That heart at the top of the sword is an...interesting choice, to say the least. Then again, check out the 'tic-tac-toe' lyrium markings. Very nice artwork though!

It does say "burned into his flesh". I think some people are forgetting what tattoos are. Pigment inserted into the skin layers to change the colour.

In that case wouldn't the right term be 'brands'? I don't know what would be more painful, primitive tattooing or getting searing hot mineral inlaid into you.

It's not the tattoos that really matter it's more the lyrium in it, maybe they tried something to him what they tried with Shale, they tried to plant lyrium in his veins so they can tap some magic off whenever they want so i think that's the case with Fenris

Did the Magister try to put it in his veins? Looks more like it is just under his skin and not in his veins.

@Steam, depends on the poison (I followed a toxicology class 2 years ago). If given to a person in low amounts during a regular interval they can become resistant/immune.. so it wouldn't surprise me if Fenris was first exposed to lyrium in his surrounding/on his skin before it was actually injected into his body.

I remember that Gaider said Fenris' scars/tattoos were a later addition - when he first came up with Fenris he didn't have them. That leads me to wonder if they aren't that important really. I suspect the 'exposure to lyrium' in general is what's more important than the scars themselves. The scars seem like something Gaider and/or the art team came up with to supplement Fenris' 'living weapon' status.

I'm hardly the funniest person ever (much to my never-ending disappointment), but it might be time to take a step back and look at your posts critically. It's great you're enjoying yourself, but this is a forum and sometimes it's good to be a bit more prudent about what you're posting and the responses you get. If the best you're getting is polite indifference, it's probably a good idea to tone it down a little.

In a subtle attempt at changing the topic... how about that Fenris? I, um, wonder if he gets a change of clothes over the course of the game. (OK, I'm stretching here.)
