I would just like to clarify that bishounen, as I am guessing you all know, means a pretty boy and usually the term androgenous (I don't find Fenris very female-looking contrary to what some might think) can be associated with this. I agree that Fenris is very nice looking but I would rather not compare him to a Japanese term that, seeing as I live in Japan, is never used by my female friends to describe a male outside of a manga or anime. Fenris is not an anime or manga character in my mind so saying bishounen makes me think of him as some Tamahome from Fushigi Yugi (if any of you know who that is).

Fenris is HOT. That is all.

Aaaah, I remember those days.  Good times.

But honestly, while I certainly find Fenris' appearance attractive, I wouldn't quite call him 'bishonen', even if he were an anime character.  Although, I can't place my finger on why... though it's probably just personal preference/interpretation.

Which reminds me of a post I read in a separate topic earlier today (but didn't want to respond to because I feared it would spawn a debate, and I'm not really a debate... person. xD)

Out of curiosity, how many people would say Fenris and Zevran are alike, and how many would say they're at opposite ends of the spectrum?  Feel free to comment on anything, from background, to personality, to appearance.

From the (very) little we know so far, I see them as being complete opposites, but I'm curious as to what the general opinion is. xD

I would say... judging from what we know about him or his rather the way the devs have described him so far...they are on the opposite ends of the spectrum. I mean, Zevran was just....well, out there, he was flirty n chatty n all over the place and as far as I can tell he had no fears about being touched. Fenris meanwhile...seems like he would punhc you if you touched him right after you meet him(which Zevran didn't mind at all), he described as a stoic, quiet type as well....so yeah, they are definetely opposed. Then there is also the who Zevran being a duel-wielding assassin rogue and Fenris being a 2-handed warrior, which is similiar in only that they are both DPS type characters.

There is such little information to go on but they seem like opposites to me. Zevran is much more light-hearted, open-minded, and outgoing while Fenris seems somewhat taciturn, perhaps a bit strict on the treatment of mages and anything involved with them seeing as his master was kind of a poophead. Zevran and Fenris both had troubled pasts but I feel that they dealt with them differently. Zevran sort of went with the flow of life and if that didn't suit him then he adjusted to the situation as needed. Fenris seems like the type who confronts issues with a bit more violence and personal vengeance perhaps. Fenris definitely seems capable of adjusting to situations of course but unlike Zevran he does not seem to have the benefit of a charming personality that could save his ass in times of trouble.

But some of the similarities that were mentioned were:

- Similar in appearance
- Same outfits in concept art
- Both ex slaves

The first difference might just be me, but I think Fenris and Zevran look very different. Zevran has long hair, Fenris has short. Zevran is blond, Fenris has white hair. Zevran has more rounded features, Fenris has sharp features. Zevran has thin eyebrows, Fenris has thick, etc... xD

So basically, the only similarity I see between them is that they're both good-looking elves. Does anyone else think differently? D:

As for the concept art... well, concept art is just that, a concept, and if you put in-game screenshots of Fenris and Zevran up side-by-side, they really don't look anything alike.

The last point about them both being slaves I will admit holds some water, but... I get the feeling that if you asked Zevran whether he considered himself a slave or an assassin, he'd say assassin, just like how he considers himself Antivan rather than Dalish.

We don't really know what Fenris thinks about being an ex-slave, so it's hard to make a comparison on this front.

That's where the fun will happen when the game releases....

Offtopic : the concept art of zevran( and all the other characters in origins) was badass...they really should have considered using that as his appearance in the game...

I think there's also the point that oppression and/or slavery will feature in the lives of many, many elves. A non-Dalish elf who lived a life free of any ill-treatment is probably the exception rather than the rule.

It's the weekend in the month before a major release: I imagine that if they aren't working on urgent game stuff that they're taking the chance to get some much-needed R&R away from the computer.

@raziel: While I completely agree with you that the concept art was awwwwesome for Zevran, I did read a funny blog entry where a girl have a very different opinion from you and me. And by that, I mean that she completely hated the 'man-corset' (as she called it.) xD Guess not everyone thought the same! lol



@Threeparts: Agreed. I think what the poster may have been hinting at was that we need a Dalish elf LI (like what we may get with Merrill, only male) but as far as city elves go, mistreatment seems to be the norm in most places, just worse in countries that allow slavery. Doesn't really strike me as strong grounds to claim that Fenris and Zevran are exactly alike, but there might just be a part of the picture I'm not seeing. xD

No, he can't his look is actually quite good... ontop of the fact that he's actually wearing armor around his chest n waist area...so it's not like his vital organs will be exposed to any threatening hits...

Well, this all I will say for the LI thing... if Merrill is a male only LI, then Fenris most likely will be the female only LI...as I think that would only be fair...but only the maker knows at this point...

Well, as I said... it's an if situation... I personally wouldn't mind if either or both of them were bi... but that's just me as I don't see the pull or the 'trope' of the situation...

Most likely, When the game release only being a month away... I think they want us to have the game "cold"

All I really want to know at this point is my potential LIs. Because I have to have time to adjust to the disappointment, if I am to be disappointed. And I'd rather have some time to get past that before launch, and not just a few days.



Story and other 'spoilers' I am not in the least interested in and do not want. But since there is still nothing on the LI front, I guess I'll go back to playing Re:coded and Two Worlds II for another week and see what next Monday brings.
