Still no official confirmation? Or is DG's "Thanks! *smiley*" the confirmation?

Seeing how everyone ignored your question Moon...The "thanks!" from DG was the confirmation because he told everyone on the thread that it was someone he particularly wanted as a voice actor.

I love all of these Carth Syndrome possibilities. They help assuage the pain of actually having to play through Thane's love story in ME2. He was adorable, but...being able to perfectly recall the times you had with another woman anytime you want is not a desirable quality.Posted Image

Don't flame me, guys. But do you think that maybe Fenris is the Di*ck that one of the devs said they decided not to have in their party? Just wondering what your thoughts are on that.

From the clip, I can certainly see that...but I tend to lean towards Anders/Vengeance as the previously mentioned dick...

It's possible. It could also be Varric, as he is very snarky, but I think he's more lovable-snarky than Morrigan-snarky. Some people didn't likes Sten because he was stoic, maybe the dev didn't liked Fenris for the same reason.

It would be something new... And yes, I would like to experience that. :)

Edit: On which one video they said that?

I think it was in one of the threads. I'll see if I can find it.

Edit: Here it is.

Here's the quote, by Chris Priestly:

"Well, you really don't know enough about the party members yet. When I
started my first playthrough I was sure I was going to include X in my
party (name changed to protect the innocent). However, once I met up
with her/him, I found out that he/she was much more of... well... much
more of a dick than I was expecting. Since I was playing a "Mr Nice Guy"
playthrough, I didn't want to use that character once I got to know
them.

However, I was sure to use her/him in my next playthrough where I played as a total snotty bad-ass."

I find it amusing that when talking about past lovers, Carth, Kaidan, Sky, Thane, etc. always say one or both of the following:

"You' remind me of her."

or,

"You would have liked her, I think."

It is possible. But my Hawke will be a determined woman who can dish it as much as she can take it.

One of the things I find in Bioware characters is that there is always more beneath the surface of their personality.

The dev said whoever it was is a good party member to have with you when you want to do a 'bad guy' playthrough. Whoever it is will be okay with you doing things that could be morally objectionable.

I actually thought, on my first readthrough of the comment, that he was talking about Merril. Everyone thinks she's so sweet, but... is she really?Posted Image I don't see why Fenris being a dick would be that surprising to the dev.

I do not.

In that post I think the Dev mentioned being surprised at his/her behavior and especially his/her initial jerkishness for a do-gooder Hawke playthrough. Evidently this character was much easier to deal with when you were a little looser about the implications of good/evil.

I'm not so sure someone like Fenris would be surprising in that context,  especially with his past and his implied personality.  In fact, I believe most are expecting such things from him.

If I think in terms of "surprising" as far as fan-speculation goes and implications of the class of the characters,  Merril and Varric may fit the bill a little more.  A described charming rogue with his own agendas and spy network especially....

Just my thought though.

I hate that. I don't mind if you've had a past relationship but I don't constantly want to be reminded that I remind you of your dead wife. It's like I'm second best or just an imitation of her. I didn't mind it for Kaidan cause that one ended a little badly, and the girl didn't understand Kaidan but Shepard did. But when it's just "My wife died tragically, help me complete these quests to get over her death and then I'll love you like I did her," it's just like, no.

Well, Fenris has amnesia, so you might be able to avoid it. ;)

I agree. I do find myself grateful, however, that those lines I mentioned never happen during an intimate scene.

LI and character share a kiss or whatever and afterward:
LI:
You know, you really remind me of my dead wife/girlfriend/lover/friend with benefits.

Me:
 :( :crying:  :? <_< :pinched: Yeah... I'm gonna go now.

LI:
You can't! You haven't helped me find closure yet. Waaaaiiiit...

Just wanted to add my two cents:

Yes, I am sick of "You remind me of my dead wife." "You remind me of my old girlfriend". "You remind me of my dead significant other." Enough of that, stop beating a dead horse. It is NOT romantic to be told that you remind someone of their former flame. Not cool.

If Fenris is the implied evil jerk character, I am all fine and dandy with that. I love playing the evil ****.

I like the theory! (I remember it being mentioned a few hundred pages ago or somesuch) It reminds me more of Wolverine than Total Recall, though.

I'm definitely open to the idea that Fenris was a very different person before he lost his memory, possibly a very bad person. If he ever gets back his memories it'd be interesting if Hawke is able to influence how he reacts to that - like how he reconciles his old memories with the new memories he's made with Hawke. Maybe he gets to 'choose' who he wants to be and what life he wants.

Dang it, I want this game already. I must know what happens! Posted Image
