I don't know if anyone hates that Varric would be a love interest, moreso I think it has to deal with if Varric is in, then either Anders or Fenris is out. I think with the confirmation of no Aveline romance means that there will be 2 for each. 

So it's less 'I hate Varric! They shouldn't make dwarf romances because they're short!' and more, 'Well Anders and Fenris are more appealing to me, but if Varric is in then I can't romance one of them!' So it's more like a whose my least favorite list rather than a vendetta against Varric.

I am personally going to wait and see before making any assumptions about his character. The small number of snippets of videos we have seen him in aren't enough for me to make any concrete inferences about his character. So the puch thing does not have me worried, I'll have to see more before I make any decisions.

Offended? Who is offended? I was just stating that, like you, we want LI we like and find attractive. I actually don't have that much vested in him as an LI. I don't think he's going to be one. I like him as a character first and foremost, and am glad that we'll see plenty of him as the narrator. I quite like Fenris and Anders a lot. Hell, I'd probably romance Fenris if Varric isn't an LI and even if Varric were, I still would at some point. I am invested in all the characters and find them all compelling for their own reasons. Posting pseudo's picture was to illustrate that I think a dwarf/human relationship would be cute, especially since I had the chance to play them in DAO and found them cute as well (and in that game we didn't get to romance a dwarf either).

And sorry, if people weren't constantly trashing Varric and dwarves for no damn reason all the time, I might be a bit less hasty to respond to people who were doing so. I don't think you were doing that, I was responding to you saying that you didn't want him as an LI because you want your preferences catered to. So do we. So do all of us.

There definitely have been some people who absolutely hate Varric as a love interest because he's a short dwarf.  I mean, they state explicitely that is their reasoning and I think that's a little much.  Not appealing to them, sure, I can understand that, but sometimes it is a bit much.

Anywho, not to get off-topic.  I want to hear Fen's voice!

I assume you got offended because you were extrapolating a connotation of what I had said that I didn't mean. I never said you aren't allowed your preferences. I merely explaining mine because Dave was expressing disgust at the people who wouldn't want Varric as a LI because of his height. I was merely pointing out that I want to be attracted to my LIs. This isn't wrong of me. So not liking Varric based on his physical features is a perfectly legitimate reason.

Reading that "Assuming direct control!" line in Harbinger's voice did not help anything, bsbcaer! Anyway, that would be pretty creepy. If we can indeed help Anders with his possession problem, it depends on how much time it will take, I think, for the romance to occur. If we were still in the situation of Awakening, which is the span of about a year, I doubt we'd have any relationship besides a sketchy friendship. Having ten years to "depossess" someone and perhaps still form a romantic relationship with them... I'm not making sense to myself any more.

Lines that just kind of annoyed me when fighting harbringer in ME2 suddenly become REALLY creepy.

While I look forward to Fenris being a love interest I really don't mind whether the second love interest is Anders or Varric.

EDIT FOR ON-TOPIC-NESS:  My biggest problem with Fenris is that he doesn't seem to wear shoes... and that bothers me *a lot* for some reason.  I still like him, so I guess I will have to avoid looking at his feet as much as possible.

Just because Varric isn't an LI doesn't mean the fan work featuring him will stop happening   He's very fun to draw, from both a fan and an artistic POV (The facial structure, especialy). But thank you for the kind thought
