@yoshi: I agree on the giving him time to work it out thing, because of his circumstances. And that's assuming he even comes out all violent. He may not. This is why I really hate a lot of these vids, because there is no context at all. But if he does, yeah, time should be given. And as you say, if after a good chunk of years he's still not over it, then.. well. I will cry. Or have to learn to love Varric. haha.

Except for maybe the situation with Hawke's siblings, it seems. ^_^ There's that "I'm in charge. You do what I say" line from the dev diary. I hope Hawke doesn't ever say stuff like that to the other companions when they're being disagreeable. I'd rather they argue and try to come to an agreement instead of Hawke simply pulling the 'I'm the boss' card.

Yes, hopefully that was just a sibling rivalry thing. Posted Image

I suppose I'm in the minority, but I'd be quite interested with a darker LI. It seems that that's pretty much the rule with BioWare; Carth, Alistair, Kaidan, and Sky (although those last two are slightly corruptable), are all the good guys. Whereas their female counterparts; Bastila, Morrigan, and Ashley, are a lot darker. Our love interests are usually our conscience on some level.

I'd personally like to see somebody that doesn't fit the goody-goody mould. I really liked Nathaniel Howe because of this. He's got a good heart, but isn't conventionally what we see in BioWare romances. And when I played ME2, I wasn't really impressed by any of the romances there (and good or not, my Shep isn't really over Kaidan), but I remember thinking How awesome would it have been if Jack had been male? My male Shep ended up ditching Liara for her.

Anyway, what I'm driving at, is that from what I've seen, Fenris is already fascinating, and I'd take him good or bad. But bad... bad might be even better.

Well, I say give him a little leeway to get his anger worked out. After all, I can imagine being treated like that for so long would cause some rage. If he's still got the same anger issues like 7 years into the story I might agree with you. It's also a possibility that he doesn't really have too much of a sense of right and wrong, if he's been a slave for a long time. He's probably used to killing people without reason and needs to build a set of morals once he's with the PC.

That's what I thought too, especially after seeing the phase-kill video. He may have never learnt how to play well with others (or he's forgotten) .;)

Sky was *slightly* corruptible? Did we play the same game? You know the one where Sky became an utterly ruthless and efficient Death's Hand and kept up the slave trade that he wanted torn down?

O_o

Zevran was also pretty dark (as long as you didn't go around killing people for the lulz), Garrus is pretty neutral if you renegade him...

Nope, count me in.  I like the bad boys.  At least the ones that BioWare writes, i.e. complex characters.

I'm also pretty tempted to try out the rivalry romance thing.   It might naturally happen since I'm playing a blood mage as my first run.

I didn't imply she tried to initiate the romance. Her dialogue even before you reach any real conclusion with Carth to 'oust' hers is disturbing enough. I don't like to be hit on by other women. Especially what seems to be within a conversation or two. Liara also did this. It's why I couldn't stand her, until LotSB, where she became rather awesome.

It was just too in my face, for me. But that's just me. So I just stopped talking to her at all. Same with Liara.

Edit: Jacob Ninjamance? *pats consolingly*

I got Ninjaromanced by Liara as well, but thought oh well and finished that playthou with her and romanced Thane insted of staying faithful in ME2, in LotSB OMG when she confronts you about that it's like a fist in the face, ouch.

But yes agree with the Juhani thing, I was also being nice and then..wait what??

Here be an answer to the prompt: Flowers.

Prompt: Flowers

The shrine had been Hawke's mother's idea - something simple but beautiful to remember her other daughter by. Rhea hadn't objected to it, releaved that Leandra had finally given up on the idea of searching for her daughter's body. They had built the shrine to a quiet corner of the Hawke estate, decorating it with the few items Bethany had left behind. Carver, Rhea and their mother had also picked several items that reminded them of her. Where her mother and Carver had gone for her favourite colour or a scent she often wore, Rhea had chosen the one thing Bethany had adored above all other.

She had loved flowers. Not for their scent or looks, but practicality. Her herbalism had been an immense help in their times in Lothering - to her siblings, parents as well as some of the most accident prone residents.

At first her companions, brother especially, had tried to stop her from venturing into the woods and fields surrounding Kirkwall alone. But, like her sister, Rhea had steely determination and those who got in the way felt it in their skin. Bull-headedness, some called it, utter stupidity it was to others. Only a few saw it in the real light: it was her determination that saw them out of Lothering, her bull-headedness that dragged her weeping mother and enraged brother out of the city swallowed by darkspawn. There had been no time, no chance to stay and fight - it would've been a suicide and she'd only been one more person dying, fighting for something she couldn't save.

They all knew that the blame fell on bad luck: had the ogre been elsewhere, had they managed to slip through. There were always ifs in things one wanted to change but knew they couldn't. Carver had started to accept this, during the first year he hadn't even spoken about it. Mother was another thing - she had openly mourned her lost daughter as well as shedding a barrage of tears behind closed doors. It took her months to start talking again, after a year and a half she managed a smile. When it came to Rhea, the loss of her only sister was still a bitter and dark place in her chest but she had never searched for a scapegoat to put the blame on.She had accepted in silence and found strength in her loss. She had survived where Bethany hadn't, that was all there was to it. She would not be able to wipe out the darkspawn to get her revenge, she would not be able to track that ogre down. But that day she had decided that no matter what stood in her way, she would emerge victorious. If for nothing else, then to make Bethany proud.

This shrine was the closest they had come to a compromise on how to honor Bethany's memory.

