Nah, double digits, I think. Or perhaps it was shortly after 100...

Was it? It feels so long ago lol :P

Passionate. Obbsessive. Possessive.

He's like a delicious cupcake, we're half-starved prisoners of our Bioware Love, and Gaider is the cruel, cruel guard who withholds him from our grasp. ;-; well, not just Gaider. But you get my point.

 Angsty, Passionate, Possesive, Brooding Fenris.....

:wub::devil::wub::devil::wub::devil:

edit: obviously these weren't the right terms to use since it got taken so out of context from what I meant to say.  The way I meant the terms to mean and the way they were taken were so far off from each other that there were misunderstandings...so please just disregard this comment...it turned into a much bigger thing than it was meant to

This thread needs to collectively justify to me how an ex-slave - given that's what we know about him - would ever want to be possessive of another person in any context. Unless you're saying its a psychological consequence of his enslavement, which might make sense but that isn't romantic, it's tragic.

...obsessive and posessive are not healthy traits to posess.
Fenris is not Edward Cullen. I don't even need to play the game to know that.

I would rather Fen not act like an angsty teenager throughout the entire game, thanks.

+1.

Stop fetishizing things that could potentially be a sore spot for him. An ex-slave would not take calling someone else a slave (even in the most "romantic" of contexts, though that's hardly romantic) or possessing them. It's just not something that would happen, and it's certainly not something to get your knickers in a twist over.

This.

The way people are making him out to be it's like he walked straight out of Twilight and into DA2. I seriously hope he's not like that  Those aren't attractive traits, they're shortcuts to restraining orders.

While I agree that an obsessive and possessive Fenris isn't an attractive feature by any means imo, it's a bit startling?/intimidating (what's the word I'm looking for..) to get you all posting that one after another. It's like a concentrated strike team. Ergh, it's late here and I'm having difficulties articulating what I mean it seems. =p

Also, I wanted to add that I really enjoyed your interpretation of Fenris in your stories Calla. Excellent work!

It's not really meant to be an attack, I just really don't want Fen to be an Edward Cullen-style dysfunctional creep. *sadface*

I tend to agree with you on that, but I do see him being angsty/brooding somewhat just as a result of what he's gone through.  I think it would be nice to see a bit of that and have it evolve through the game, since it's taking place over a ten year timespan anyways.  But being possessive/obsessive is not something I'd want to see in game...or real life.

To add to the current discussion: Yeah, I don't find a guy being possessive/obsessive very appealing myself. I understand why the idea of it may be romantic to some, I guess. A significant other making sure you're known as theirs and theirs alone.. But in truth when you look past the fluffiness of it (oh they're just protecting me, they love me so much, etc) it's just creepy, no one 'owns' anyone else. I wouldn't want to be with anyone like that, and wouldn't have my Lady Hawke be with that kind of person either. I hope Fenris doesn't end up being the controlling jerk type, as his character shows promise. I'd hate his character to be ruined by such negative traits.

whoa whoa whoa whoa....that got taken so far from what I meant it's not even funny. I should have been more specific or have said nothing at all.

I don't think there's anything wrong with being passionate so I'm not going to address that.
I suspect, based on his past, he's going to be somewhat angsty, I'm not talking extreme twilight or whatever you want to do, but periodically I supposed he may be angsty (in general) but not all the time, as long as it was in context.

We've already been told he may/probably/will brood at some point based off of the fact that his lyrium branding is painful, so at some point I suspect he will brood.

And I suppose possessive can be taken as that way, but I looking back I suppose that's not the word I meant, I meant more...protective I suppose, Like the little banter that someone wrote beforehand envolving Fenris and Anders and confronting Anders on his flirting with Hawke and Fenris saying "she's mine, back off".

I just thought all of those things being present at some point was appealing as long as it fit....

I did not meant it at all the way it was perceived....and I'm somewhat embarrassed....my bad :(

I don't think his quote is particularly angsty. He seems defiant. And stoicism - either definition - doesn't really imply brooding.  Brooding is a simmering of emotions that occasionally boils over, isn't it?  Stoics are typically beyond that.

Granted, that's just my interpretation and not inherently better than anyone else's.

I thought that DG said somewhere something about him brooding.  Could definitely be wrong, though.

He did mention brooding here...

Evening, Ser Gaider! *tips hat*

I had a feeling Hawke would probably either get punched or get threatened with getting her hands cut off.

Well, first he would flinch-- because his markings are quite painful, and doubly so when they're touched. His first instinct might be to punch someone who touched him, though he'd probably hold back if he realized it was Hawke.

Then he would brood.

Then I'd be wrong.  Still without such a quote I'm not quite getting that vibe.  Granted, David Gaider did just say "more stoic" in the context of describing another character the concept of a stoic person leads me to picture on who is self-controlled and confident.

So he did.  Anyway, not entirely sure what impact that has on his character unless he's going to be teased by Hawke with consistency.
