Is the rivarly different from the "hate" line in DA:O or have they just worded it better? Or is it more along the lines of competition but with respect thrown in?

Fenris is now my wallpaper on my phone<3

I'm counting on Fenris being the aforementioned jerk.

A guy with a past you should feel sympathetic towards him for but an attitude that punts all sympathy out the window. Sounds fun to write.

Like Bishop?

Never played any games featuring this 'Bishop' so, if you say so. I am a BW noob. *sheilds self*

He said if he told us what the accent is, we'd guess the VA.  South African--> Gideon Emery.  I am hoping the South African actually comes through a bit.

Gotta admit, while I love Gideon Emery, I thought it was a little funny that his 'unusual' accent is one I share. Here I was thinking Irish or Icelandic. When you think of 'unusual' accents, you never think of your own as being unusual to someone else around the world.

Guess it'll take some getting used to. :)

And I have a pretty strong feeling that Fenris is the jerk character. Not 100%, but it's there. I think it'll be... interesting if he is.

Also, love interests announcement tomorrow? *puppy eyes*

I think it has nothing to do with the hate line in DAO, but is in the "competition" way as you say. It's clearly gonna be interesting.:D

See, I just don't enjoy spending time with jerks. It's something I really try to avoid.

Maybe I don't need to roleplay a gay character this time. Maybe my mage can just hang out with Merrill.

Jerk might not be 'mean' but could be like... assertive, domineering, needlessly violent, any sort of thing you wouldn't want getting in the way of a 'paragon' playthrough (to borrow a Mass Effect-ism) as Chris (I think it was Chris) described.

You could call Morrigan a jerk, or you could call her ruthlessly pragmatic. Not good in some situations, but not unwelcome overall.

Edit: Oh, that's Bishop? Hehe. Snaaark. <3

Heh, I'm sure.  I've traveled quite a bit and am pretty good with accents, but South African and New Zealand sometimes trips me up at first.  It's like English but with a little somethin' somethin'.  I like it.  South African especially.

Well, Bishop is an Obsidian character, actually. ;) Your description reminded me of him because he had a sad childhood (probably unloved and mistreated, stands in contrast to the PC) and he grew up to be a jerk with a side of evil.

The devs have described the friendship/rivalry path as either "hey, you make good decisions I agree with. I think we're gonna get along fine" to "Listen, I don't agree with any of the choices you make, and you never consider my opinion, but hell, I respect you so I'm just gonna shut my trap and do what you say"

As far as romances go, I think Mike Laidlaw said that a rivalry romance would go along the lines of "argh, you ****** me off so much, I hate that I love you so much!"

Either way, my reaction is "sweeeeeet" Posted Image

I am going to be constantly poking Fenris just to hear him speak.<3

LOL  "We should move on" playing on a loop.  Maybe after the 20th time you click on him he gets the "Kali Ma" face on and says "We really should move on now."  *cue eyebrow*

We finally got to hear Fenris voice and confirmation of the VA, that's very nice indeed.

Regarding the voice in general, I have very mixed feelings about it.. I do find it nice, just not very fitting with Fenris :crying:
It also doesn't help me that his voice keep reminding me of a japanese character (english voice) I once heard (can't remeber from where, but I know it wasn't from any FF-game), which, in my head, distances his voice even more from Fen.

Hopefully his voice will grow on me (I had the same problem with both Zevran and Varric) when I get to hear it in some other contexts and actually seeing him talk.

Aw, I would call Morrigan an unhappy young woman putting up a brave front.

I heart her and am happy to let her have her defenses while she feels she needs them.

Except many of the things she advocates aren't pragmatic at all. A far better example would be Miranda Lawson from ME2 (ignore her OOCness on the CB).

She can be seen as somewhat of a jerk but nearly everything she does is for pratical reasons.

Edit: Took out Morrigan rant.

Precisely. There are compelling reasons to sympathize with everyone. And there are compelling reasons not to. Jerkitude is highly subjective.

I heart Morrigan too. :)

i'd heart her as well if she stopped disapproving every time i try to be a good guy.
i usually don't like evil characters, only when they're good underneath like loghain/amon jerro or amusing like hk-47.

I <3Morrigan too, my favorite female character. I regret what happens at the end of the Witch Hunt (though it was expected...), but I hope we'll get to see her again... for now, we'll stuck with the mother^^ which is not a bad thing, I thought she was a nice character in DAO...

Anyway, in DAO it was hard not to find good sides in everyone. I hope it will be the same in DA2 (no reason it won't be, after all :))