Rhea stood in silence, her gaze lingering on the sea of different-coloured petals swaying in the wind. She had done this every year, on the day of Bethany's death, and it never proved any easier. Her bouquests always consisted of bright colours, complementing her sister's persona, but this year...this year she had deliberately picked the ones with darked colours - not to remember Bethany herself but the feelings remembering her sister awoke in her. But there were not enough colours to put those emotions into, no amount of flowers, no matter what colour, could ease the aching hollow inside of her.

She knelled down to pick another flower with dark blue blossoms, gently bending the stem but it didn't break. Annoyed, she gave the plant a slight yank. Two of the petals came loose and slowly floated down, coming to rest on the ground.

Rhea swallowed the first emerging sobs but couldn't stop the few teardrops that rolled down her cheeks. She stroke the broken flower gently, trying to control the newly emerging sobs. It became more difficult each year, trying to lock Bethany and all the memories revolving around her somewhere deep inside. The smiles, the games they played, the pranks that drove the other residents to near insanity - they were as much a part of her as they were of mother or Carver. But she had to be strong for them in times they found no comfort in their own memories. Here, on the field, amongst the flowers, it was just Bethany and her. Just her memories and sorrows - there was no one to be strong for.

In the field, amongst the wildflowers, Rhea could be weak for herself and no one would ever know. Here she could remember her sister as was proper, with tears she had thought she no longer had.

There was a gentle touch on her should and someone knelled beside her. Rhea sniffled, dried her eyes and raised them to meet the person who had searched her out.

Fenris.

His pale green eyes scrutinized her and it took Rhea a few seconds to understand what she saw in them was worry. She swallowed and looked at him, questions she couldn't voice seeping into her eyes as a mixture of shades and shadows. He nodded slightly and slowly she wrapped her arms around him, letting the tears she had held up for years wet his armor. He whispered her something in a language she didn't understand but found soothing. He placed a kiss on the top of her head and slowly ran his fingers through her hair as she continued to sob in his arms.

Jacob and Kaiden were both frustrating romances for me beacuse they were both so professional.

Yeah I was put off by Kaidan.  I had barely started talking to him and he's lecturing Shepard on professional ethics.  Wow, way to come on to a girl.  And he was dull to boot- IMO of course.

Considering that the protagonist in Dragon Age is in a position of power over the others in the party as well, do you guys think that hitting on the party members is a little weird sometimes? I felt like I was taking advantage of my position sometimes, especially when the companion gives it up really easily (yes, Zevran, I'm looking at y ou.)

Sometimes I did get that vibe, which is why I couldn't quite bring myself to romance Zevran with my HNF.  I also felt it when my male HN was hitting on Iona.  Not so much with the elven Wardens.  There it worked the other way, where I figured it made quite an impression on them that Alistair deferred to their leadership.

Since I plan to play a blood mage, I figure my Hawke will be able to identify as an outcast, even though in Fenris' culture it's the mages who are the oppressors and not the other way around.

Eh.... "slightly" might have been the wrong word. None of that stuff really happens with Sky in-game, though, it's all read in the epilogue. I suppose I was just referring to the differences we see while playing with him.

Sorry to steer things off-topic. So, with that in mind, it seems that we've been getting boat-loads of info these last few days. I think it's time they tell us if Fenris is romanceable or not. I'm dying to know.

I've convinced myself I can live with not knowing if Fenris is an LI before March 8... Lukas' posts in the Aveline thread have made me realize it might be more fun to go into the game not knowing.

Right now, however, I'd love to know if Gideon Emery is really his VA. :innocent: (Gaider stopped by the forum a couple hours ago but he avoided us... Sneaky sneaky...)

You didn't see the way he was being corrputed in game? How he gleefully says Dawn Star is deluding herself thinking Master Li is alive, how you should take power for yourself? How its good you can bind people and how he loves how you like to get dirty (when you slaughter the rest of your companions?). How he says he knows he has to stay strong or you'll abandon him?

*Please note I'm playing JE right now so this is pretty fresh in my mind. It wasn't slightly. At all. He completely morphed to be ruthless and a lot of his dialogue changes to reflect that.

Anyways I'm dying to know as well.

Hm, that's pretty crazy, I thought with his daughter in all, he was just always good. The only time I tried the CF was on a save right before Death's Hand. So it was like my character turned into a complete psycho and made everyone her slaves. They must've been very confused after I spent the whole game helping peasants and turning away money rewards.

EDIT: Forget the correction :D

Malexmale CF sky in my siggy. Will be done soon.

Edit: Though lol that is turning into a pretty much a psycho (sky does have some interesting dialogue in that case). Shame your PC couldn't follow through with some of the threats they made. Then again I guess BW had to draw the line *somewhere*.

LOL. I can't wait to do a rivalry romance with Isabella because I want a hardass warrior and I figure she's gonna be a smartass, too. I don't know about Fenris yet. I'm just gonna play it and pick the reactions that make most sense as I get to know him. Although ... if it's Varric, I'd be all "WHATEVER YOU WANT, BABY!!! CAN I COMB YOUR CHEST? CAN I SIT IN YOUR LAP PLEASE?!"

If you don't mind malexmale the vids in my sig are of a CF Sky. I'm not done yet (should be done by Monday)

Thanks I'll definitely check that out especially since it's so hard for me to find Jade Empire videos and I'm not fond of being evil/renegade/CF.

I know! My favorite was Bishop as well, even though he got cut as a LI, which somehow made his character more believable for me (giving his reaction in the end if you romanced him).
I doubt Bioware'll write such a dark LI, but I'll settle for Nathaniel then

This is what I'm doing now. I lost all my saves as well, so I've spend this year replaying everything. Through with 2 playthroughs... only 2 more to go... but it's starting to get boring
