Incidentally, we
haven't changed the height of human females. Not sure why you think so,
or why anyone would think a love interest would have to "match"
anything. I think this teaches me to answer questions, if this
is the sort of stuff people can conjure up to justify their dislike of a
change.
Wow.

That's just great. I noticed the immediate bleh reactions after he said the Elves would be taller, and I was like, what are you whining about and more importantly, what idiot reasoning do you justify it with. Now he's probably not going to come answer questions anymore, who would want to when you get such reactions, complete with videos expressing their digust. Good job to those people, really.

Yes how dare people express their opinions! How dare they!

For real? Gaider's a big boy he can deal with a little forum blowback. He already has.

One thing is to express your opinion and another to incriminate someone of heightism (which is a real issue in some countries, believe it or not). I saw a documentary about chinese people getting surgery to become taller. The doctors would cut the leg bone and put some wires for 1 year until the bone rejuvenates...hard to explain in english ><

Edit: i found an article

I think the quote is from the other thread, if you hop over to the footprint the Grand Poobah had left here on BSN.
But yeah, no more height questions. But we still can ask something else, do we? We ask a very good one yesterday and got a lovely answer from David!  I am quite positive he will still drop by and have a wee chat with us from time to time.

I know how that work! I've had a friend who did that way back. Believe me, it was painful enough just to watch.

A new ism learned.

It is great how many of life's problems can be summed up with ism.

Yikes.

My issue was more with the whitewashing of the whole thread. Yes its true that some people were out of line but saying no one should've said any critcism? Too close to censorship for my tastes.

The term is around for a while...

In my language tho, we don't have many of the ism words.

Wow... like all kinds of predjudice, that's just sad.Posted Image There's nothing wrong with voicing an opinion, but I think some people forget that there's more than one side to a coin. I try to be open minded about most things, but I wouldn't be surprised if I've been predjucial before, even if I hadn't realised it. That's another problem: some people don't even realise that they're doing it.

In Thedas, elves are looked upon as second class citizens. I wonder how Fenris would react to that. Thoughts, anyone?

Given that he was a slave, I'd wager he'd be used to it.

Depending on how recent the amnesia was.

Edit: As in, how long between infusion and escape?

I mean how the everyday person would treat elves. I suppose he might be used to it. Then again, he might be annoyed that even "free elves" are looked down upon.

But the free elves in the form of the Dalish are also feared, it's really complicated.

Maybe he is surprised that Hawke treats him like an equal (I assume most people will play Hawke that way) and he will be confused by it. The magister probably treated him more like a pet than a human being, so it might result in interesting situations.

You have. no idea. how happy. this would make me. Like. No idea.

I just think we are going to be suprised at how some of the assumptions have been far off with Fenris..

Still can't wait for more info to be released and to actually play the game and have him as a companion..

@ Ramante: That's a good point. I can't remember who mentioned this before, but would he have trouble socialising? He's been a slave for as long as he can remember, and I doubt the magister was interested in talking much to him.

I agree, I started thinking about this when we had the humor discussion. Someone said that he will probably 'get' humor but won't think it is funny.
Don't know if any of you have read the books (Earth's Children) of J.M. Auel, the woman in that book has been brought up apart from her own kind and when she gets reunited with them a lot of things are confusing to her -> humor, the fact that everyone is eachothers equal, etc. I imagine something like that might be the case with Fenris.

Plus, a lot of people were reluctant to accept her, because she was so different.  It wouldn't surprise me if Fenris were the same.

It's been way too long since I read those books.  I first read them in 8th or 9th grade, and that was a good eight years ago.  It makes me feel old Posted Image

Evening, Ser Gaider! *tips hat*

I had a feeling Hawke would probably either get punched or get threatened with getting her hands cut off.

Well, first he would flinch-- because his markings are quite painful, and doubly so when they're touched. His first instinct might be to punch someone who touched him, though he'd probably hold back if he realized it was Hawke.

Then he would brood.

*pokes Fenris out of curiosity*

*feels bad to cause brooding*

Yes, I know this is a month old.  And?

I have read those books.. 5 years ago I think. I loved them (second part not so much to be honest) am now looking for a cheap English version. The translated versions of books are always weaker in my opinion.

I'm really curious about the sensitive to touching thing. Since it was later added to his character I wonder how much dialogue/interaction will actually be about it. Can't remember exactly what David said about  it(have to reread it), but now I'm even more excited. Mostly because all characters have a hook and are in their own way important to the story. And what Mike said in one of the interviews (other thread) that the companions have interactions with eachother even when Hawke isn't with them makes the story feel more real.

Can't wait till the game comes out, I have even changed my amazon order from free delivery (3-7 days) to normal delivery (2-3 days). :'D

Start a new game as a mage character. ;p

Catching up with the thread while waiting for the roads to clear. The above would be Plan A (unless Fenris is bi... and sibling trumps PC).

Hard to say without knowing the dynamics of the game and relationships but if either sibling makes moves on Fenris and he returns their feelings I would probably stay out of it. You cannot force someone to love you and even if it is just a VG,  I believe it would not end well.

1) There is never ever a problem with people expressing their opinions, it is all in the delivery of the opinion.  BioWare and most people will never get bent out of shape if a person calmly and logically states their case on a topic.  Idiotic rants and bellyaching is another thing.

2) When you get called and idiot, a liar, being deceptive, being a sellout on forums on a weekly if not daily basis sooner or later you get fed up.  If you notice all of the 'big boys' on many other game forum sites never make an appearance at all to discuss their games.

lol, have a look at these forums and the threads and posts that BioWare allows to stay in existence.  They are about as benevolent as you can be on a PRIVATE forum where people have agreed to adhere to the terms of the forum.  Censorship is good thing, there should be a lot more of it on forums like these.
