I realize that not everyone pursues a romance but you don't need to add too much. Just little tidbits here and there, that remind us that there is something more at stake than just the normal mission. It's hard because right now it's more like romance and the true plot are sitting at opposite ends of the room.

I think what I'm trying to say is I don't want a dating sim, I want a story where all the parts go happily together. But I do realize that's asking a lot considering all the variations so I'm not going to get disappointed if it doesn't turn out that way. 

And I'd rather have all three be love interests but I know I'm just being greedy :innocent:

I'm quite hopeful that you'll get your wish, because we've heard encouraging news recently about how much more tied to the story the companions will be this time around. :happy:

I'd really love it if romances were to be more 'acknowledged' by the story. Things like having having romance related dialogue tweaking the regular cutscenes during integral parts of the game, not just when Hawke and the LI are chatting one on one. I think the same should apply to any strong relationship, romance or otherwise, that Hawke has established with companions. For example, I want to see Hawke's BFF behave noticeably differently during an important cutscene than he/she would if they weren't close friends.

On that note, I think that's one of the intentions of only being able to talk to your companions when they want to talk to you (i.e. at specific points or at their home base when they have something new to say) - you can't binge through the relationships any longer. In my first playthrough, I got through the Alistair romance about two main quests in, and then there basically wasn't anything left to do with him. One of the reasons I was particularly fond of Zevran's romance path was that you didn't reach the climax conclusion until you were in Denerim for the Landsmeet. So yes, I'd agree that I'd like the pacing to be a bit better.

Ok, what I'm trying to say is that I agree with what you're saying as far as romance and the length. It should expand the whole story and be spread out. However, I want it more interconnected to the actual plot. When you go through the final mission in ME2 there is no difference between what happens if you have a romance or if you don't have a romance. Even if Garrus say dies, there's no real difference in dialogue, romance or not. Therefore, the romance plot feels more like a side quest to me rather than an actual part of my Warden/Hawke/Shepard's story.

DA actually touched on this a little bit, for instance, with the ritual with Morrigan. It was a big part of the plot and the conversation went and felt different, especially if you were in a relationship with Alistair or Morrigan. 

More like the romance is an important part of Hawke's story (if the player chooses to romance someone) and less like the romance is just something on the side, like a side quest. I hope I explained that clearer.
