Voice wise I have no idea or any speculations who Fenris is played by BUT I think every game needs to hire the woman who did the English voice for Fran in FF12. THAT voice is beyond amazing and needs to be included in EVERYTHING!



On another note, if Fenris is a LI who wants to bet that if the romance scene is tender that there will be tracing of his lyrium 'veins' by Hawke? /melts from the thought.

Alright, the GiantBomb video where we hear someone talking and the GameSpot video are of different scenes near the exact same location.



It appears whoever is talking is saying "We should move on"--it also looks like the player clicked Fenris, and that was his situational line for that area. The other line (which sounds like it's from an American voice) triggers suddenly after the battle, and is ambient dialogue. Besides the camera angle being different, the monsters being different, the Hawkes are different genders in each video.

After searching YouTube for Steve Burton as Cloud and listening to Fenris, I'm really thinking it's the same guy who voices Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII O-O

We know a few things about Fenris' voice:

A) He has an accent different than Welsh, English, or American. This accent would make him obvious pretty fast, so it is the actor's natural accent.
He has done voicework for a major RPG before.
C) Gaider particularly selected him.

Steve Burton does not have an accent. Nor, do I believe, has he done a voicework for a major RPG, unless you count Kingdom Hearts.

So, I'm not sure why David said it was Fenris--that man was speaking with an obvious and distinct American accent.

Has he worked with Bioware before? Or is it just a major RPG?

If it's the "what were those things?" line, that's Varric.

Honestly, I woudn't suggest trying to discern Fenris' VA from such a short line-- especially one that's so hard to hear. It will hurt your brains. But it's your brains, so... knock yourselves out, I guess.

And this also means his VA could pretty much be anyone. It's not hard for a competent VA, American born, UK born or whatever, to put on a very slight fake accent.

Considering he doesn't like to be touched? And seems to have some rage issues...

My Hawke's more than willing to give him a nice wide berth.

If anyone touches anyone first it'll have to be Fenris. Hawke's not taking the risk of a hand ending up in the chest.

Also depends on what you determine a major RPG. Kingdom Hearts did, actually, sell very well, and garnered quite a few awards. KH2 also did pretty well. It certainly was a major player in the JRPG market, if nothing else. There is also Advent Children (which, granted, is a movie based in a game universe), Crisis Core, Dissidia/Dissidia: Duodecium, etc. However, Gaider has told me I should eat that hat, so I will take that to mean that despite the uncanny similarities in the voices, it is not Steve Burton.

That said, I still contend that it sounds an awful lot like him, which is not a hard feat. It's not as if Cloud had some difficult tone/accent to him anyway.

Ohhhh, why must you do this? Why must you melt my heart with constant imagery!

If Fenris' markings are specifically painful, I wouldn't want this to happen because I don't want to hurt him... But if it's less of a discomfort and more of an adversion, I could see how tracing Fenris' markings as a demonstration of how much he trusts Hawke. Very intimate. Very tender. I love it!

If its not Ahnold as the voice, Im holding out hope for the first Newf voice over.  Allan Hawco from Republic of Doyle would be a fine voice over (granted, he doesn't follow any of the tidbits that Mr. Gaider laid out for the thread, but still)

I think if Fen lets it hapen, it'd be a sign that he trusts Hawke. Maybe she touches his arm, and he instinctivelly flinches away, maybe grabs her wrist harshly...then lets it go and turns away to brood, until Hawke touches him again. He freezes momentarily, then makes himself relax, and Hawke pulls him into a comforting hug.
