I agree that he would probably get angry with Hawke for trying to talk with him about the time he spent as a slave, because of the pain and trauma it caused. Do you think Hawke could push him too far with his/her questioning at one point, where he gets so angry he goes off on him/her?

Yes! And then we get the "push you up against a wall" cutscene we're all secretly hoping for.

Or maybe not so secretly... ^_^

I just have to say that I really love this thread. I go in here, look at beautiful images and supported people fawning and loving, speculating and enjoying a wonderful game.

First sign of a troll, and there are a good chunk of people banding together, knocking some sense into the person, and returning to feeling damned good about themselves.

Its more than I can say for other threads, but Fenris' is definitely a beautiful, warm place of enjoyment.

I can see it now:

Zev: (Drunk off his feet) Hello my dear I must say that is a very unique hair color for a woman.

Fenris:
I'm not a woman.

Zev:
Well that's alright....nice tatoos too, want to see some of mine?

Isabela: Don't mind him Fenris, Zevran's just a little more off his rocker than usual.

Zev: Warden...Warden...Oh hello Isabela, is it time to go back into The Pearl again? (Wraps arm around Fenris' shoulder) Come my fair-haired goddess, we will go and ride the waves in Isabela's cabin! (Stands up ready to leave)

Isabela:
Zev, that's not such a great idea. Fenris here is spoken for....

(Suddenly Zevran is struck by a bolt of magical lightening knocking him out cold)

Bethany: Good riddance, (looks towards Fenris) Are you alright sweetheart?

Fenris:
(looking at the singed Antivan Crow) Never better my dear.

That's it. Bethany is so going to die in my playthrough, if I can get her killed.

See what you have done, you evil, you! I'm thinking about killing my character's sister because of you pairing Fenris with her! :pinched:

given his background, I think it will either be fairly easy to push him over the edge, or almost impossible because he's been through so much anything the PC can say amounts to nothing. I will also feed the fire by speculating that pushing him far enough could push him irrevocably over the edge of sanity (not fun for a LI but really intriguing for a game character).

I wish there was a civil discussion about his flaws, would only make him more interesting.

 There are a handful of threads here are like that. Fenris is definitely one of them.
I wouldn't dwell on this spot on daily basis if it's not good.

EDIT@TIM, your chibi had never failed to make me squeak.

It would make sense to me. Sometimes your "mind" is able to make a breakthrough through a breakdown. Just letting all the pent up pain/fear/anger etc. out to (maybe) the first person ever he trust.

flaws are the essence of humanity - his flaws (much like Zev's or Alistairs) will make him a believable character.

I suspect he will have a great many, simply because of his background: superficial arrogance covering a poor sense of self worth seems most likely but any number of things could show up.

I definitely wish he weren't so lean, but that is my opinion.

I think once more information is released on him, those discussion will happen. The only thing we have to go on him is his mysterious past, mysterious appearance, and damn beautiful tattooos. A lot of speculation without much concrete anything.

A lot of trolls on this thread I noticed are guys who probably feel insecure about how a bunch of ladies (and a few other men) are appreciating his assets, and don't know how to assert their tastes except be downright insulting and rude. Whoever made the comment about how he was surprised the games weren't being sound directed by Miley Cyrus considering the 'audience' made me cringe. BS. There aren't even images of Female Hawke on the darned website, and you are complaining about a handful of ladys (and guys) getting excited over an attractive NPC? Its cutting and irritating.

The smarter discussions will happen soon enough.

I stll miss his stubble.

I'm really glad you feel that way. ^_^ Some threads (not just on this forum) can come off as unwelcoming - it's nice to know Fenny's isn't one of them.

Signed - as soon as we actually know some of his flaws, of course. /Is a fan of flawed characters. (edit for clarity- i'm talking character flaws here, not physical.)

This thread feels alot like the Zev thread - just good people getting together to talk about something they enjoy.

I wonder if he will be cold and distant like Morrigan, since I imagine he doesn't really know how to socialize considering his history.

I would dig that. I really loved her character, and a different interpretation of that snark would be intriguing.

Ha, that is one of the simpler things I could dislike about him. It is far too late in the night for me to get down to what kind of a person his brief appearances and descriptions make him to be, and what I might perceive as a flaw. But the lack of information definitely pushes the squee and positive emotions to its high levels, hardly any flaws to see.

Or well, the ones who already complain about him looking too anime and feminine happen to appear from time to time.

But yes, he is rather skinny for a warrior. Although appearances tend to be misleading, and his strength might also come from the magic. I think my Hawke will refer to him as Skinny all the time (behind the scenes), kind of like that feminist science teacher from Daria did to that sensitive literature teacher.

Once we get more info I'll be all over his various flaws, I find a flawed character to be the bes type of character, if they have no flaws they aren't really 'human' after all, not really relatable.

Morrigan was one of my favorite characters and I think Fenris being cold and distant seems like a good guess.  He certainly has no reason to trust anyone - particularly a shemlen.

Sorry, the Hawke I envision in my head is a guy, besides I'd like to at least have some deeper NPC interactions that don't revolve around Hawke.

As for Fenris' flaws I can't really tell what he'll be like at this point, there's not enough dialouge for me to get enough of a picture of his character beyond what my overactive imagination can come up with.

Character wise , when I hear "Memory Loss in a Bioware Game" I think of Darth Revan or HK-47 from KOTOR. What would be interesting would be if over time Hawke or another magic user could restore some of Fenris' memories. (IE complete a major mission, talk to Fenris, make a skill check, and then get dialogue).

My first femHawke will be a rogue so there might be more of a connection, but I still think his friendship (or possible romance) will require very careful navigation. I would hope there is specific dialog relating to a mage PC given what he has been through.

Of course, this statement also makes him come across as arrogant and kind of grim. Hmm....

To me it only comes across as justifiably badass. :D I'd say the same kind of thing if I was a living weapon with a backstory like that. xD

It would be interesting if it was extra challenging trying to romance him with a mage. (if he is a LI)

I think he'll be serious, calm and collected. And he'll keep to himself. Not like Sten exactly, but maybe something similar. At least in the beginning, he'll probably open up after some time knowing Hawke.

Now, see, I'm not that worried about a Bethany/Fenris romance. As long as my Hawke has the equal chance to woo him too (unlike being helpless while watching Nathaniel/Velanna's flirty-flirting ).
I look forward to competing for him (and/or other LI) against Bethany.

Then again, I would hope that a Bethany/Fenris (or Bethany/anybody) is something we can influence and even prevent if we wanted to... Just so the game would be more replayable.
For example, I wouldn't want every playthrough where I romance Fenris to HAVE to include competing against Bethany every time.

Maybe there will be a way Hawke can use her persuasion or influence skills to encourage Bethany to back off? If your Hawke's skills are too low, or if your relationship with Bethany is bad, you won't be able to convince her to stay away from your man? :D
