Nothing much, Gaider confirmed his VA is Gideon Emery (which makes his chances of being an LI pretty high now!)

I keep replaying it over and over again. I once again thank God for my vivid imagination; I can easily imagine Fenris with DAT VOICE!

I think I'm still kind of in shock. Quietness for so long, and then suddenly we hear Lady Hawke and Fenris and we see him in motion and and and... and I'm stunned and so happy about this that I don't think I even feel the happy yet. It's like this slowly spreading warm glow of WOOT worming its way into my soul. I'm afraid of getting my expectations too high, but then again, it's a Gaider-written romance voiced by an awesome, experienced voice actor and given a really, really cool appearance and apprently some really awesome hooks in the storyline, so it's hard to think I can be let down at this point.

Still, before I play I'm going to tell myself all sorts of silly lies and try to believe them just so that I can't be let down. Like, "Fenris is going to have all sorts of conversations with Varric about farting, and then they're going to try to play an old elven song composed entirely of gastric noises." And, "Fenris is going to complain constantly about his bunions." And, "Fenris likes to listen to polka music, and dance to it." And, "Fenris is like the fighter from 8-Bit Theater; every time Hawke says something awesome, he's going to reply with 'I like swords!'" And most importantly, just in case, "Fenris constantly compares Hawke to his beautiful perfect elven wife who is simultaneously tragically dead and tragically alive and he is torn between staying with Hawke and reuniting with her and his 87 starving children who desperately need a father because they're acting out and joining the assassins' league of Kirkwall and either way Hawke has to help him resolve each of their individual plotlines before she can be with him except at that moment he dumps her and is then murdered by his old master who escapes with no chance of Hawke taking any vengeance for his untimely demise." That way I can't possibly be disappointed.

He's totally an LI. Not only is he apparently the only companion Gaider wrote (and Gaider has said he wrote a romance), but he's also quoted in 2009 as saying he would like to use Gideon Emery as the voice for a romance character one day. So I would bet my life savings on it! (Ignoring the fact that I have no life savings because I'm a spendthrift )

I think the only thing that's really up in the air at this point is whether he's a straight or bi romance.

You know, after Aveline being confirmed as not an LI, I thought my heart would crack into tiny little pieces, 'cause I was thinking, they seem kinda like kindred spirits... so if she's not romanceable, maybe he's not either. I had all but convinced myself that I should give up on hoping and just accept that Fenris would not be ours. But your essentially irrefutable logic has made me believe again. I... I need a moment.

Fenris... omg, we can really have him? That is so cool. I feel like... like this is so awesome that it redefines the word awesome to mean something even MORE awesome. Does that sound as silly as I think it does? *wrinkles nose in embarrassment*

*hugs* I hope he is. I want everyone to be able to share in this moment of joy with us (Well, except for Calla, probably because if Fenris is an LI then Anders is almost certainly the other and thus Varric isn't likely, but I can understand that.) But maybe once they see what he's like, everyone will love him. I sure hope so.

That's what I'm desperately hoping for. I don't want it to be one of those things where everything is cool pretty early on... I want tension, I want nail-biting, I want longing and pining and gnawing. I actually hope that Anders gives Fenris a run for his money in the awesome department. Right now I'm thinking it's gonna be Fenris without question, but it will be interesting to have another apostate mage around. If the issues are strong enough, it could go either way, especially if Anders/Vengeance turns out even cooler in DA2 than he was/they were in Awakening.

But either way, I want to be torn. I want to be drawn to both characters.

*stares in fascination* Now that I know for sure that guy basically deserved it, I no longer mind the fact that he phases his fist through somebody's back and presumably tears out his innards. It's a little scary, but cool. I like that Fenris isn't a tame elf.

Haven't we pretty much debated to death everything reasonable? Everything from the height issue, the 'looks like Sephiroth/(insert other japanese character here) issue, the ongoing LI issue, even his potential lack of control of anger and/or powers.



In fact, I'm hoping for the LI confirm now, just so maybe we can have something new to talk about. We've been over the same few topics for nearly 650 pages. I don't know how much more any of us can really say on the topic, as we've all weighed in on them at least twice, I'm sure.
