It would be interesting if it was extra challenging trying to romance him with a mage. (if he is a LI)

If such a dynamic exists in-game it would encourage me somewhat to go down the mage!Hawke route. Does that tempt anyone else?

Maybe there will be a way Hawke can use her persuasion or influence skills to encourage Bethany to back off? If your Hawke's skills are too low, or if your relationship with Bethany is bad, you won't be able to convince her to stay away from your man? :D

Ugh, don't want to compete for men with a fictional little sister, already have that looming on the horizon in reality (my little sister is a darling, she just so happens to look like a super model <_<) so if Fenris/Bethany is an option, I'm hoping that it's sort of like Leliana and Zevran, only if you don't swoop in.

Anyone think that Fenris could be the Keystone in a Doomsday Device? He is literally a walking lyrium battery. His purpose may have been as a weapon X like Wolverine, plus as the power source of a magic Doomsday Device.

Alistair only said that because he'd never actually been, *ahem* swooped.

certainly would add depth to the plot.  I would like to think that there was a real reason for the torment he was put through - but humans (or dwarves or elves) can be stupidly cruel to.

You don't actually, as far as I know, they just flirt from what I can tell, I usually romance Zevran, so I'm not positive. Either way it isn't as bad as the Nathaniel/Valena flirtations.

agreed.  I think that if the Warden wasn't involved with Zev, something might develop between them post-blight.  I'm not sure that it would be more than a fling, but something might happen.  Of course I've only had two playthroughs where I haven't romanced Zev (and the first one got dumped by Alistair and had a fanfic about a post-blight Zev romance).

Fenris strikes me as a Jack-like character, he's been through hell and has so far made it out alive.
My big worry is that while Jack in ME2 was a pretty deep character, there was so much of her character development and backstory tied up in her romance sidequest that if you played a female Shepard you missed out on a great deal of her dialogue.

What I'd like is the chance for Hawke to actually have platonic relationships with his party, something that hopefully the friend/rival system will help with.

As for Fenris having issues with a Mage!Hawke I can see an exchange like this happening:

Fenris: (walking through The Gallows in Kirkwall) Look at this, the dammned Magisters tortured these people the same way they did me. Good riddance.

Hawke:
The Magisters did this to you?

Fenris: Isn't it obvious? I would think you could recognise the handiwork of your own kind.

Hawke: I may be a mage but I am no monster.

Fenris: Makes no difference to me, you have no idea what its like to be hunted down like an animal, to be tortured, to be treated like some kind of twisted experiment.

Hawke: I do know what it feels like, back in Ferelden my family was hunted down by the Chantry, and should they have found us they would have made my sister and I "tranquil" they would have turned us into vegtables in order to hold up their superstitious beliefs about mages. So do not presume to lecture me on what I do and do not understand Fenris.

Fenris: My mistake then. Let us travel on in peace.

The only question I have is how old is Fenris? According to DAO's codex the Magisters (like the one Fenris was imprisioned by) disappeared from Thedas many hundreds of years ago, this would mean that Fen could be a very old elf, and supports the whole "immortal" idea.

Well the magisters are still in Tervinter proper, no? I mean, the imperium is more or less gone, but much like modern day England it's still alive and kicking* so the magisters are still present there, yes? I simple say that because we know Fenris' former master is still looking for him, and I find it unlikely the magister him/herself would have actually achieved immortality.

*not to say England enslaves elves/anyone else at the moment.

Yep, I'm pretty sure Tevinter magisters still exist. I remember speaking with someone in-game who mentions their "palaces floating above the slums of elven alienages and slave pens" or something. Totally paraphrased, by the way.

Yeah I can't remember where I read it but fairly certain th magisters still rule Tevinter (though they aren't the same ones that would have invaded the Golden City, obviously).

Found this note on the archons (the Head-of-State figures for Tevinter):

Archon Nomaran — Elected in 7:34 Storm "directly from the ranks
of the enchanters". His rise saw mages regain open political power in
Tevinter, and was therefore condemned as "a return to the days of the magisters"
by those outside Tevinter. The people of Tevinter itself, however, are
said to have greeted his election with "great applause".

That's about 200 years before where we are now in the timeline but it was the most up-to-date info I could find on who rules Tevinter at the moment.

I was re-watching the making of video for DA2 and noticed our elf friend in it, I was wondering if anyone else could see any of his personality from the pose he's in.

Posted Image

Sorry for the cruddy image, you can find the source of it in the video at about 3:24.

^ Yeah. I do see personality in that pose. I would like to say I think he's the type to sit back and watch Hawke and other companions... and the type to keep to himself with private matters... buuuuuut we don't know enough for me to confidently say that.

Or maybe not so secretly... ^_^

B) HELL YES! B) To above comment. I also agree with others here that if people keep pairing Beth with Fen, my Fem!Hawke is conviently not going to have a sister anymore, just a pile of ashes.

I like this ideal dialogue. I imagine Hawke speaking a little faster the usual with the last reply, and either getting faster the angrier Hawke got or slower. Plus emphasis on Fenris' name. Fenris I see having a sort of sarcastic but cold voice in the last reply.

I also wonder how old Fen's going to actually be. He has no memory. We have no idea if possibly the lyrium they were pumping into him extended his life and / or is making him not age (I'm not using the phrase immortal. The elves of Arlanthan weren't immortal, their bodies just didn't age). The only thing that makes me believe he might be normal-aged is that in Tevinter itself (if I remeber the Codexes correctly), some of the mages are still referred to as Magisters. Not including, it would be sort of bittersweet to see Fenris as untouched by age. Bitter because if he's a LI for Hawke (and the player goes for it), Fen's going to keep on living (unless he finds a way to age, and that's if he wants to) and sort of watch Hawke slowly die. Sweet because he's the first of the elves in ages to return to the old way of basically living on for as long as their spirit can hold them up.

'Tis always a bit tragic when immortal beings fall in love with mortals..

*looks over at the Doctor*

And just so you lot know, this thread has successfully made me plan a "thrown against the wall by a love interest" scene for my fanfic. I just can't stop thinking about it! If such a scene exists for Fenris, I may have to convert over to the "wanting him as a LI" camp. Why is that imagery so darn powerful and..enticing. Cannot stop thinking about it.
