Of the 3 possible Lady Hawke LI's, my guess for who isn't is Varric. Partly because I want Anders and Fenris :)

So...you want someone who has personality issues and someone who has personal space issues as a love interest over a dwarf?

Well... Varric has height issues. ^_^

I apologise i just had to. :P

And to your question I believe the answer is yes.

Some people don't like dwarves as LIs. After the raging firefest of FemHawke shorter than Fenris thread, I really don't think we need to go back there. The people trying to point out shades in people's characters and fairness based on their preferences in a video game LI was absolutely inane.

I appreciate that fact...I just find it interesting that she would apparently prefer the two most psychologically damaged male characters as a love interest over a relatively normal dwarf.

Maybe she's a fixer. :P Like me. I like fixin' things. Electronics, people, even cars, if I had the tools and space for such an endeavor.

I get frustrated when I cannot help or fix the problems.

There just more interesting then the normal ones to some. Most people would not date poeple like that in real life so they want to try it in fantasy.

Interesting...so is it purely physical or do you feel the need to "fix" these characters (ie. the typical "bad boy" relationship), or do you just not like dwarves enough to choose someone who clearly has issues?

I know I've asked around this before, but just find it fascinating

@Bsbcaer  I think part of it is some want to give these damaged characters a hug and make it all better. If you go on tvtropes these are called woobies.

Hmm... Is it OK if I say that I think Varric has better chances for LI status over Anders? Probably not.

Only reason I say that is because how the hell will that work out with the spirit of Justice/Vengeance? The problem with Fenris' anger issues can be worked around, but wouldn't you agree that it'd be a little creepy when you have a spirit you know is there and can just jump in and ninja-kiss Hawke (n' all sorts of weird crap I'm not describing for my sanity's sake)?

Varric is definetly the best looking dwarf they have ever made, but I can't get past his height.  It's not attractive to me and never will be.  Every companion in DA2 is going to be screwed up in their own way, so Ander's and Fenris's issues aren't offputting at all to me.

trying not to get off topic, so I'll start with Fenris.  It's the phasing thing that attracts you isn't it?? :)

Now to my real question...Wouldn't you find it difficult/awkward/just plain weird to have a loving relationship with one person and have another completely unique person possibly come to the surface ('assuming direct control!") at any tme?

Tash, of course I'm evil. Deliciously-Demonic, remember ;)

I suddenly want to see a catfight between fem!Hawke and Bethany, with Fenris watching confused and worried, ad Izzie and Varric making bets.

I don't know that I'd term Fen a bad boy. Well, we have no context to his violent rage punch, so rather, I should say it's premature to state that. To put this in perspective, my boyfriend of several years, when we met he was not a bad boy at all, but he was having issues in his life. We were just friends for the majority of that time, but it was nice to be able to help him work through and talk through those things. Him confiding things in me he hadn't told anyone else was an honor, to be honest.

And when I realized I'd fallen for him, and he for me, it was somehow sweeter, knowing that we'd already overcome some things together and that he (and I, really) had come out better people for it. Fixing doesn't have to imply this is some kind of rocker/punk/motorcycle/tattoooed bad boy. Could just be someone a bit broken on the inside, emotionally.

Edit: and since I had a ninja'd question directed at me: No. The phasing disturbed the **** out of me, if I'm honest.

Oh....BY THE PITS OF HELL!

I hadn't thought of that...Noooooo!!!!!

Dammit, ever since the  "All I want is a pretty girl, a decent meal, and the right to shoot lightning at fools." "Pretty girl, right here" convo I wanted to romance Anders...And that would really put a crimp in the relatioship....Posted Image

I'm going purely on who I think will survive the LI chopping block. I don't think Varric has a chance of surviving against either Fenris or Anders on this point. Now if you want to go on has who I would PREFER, yes It would be Fenris and Anders. The "vertically impaired" thing probably has a lot to do with it. I could never romance Zev as a human cause she would look down upon him. However I romanced Alistair several times as a elf.

I'm tall and even I'm offended when height is considered the reason why Varric shouldn't be a romance.

Reading that "Assuming direct control!" line in Harbinger's voice did not help anything, bsbcaer! Anyway, that would be pretty creepy. If we can indeed help Anders with his possession problem, it depends on how much time it will take, I think, for the romance to occur. If we were still in the situation of Awakening, which is the span of about a year, I doubt we'd have any relationship besides a sketchy friendship. Having ten years to "depossess" someone and perhaps still form a romantic relationship with them... I'm not making sense to myself any more.

Yes, but, in all honesty, you've been latched onto Varric for months now.

I want my LIs to appeal to me. Varric does not appeal to me. I won't cry if he's a LI, but I don't want him to be.

Based on the thread we're in, I sort of get the Fenris thing...but, my apologies for dipping off topic again, why Anders/Vengeance over Varric?  It might just be me, but I don't see the appeal of romancing someone with multiple unique personalities that require concentration and control for the dominant personality (Anders) to remain dominant.  With Fenris, I can see the possible progression in the relationship (although I see it as much more a LONG TERM payoff, if any, relationship wise and I hope to see a more simple, touching (pardon the pun) physical ending rather than wham bam slam thank you maam), but I just don't see the Anders/Vengeance thing

I just want Fenris as my FemHawke's romance and Merrill as my Male Hawke. Both seem feasible, so I'm happy.

As much as personality is important, anyone saying physical 'spark' is not necessary in a relationship is more of an idealist than me. And I thought that was damn near impossible.

People have preferences in their mates. No one cries about sexism or being offended when someone says they prefer only one gender, so why should height or anything else matter? They are just preferences. We all have them. Why this one bothers so many people on this forum is beyond me.

I'd just like to say that even though both characters have gone through some psychologically damaging things doesn't mean that they are totally dysfunctional. I'm sure there are some things that might effect that character more than others, but that doesn't exactly mean they are crazy.

Based on the facts we've gotten, Fenris doesn't exactly feel comfortable with touching. That doesn't mean he's going to curl up in a ball and mutter things about the magister every time someone gets near him. Heck, Morrigan didn't like touching either, but she wasn't crazy.

And just because Anders has Justice inside of him doesn't mean his head will start spinning and you'll need to call an exorcist. Just cause they have hard backgrounds doesn't mean they are dysfunctional.

Just thought I'd say that cause I've heard Fenris called emo or crazy a lot lately.
