Anyhow, before you think that I'm a meanie partypooper, here's his Twitter. Go ask in droves. If he's not the actor, he won't mind telling you. And, who knows, do it quickly enough and you can trick him into telling you. Actors usually give things away.

Dammit, why is my twitter account privacy locked.

Haha. I can see someone creating a Twitter account just to ask him. Of course, he might have signed a non disclosure agreement. I mean, Yvonne Strahovski can't confirm or deny whether she'll be returning as Miranda.

If he didn't sign anything because he isn't the voice of Fenris, then... someone please ask him.

If you all were manipulative like me, you'd say things like "I hear you're voicing a major character for Dragon Age II" or "It's great that you're Fenris in Dragon Age II" really fast before he's warned. If you bombard him with these questions/"congratulations", you might get an answer.

Gaider might've warned him about us... :bandit:

Well I tweeted him on my aux account that I use for news updates for a project of mine. Hopefully he gets back to me before the devs warn him not to :P If nothing else, we can get a denial maybe.

I will never take advice from this forums on what accents are real or not. Sorry. To my ears, I'm not picking up an accent discernable from an English one. Certainly not enough for Gaider to mention there's one at all.

I agree with you on that one.I actually am English, and I'm not picking up any other accent either.

If he has been employed, then he has been warned a long time ago.

Precisely. More than that, misleading non-questions like "You're Fenris OMG OMG" often tricks actors.

It's worked many a time.

I think it was written in the contract even.

"Do NOT answer any questions coming from raging, crazy fangirls. Not even if your life is in danger."

Well, from the "We should move on" clip he doesn't sound like he has a terribly exotic accent. I'm not saying I'm right and y'all are wrong, but I'm hoping against hope here.

I disagree. There is a difference. British English has differenct vowel inflections and you can really hear it especially in that video above. Watch District 9 and you can definitely hear it. Compare him to Daniel Craig or Colin Firth. It's like saying all Americans sound the same, which we all know is false.

I think the point is you say "English" is what you hear, but that's is vague at best.  There are lots of different English accents, hence the pointing out by Gaider about the use of Irish and Welsh for the Dalish.  Just don't rule out something because to you it's just English, others may pick up distinctions you don't.  Like I can pick up distinctions in American accents of us Southerners.  I can pick up whether you're from Tennessee or Texas or the Carolinas...but to someone from Boston it all sounds the same.  Anyhow, there is no "taking advice" just simply acknowledging the fact that there are a lot of dialects of even something like English.  But this is off topic.  Someone with a twitter should really ask him about it!

Same, same, same, same! But they might want to avoid it, seeing as how Zevran was already bisexual.

This. So much this.

It's the same here in South Africa. I can tell an Afrikaans speaking person who lives in Cape Town apart from say an Afrikaans speaking person who lives in Johannesburg. Same for the English accents here.

I'd love to bug him on Twitter, but I haven't got an account. And I suffer from terminal shyness... I mean, this is the most I've ever participated in this thread.

You need QuickTime to see this, but, as I supposed earlier, it does appear as if he fakes an English accent most of the time. His website.

So true. I don't get why people claim because Zevran was an elf and Fenris is an elf, they magically have the same personality. By that logic every human in every game should be the same as well.

The whole idea that there's something intrinsically gay about an elf just bothers me. In DA:O, Alistair was a much softer, gentler, "weaker" character than Zevran, but Zevran is the negative stereotype? Because he's got pointy ears? Bah. The whole thing makes me angry. And I don't even particularly want Fenris as the M/M option.

I'm guessing Bioware has warned Emery by now if it's him, but we could still get a denial. I'll let everyone know when and if I hear back.

You know, at this point I'd even be happy with a no. At least then we can move on to the next potential VA.

Of course he isn't, I never said anything about his personality. Take it easy there.

I'm talking about using an elf twice as the bisexual love interest. They migh try to avoid typecasting, avoid exactly the thing you said, "The whole idea that there's something intrinsically gay about an elf just bothers me."

But just acknowledge that there's "typecasting" there is what bothers me. It wouldn't matter if Fenris and Zevran were both elves. No one would say anything if they were both humans. Or maybe they would, I don't know, the amount of importance that people put on race is truly staggering, sometimes.

It does give me hope! The pessimist in me is saying it's because he's most likely doing something for ME3, however.

Yeah, I linked those last night. I think the South African and Narration bits sound pretty close to "We should move on." Maybe? I'm basically trying to imagine Emery using a darker, angrier tone in his voice (instead of the rather light-hearted, rogue-ish thing he's usually got going on) and it fits IMO. ^_^

We need to try the same bait someone used last time:
"If Gideon Emery isn't Fenris' VA, I shall eat my hat!" :wizard:

This seems like a strong indication.
