Forget the weapons, is he an LI?

He MUST be, he's way too cool not to be one. :)

No he isn't. Now back to the weapon discussion.

My two guesses were that he was a Harvester and a Tevinter assassin, so I guess I was 25% right.

Carver?

I think he's a dead man walking.  But that's just my guess.

Anyway, the screenshot above makes it pretty clear he is wielding a weapon with a large handle - a two-handed sword.

Yeah he is totally a warrior as I (and others) predicted. I have a feeling he'll have an interesting specialisation though, I'm tempted to go with it being magic based and involve his tatts as well.

Loving the idea of his character though, I had considered Tevinter slave, but the whole 'Wolverine' (etc.) turn him into a weapon angle is great.

Still prefer Varric as a LI though. ;)

Heh. The shotgun approach would mean that at least one of the guesses would have to be correct, yes. Posted Image

Yeah, most of the times I peeked in the Meg thread the prevailing opinion was that he was from Arlathan!

mine was that he was both an arlathan elf that was made a slave by tevinter to become their weapon.

not bad, i got two thirds right.:D

You could have made him into a female nug. I think that was one of the few things not mentioned.

Nope, there was brief mentioning of Fenris being a magical nug-goat in disguise.

I was right about him being a Tevinter Magisters slave, and the fact that he was experimented on.
Then again, I was the one that started a lot of the theories about him, so one of them was bound to be correct.

The animation looks very dual-wieldy, but the sword looks quite two-handed.

Maybe he can dual-wield with two-handed weapons

Nice choices on the screenshots for the character page. I'm totally fawning over them. Have we heard any reasons for his lack of footwear yet?

Hot diggity, Meg is Fenris. And that's a long sword he wields, so I say he's a 2-hander for now.

I'm sort of amused/confused/concerned about the Fenris banners claiming that they're one of his slaves. I wonder if he'd be offended by that, especially considering he was one and he broke the chains by force. It seems like it might be a sensitive subject for him. Or just one that makes him very angry.

Otherwise, he looks alright. I'm glad he's a warrior.

Any Joe Abercrombie fans here? Fenris smells a bit like a character from the first law trilogy who's surprisingly also called Fenris. Shockingly enough Fenris in Joe's books has tattoo's burned in to one half of his body making him in to an almost immortal living weapon, a bit like our elf buddy here.

Yeah, the similarities were not lost on me either.

As for the screen that makes it look like he's dual wielding- I think thats just the two hander's animation where he sort of lets go of it at the end of  a swing, as you could see in some of the old bootleg videos.

Does anyone else feel as though they've been away from the forums for a century because of this reveal?
No? 'Tis just me, then.

Oh, I see it. Like Sunder Armor or whatnot, when a 2H'er swings it above their head, slashes the enemy, and, in the followthrough, lets go of the sword with their left hand.

Well I was the one who said he is an Arlathan elf. And David screwed up.

It looks like Fenris will play a bigger role in DA2 then he did in Origins. My warden, Loki, will be happy to know of this. (I named Loki's dog Fenrir)

The 1% wins out, I guess.

2-hander Elf? Schuweet
But is he a companion or just a character? I've noticed that you've never explicitly said in this thread or in the character section whether or not he's a companion, might've said it somewhere else.

Wasn't it discussed on the MEG thread a while back that Isabela helped ME..Fenris escape? Maybe it's his fault that the Siren's call was reduced to timber, because the Tevinters followed them. I don't know if DA 2 will have flashback's in the form of cutscenes but maybe that's what we are seeing.

They typically don't give NPC's their own page in the World section for the official site, at least if Awakening and Origins are anything to go by. I'd say he's a companion.

I like to think he'd find it amusing that he has his own group of 'slaves', like Alistair might if people called themselves his 'subjects', though it's true we don't know how he'd take it. It wasn't done in seriousness, anyway - just until I can come up with a better byline. ^_^

And do we actually know he's a warrior? It's hard keeping up. v.v

*pinches bridge of nose*

Does the second one that shows him in a forest prove that you get him in a forest?
