But all the deception, rewriting, political dabbling is what makes history so darn fascinating. Because when facts begin to shine between the cracks of deception, there is this wonderful 'AH HAH!' moment.

Oh, I agree that deception and political dabbling is quite interesting.  I have no problems with that!  Its just that certain things can't be used as historical evidence to support arguments. 

And history is constantly being rewritten.  There is actually a recent book out there that contends that there was no such thing as Feudalism, and that it was only invented in a later period that wrongly described the past.  I can't remember the name of the book, the author, and can't find it either(no luck with Amazon Feudalism), but I know it exists, and i heard it was quite convincing! (I also havent read it )

Oh I doubt we'll ever get a complete picture of anything. I think all the loose ends and uncertainy are an important part of the world building, it gives the feeling there is far more than you currently know

I think my main interest in DA2 is hopefully finding out what the main story actually is.
