Down in the Deep Roads, Hawke and her companions were wandering without a target...and no light.

Carver: I told you we should bring some torches! But nooo, Pikachu knows everything!

Lady H: Oh quit complaining already! I never imagined i would remain without mana...and if mr Elf right here wouldn't have destroyed all of my lyrium bottles...

Fenris: Yeah go on...blame it on the elf!

*crack*

Carver: What was THAT?!?!?!

Lady H: We must have stepped on some-

*somebody lights up a match in front of them*

Fangirls: THERE HE IS! MEG!

Fenris: Oh fu-

Hmmm... Not sure. Perhaps a combo of both? But much more unique?

That's a good question, I don't really think he'd be a tykebomb, maybe he was some sort of manual labour slave who was deemed appropriate for the masgister's experiment?

That seems more likely to me, especially knowing that he has memory loss due to severe trauma (DG stated this somewhere either farther back on this thread or in the Meg thread). Having him be a tykebomb wouldn take away the mystique of that loss, though it isn't ruled out.

Perhaps there is a better trope somewhere. The Living Weapon one is a bit off, concerning literal weapons.

Has there truly ever been a unique character in any man-made art or entertainment?

The troper in me says no, but tropes are not bad.

At any rate, I don't think we can call his status as a living weapon into question, that much we do know, the real question is whether he's a super soldier, tykebomb, person of mass destruction or something not yet mentioned.

Hold up, let me find that post really quick-- Shale's mentioned in it too, if I'm correct.

Darn, it's taking me to long so I'll describe what I remember:

"Shale lied down on a anvil and had molten lyrium poured on her. Fenris had lyrium injected into his skin."

Or something like that. I'll keep searching for it.

Shale got on an anvil and had molten lyrium poured directly onto her. Fenris had it pumped into his skin. It's physicaltrauma.

That's where it was! Thank you Nightcobra! *Gives cookies* And you would know that one, because you were the one that got the response.

I'll add this one too:

David Gaider wrote...

So now that we know Fenris was experimented on by a magister and Shale was experimented on by Wilhelm; and both had memory loss-

Does
lyrium have that sort of effect on everyone or just those particular
enchantments done to our companions?  Why don't dwarven miners or mages
who chug lyrium potions suffer memory loss?

It's not "lyrium = memory loss" and more "trauma = memory loss".

=Edit= Removed other quote. Nightcobra already put it up.

So Mary says physical trauma and David supports it with the vaguer 'trauma = memory loss' thanks for finding that nightcobra.

It may be a bit Wolverine (mostly the movies), but at least it is not soap opera amnesia due to finding out about a long lost evil twin sibling or that the child one was pregnant with is not one's own... or something.

Well, out of those two, the "living weapon" stuff makes me lean more towards super soldier.

About his memory loss I think it will be like this:
Timeline:
Before slavery ---> Enslaved ---> Lyrium experiments --- > still a slave  ---> Escaping slavery ---> DA2
Where the bold text is what has been wiped from his memory.

I hope Fenris is like Wolverine, created to be a supersoldier (living weapon) but I do like the "magister trying to achieve the knowlegde of immortality" theory. (I just hope it has failed since I don't want Fenris to be immortal, not when my Hawke is mortal )

Hey now, they're way off in Tervinter or somwhere near there. Besides, I'm sure Hawke could convince her to leave without Fen ever even knowing...[smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/angel.png[/smilie]

What if he is immortal?

I had an idea about that. His personal quest could be about not only defeating the magister or his minions or who ever, but also undoing at least some part of all that was experimented on him.

The quest would end with him having to choose whether or not to keep his immortality. Perhaps some special power or a moral choice would make this decision difficult, but if he is available to romance, perhaps love could come into play as well?

No, more like this I'd think...:

Fen's Wife: *Running towards Fenris* Maker's breath, it's really y- WHOA!

*Fem!Hawke trips Fen's Wife. Wife falls down stairs, sort of comically bouncing until she reaches the bottom and bursts on fire*

Fenris: Err...? What was that about?

Fem!Hawke: I have no idea what you're talking about.

-----

=Edit= New one:

Fen's Wife: *Running towards Fenris* Maker's breath--!

Fem!Hawke: *Waves hand in front of Fen's Wife's face* This is not the shiny elf you're looking for.

Fenris is a really cool name... I am not sure why I associated it with wolves but suddenly I think that it gives him a really interesting potential for his personality...

Well The name Fenris hails from Norse Mythology see the: Fenris Wolf one of the god Loke's children.
Found it abit funny the gave that name to a character cos that's what I named my dog in my first origins playtrough :D
