That he sounds so self-assured and 'I win, but I'm stating the obvious' is a +jerk attribute, but would a true jerk leave the ringleader to run while he can? He doesn't, but he did give a warning before pwning him. Just musing, but maybe that's a sign of mercy. Somewhat. Otherwise he could have just killed the all straight off and been done with it.

I picture Fenris trying to cultivate some sort of superstition among the men that his Master sends after him. He just wants to be left alone. So if he comes off as this cold-blooded killer that scares people away it keeps him safe.

I can imagine it now:

(A tavern in the Tevinter Imperium)

Mercenary: Did you hear about that elf Gareth's men went after?

Bounty Hunter: Yeah, I heard that it tore this guy's heart out with his bear hands

Pirate: That's nothing I heard that it took out have a legion of Auxilia with nothing but a rusty dagger.

Mercenary: You couldn't pay me enough to go after that guy.

(The Magister walks into the tavern)

Magister: (In a loud booming voice) Greetings gentlemen! I come with a proposition for you, how would you all like the chance to serve your Imperium? (no one stands up) I am willing to pay a hefty sum for your services! (everyone remains seated) Anybody? (sighs and walks out of tavern)

Bartender: I don't even want to know what that maniac is doing right now.

(Meanwhile in Kirkwall)

Fenris: (petting a kitten behind the ears) Who's a good kitten?

Hawke: Uh... what are you doing?

Fenris: ... Training.

Hawke: ...

Anders: He's training Ser Pounce-a-lot to be a WHAT!?!?

Fenris: Pfffft, nooooo?

I think that he just was showing pure hatred for the magister's goons.  My guess would be that he is dark/irritable/but a softie on the inside

Some speculation has lead to that. And he's got that theatrical, confident inflection. Putting his back to the soldier guy like he isn't a threat. dbflasdjfsldf.

No, it may have been because of his slave past, how he escaped and
such... these 9 seconds just added to the "mess". Though he may be
tagged as the "cold guy" for now, let's just wait and see once we'll
play the game (if we don't get more of him before DA2 is out)

I thought it sounded like he was kind of gritting his teeth as he said it. 

All I'm saying is I really wouldn't spend time getting upset at his character when we don't know for sure. Just a couple days ago, a lot of people thought Fenris was a mindless murderer cause it looked like he killed a random guy for touching him. 

Unless he was smiling, which we can't see, I don't think he's all that cocky, just annoyed that they are chasing him.

Ok, I just thought people were dreading that he might be the jerk character Priestly talked about. Personally, I don't know how anyone can be considered a jerk by Priestly when he is the master of

My guess is it happens a lot and he is fed up of killing the magisters minions, if anything it sounds like he is giving them a chance to leave and live not goading them in to combat or mocking them but may be that's just me. Would an infuriatingly overconfident elf not be just the type to have a steamy hatemance with? The character has to be a little abrasive to get you to want to disagree and fight with him. You're not going to be all Spike and Buffy screwing the house down waking up under the carpet with a character that doesn't tick you off at least a little bit. Preferably a lot.

Just sayin'.

Are you telling me that you are surprised that a character thread (particularly *THIS* character thread) takes a small piece of dialogue and constructs an entire personality for him?

I swear, basd on the amount of personalities this thread has given him, Im almost surprised that the writers haven't changed him into the MPD guy
