I think the plot line will actually take a crazy twist and Fenris will really be revealed as Ogrhen disguised as an elf.

....is it bad that I actually wouldn't mind?

Can't he simply be an unfortunate soul abducted from an nearby Dallish camp/alienage?
He was actually a unicorn prince that got trapped in elven form and then kidnapped before being sold into slavery. About halfway through the game a flying purple cat arrives to tell him that unless the player helps him ascend to the Unicorn Throne the world will come to an end. Angst ensues.

I definitely don't want this thread to get off topic. Where would I view the wonderful snippets of dialogue and artwork?
I just wanted to put out a few things that I was thinking about on my loooong drive home.
Regardless of what his personailty is when we meet him in game, I would find it interesting if-before the lyrium branding-he was not the nicest man. What if he was a real bastard? Also, he had a master, yes, but other than the fact that his lyrium brands hurt now, who is to say that he didn't ask for his new "power"-whatever that happens to be. Could it be that he almost enjoyed whatever work the magister made him do? Maybe he escaped because he no longer cared for the magisters plans...
I'm not completely endorsing any of the things I mentioned...I'm just suggesting things that could be discussed
Though, I do kind of like the idea that he might not be as much of a victim as we all think...
Also, on another note: I can't remember who discussed stoicism at one point, but I find the idea very interesting. I could never really get into my philosophy class (I enjoyed my Ethics and Morality class more), but I would welcome any relevant discussion about stoicism and how it might relate to Fenris...
Yeah maybe he was too greedy for power and a man offered him all the power he wanted, but this may resolve to ANOTHER story because ; Maybe he wanted to protect something/someone but didn't have the power to protect that someone or something and don't want it to happen again and thus went with the offer and got trapped and experimented on sorry if i sound kinda geeky or something but im just saying what i think.
No, no. You don't sound too geeky. In fact, we''re all a little geeky here
Amazingly enough, on my drive, I didn't think of the idea that he might have asked for the power to protect someone. Which would be interesting. Though a lot of people seem to think he shouldn't have had a life before enslavement. I don't want his life to begin when he meets my Hawke. Good characters go beyond and above the protagonist...
Asking for the power to protect another would make him "good" however. Everybody is assuming he's good. Though I believe he'll turn out to be the victim and good, and such (and I will quite enjoy if he is), I just love anti-heroes too much![]()
I guess, though, by definition, being a slave makes you a victim...It's still fun to speculate-intelligently:whistle:
You're reading my mind

Particularly when Ser Poobah mentioned a while back there is a 'hook' involved, like Alistair and the 'Dark Ritual'.

He said "shave my back and call me a elf". I don't think any sane mind in Thedas would shave Oghren's back.
PS: The Dark Ritual was Morrigan's hook, not Alistair's.

But they are Hawke's siblings, of course their backstory will be great. It's the other companions' that interested me.

Wait, Did anyone speculate if Fenris has any other brothers or sisters? Or that the magister might be using them to get to Fenris alone and out Hawke's protection?

Meh, I'm fine with it... I never saw what was so a bad about, it just means its on another subject
For me.. hmmm... It maybe possible that when his mom and dad got out of their rut, that they had another kid like Fenris, but things went ok for that kid, so it was fine..
hmm -3- then somehow the magister did something with that sibling to get fenris out..
Then Hawke orders an issue of orders and plans to the other characters to take down his former master.. varric and Seb got their arrows lined up in some strange spot to snipe him.. isabella will be in the shadows? -her being a rogue and all- and Hawke will watch it unfold..
