I would assume that the majority of posters here are female, however there are several guys who post fairly often as well. All of the "squeeing" appears to be done by girls though

I have no doubt that their race has a HUGE part to play in their popularity. If Varric was an elf he would probably have 200 more pages, and if Fenris were a dwarf he would probably have 200 less. Reguardless of their personalities the elves get the love

That is my favorite companion pairing. I adore the idea of Fenris with Merrill. We of coarse have no idea what the characters are actually like though so that pairing only works with the "fan made" Fen and Mer at the moment. For all we know Merrill could be a stuck up **** and Fenris could be a whiney "emo" character.

I'm a girl and I like both Fenris and Merrill. I dont post alot on the Merrill thread because its usually fairly slow.

I never thought about liking them because their elves but that may be part of it, I liked Al way better then Zev though. I'm not really intrested in Aveline because I like my women to look like women. Isabela is a little to "forward" for my taste and Varric, well I'm just not into chest hair, I know some people like it and thats fine but its just not my cup of tea. And I dont know anything about the last guy.

This is a Bioware RPG. Even if other characters make moves on your LI, don't you think they'd give you a way to 'win' the LI without having to resort to violence or threats thereof >_>;

IIRC a dev has also confirmed there are no inter-party romances, though that one article did suggest a sibling might be a roadblock/speed bump in a romance. Shippers gonna ship, though.

I was personally being facetious with my previous comment, but although inter-party romance will probably not be part of the game, it's interesting to think about.

Yes I am a lady  But honestly his race has nothing to do with why I post on here (occasonally - not as often as most of the lovely fen-atics), In my opinion he just has one of the most interesting back storys (from what little do do actually know that is). I also love Merrill and again it nothing to do with the fact that she is an elf just that she is so darn cute looking

As long as the characters arnt as you sujest at the bottom there and asuming they are romancable by the PC - they are both mine on my respective male and female playthrough as so far for LI's they are the only 2 that would appeal to me, if (for some strange reason I choose to romance someone else, I think they would make a lovely couple !!

Yeah I remember them saying that the companions would interact. (Like the example of you walking into a bar and seeing two comps talking) No surprise about the no companion romance. The most I ever would have expected was the same amount as in mass effect (Ashley's sister saying Kaiden was cute) or harmless flirting here and there. Companions having romances could take away from the main focus and could ****** off players



In terms of the "elfs get all the love" I definitely will admit that if I was given the choice between human companion and mythical race companion the different race would win 8/10 times based purely on the fact that we see humans every day and the thought of a different species is interesting (even though the difference is purely aesthetic). The 200 page different was a little exaggerated lol. Elves tend to be more attractive and get the loves I hated Zevran. *runs off*

Hehe, I love that Fenris is currently winning the most anticipated companion poll that just went up a while ago (I think a lot of his votes comes from the sneaky lurkers of this thread, of whom I sense there are a lot). Should be interesting to see a "Favorite Companion" poll after we've all played the game and compare the two.

I sort of think that Merrill is going to be like a little sister to Fenris, she'll tease him about things, like Hawke for instance:
