EDIT: Okay. They are different scenes. I can barely hear the GiantBomb voice, so I can't comment. But, is the voice in the GameSpot video Varric? It sure sounds like Varric. It's around 4:40.

If it's the "what were those things?" line, that's Varric.

Honestly, I woudn't suggest trying to discern Fenris' VA from such a short line-- especially one that's so hard to hear. It will hurt your brains. But it's your brains, so... knock yourselves out, I guess. :)

And this also means his VA could pretty much be anyone. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/lol.png[/smilie] It's not hard for a competent VA, American born, UK born or whatever, to put on a very slight fake accent.

I did say his accent was slight, but it's definitely not fake.

The fact that he glows give me more hope that Varric's nickname for Fen will be 'Gloworm.' SQUEE~

He just calls Fenris "Elf". But that's because he calls Merrill "Daisy".

What?! No snazzy nickname? No imagination used? Just...Elf?

Varric has officially lost any and all cool points with me. :|

Well, to be fair Fenris calls him "dwarf" first.

Could be an act of kindness. If you had massive scarring all over your body as a result of an insanely traumatic experience would you want a nickname making reference to it?

I'm sure that if Fenris hadn't started it, Varric would probably have referred to him by something else he imagines elves eat.

Hawke:  "Hi, we brought your runaway slave back.  Here's 50 sovereigns, he's our slave now"

I think that would earn you THE FENRIS EYEBROW ™.

Fenris does not have a wife.

If I were you guys, who are already eager to play, I'd stop fishing for spoilers.

Just a warning: Keep the spoilers in the spoiler thread. Don't casually spoil people who have come here for character discussion.

No she did that to me too the last time. I got that and the monologue about her doubting herself, so I don't think they're mutually exclusive.

There's no set path to how the end battle with her plays out. The impalement is an ability she may or may not use, and when she does it she'll say something depending on who she has impaled. As for the monologues, those are "rest sequences" that she'll take if conditions are right. It's pretty complex, as I understand it.

inspiration for Fenris' real name?

I like it?

You said a while back that other than Valen, there had been other character influences for Fenris but you didn't want to say because people take that out of context. Now that we've met the man as he is, care to comment on what those other character influences were?

My intention is to avoid talking about where I take my inspiration from, primarily because many people can't tell the difference between inspiration and derivation. That might not be you, but I'm not taking any chances. Sorry!

And the red thing on Fenris's arm is Hawke's favor. As in a scarf.

Mix these together and it would cause all sorts of doom...

Guys I don't buy it. David Gaider doesn't know his own character.

Not as well as YOU do, I take it?

BTW, Gaider created two very different
but really great guys - Alistair and Fenris. He's a fantastic writer as
far as I am concerned. Did he write Nathaniel? Because if he did, he
pretty much hits it out of the park for me.

Thank you-- and, yes, I also wrote Nathaniel.

Bann me if you want; i can't stand know-it-all developers. this is all something you could have addressed on my first post, before I wasted all this time here.

First off, I only come to the forums occasionally, and will poke around into topics as I please. I've never seen anything you've posted before. And while you may post every ten seconds, demanding a response, I honestly have better things to do.

Secondly, if we want to talk about "know-it-alls", shall we start with presumptuous fans? How much pain does Fenris feel when you touch him, exactly? Did he tell you? Do you have some insight into how that works, better than I do? It's a matter of discomfort and reflex for him-- and there comes a time when being lonely and cut off from the entire world around you will lead even someone as averse to touch as Fenris to seek it out.

And, when it comes to Fenris, I do know it all, thank you very much. I know him inside and out, because I created him. So rather than deciding something about him and getting annoyed because your version doesn't match up with the real thing, please consider what you're speaking of.

Thank you, and I'm glad you enjoyed the character so much.

I really hope this doesn't put you off responding to the Fenris thread Gaider! Some of us really enjoy and appreciate the little tidbits and insight into Fenris that you offer.Posted Image

Nah. I don't come here all that often-- so this one I stumbled onto quite by accident. I'm happy to answer questions if I come across them, I was just a little taken aback by that one. :)

Oh no, not a pirate! That thought consumes my inner Hawke in jealously, seeing as Isabella is a pirate:P But, about Fenris in his short story, you're right. I was quite surprised when it came to the part where he grins at the shocked lady. I didn't expect him to do that. I thought he would've sternly apologised and quickly raced out of the room

Fenris has a streak of sardonic humor-- you'll see it pop up from time to time. He can even enjoy a bit of mischief when his brooding doesn't distract him.

Yes, you are broody. Admit it. It's like Twilight in here.

No, I didn't mean it like-- don't storm off in a huff. You don't need to-- maaaaan.

See what you all have done?

One little reassurance that a rivalmance mage isn't causing flashbacks to... stuff, with Danarius is all I need. Unless you want to offer more then that and in that scenario I need all info.

Be reassured. What Hawke and Fenris had would have no relation to Danarius, even to Fenris himself.

"What did Fenris think was in the chest?"

Information on his family. He didn't really think it was true, and was all but certain it was just a way to lure him into the open, but he couldn't ignore it.

"Did Fenris know about the ritual? Or just the boon?"

Just the boon. Even if he'd known about what was going to be done to him, he wouldn't have known what that meant.
