I haven't actually written a story in ages, but here goes (oh and there might be a few errors in there, don't shoot me):
Stars
He liked lying in the grass by himself and look at them,
the stars. It was something about the quiet sky and solitude that he
loved. He couldn't remember why. Usually this didn't bother him, but
tonight she wouldn't leave his thoughts. Hawke.
Her name brought a barely visible smile to his face as he lay there with his hands folded
beneath his head and looking off into the distance. He could picture
her, the way her short hair caressed her face, how she walked, the way
she tilted her head ever so slightly to the right and thousands of other
small things. They were all burned into his memory. Strange, how some
things you can never remember, while other things you can never forget.

She
had woken up suddenly during the night and whatever she did could not
fall asleep again. This night wasn't a particularly chilly one so maybe a
short walk would do the trick. By now the people that roamed the
streets would know better than to mess with her. They've learned their
lesson. She didn't really pay attention to where she was walking, her
eyes were fixed on the starry sky above.
The last person on earth she expected to run into in the middle of the night was now standing
right in front of her. Well, now that she thought about it it wasn't
really that strange to run into Fenris here. He lived not far from here
afterall, and Kirkwall wasn't that big to begin with.
For a moment they just stood there staring at each other. She thought she saw
something in his eyes, those green eyes always seemed to find hers even
from the other side of the world. She was about to open her mouth but
Fenris beat her too it. "Well well, it is a small world afterall.
Imagine running into the Lady Hawke in the middle of the night, and in
this part of town of all places The Lady must be lost, maybe she needs a
gentleman to help her home?." his sarcasm made her smile. For some
reason he always did that. Weird.
"Oh the poor Lady Hawke has never
been good at finding her way", she said while obviously faking a scared
tone, "Maybe Ser could be so kind as to help a damsel in distress?" She
walked over to him and put her hand in his. He didn't flinch anymore
when she touched him, and if he was uncomfortable he didn't show it.
"Of course" was all he replied, but he didn't let go of her hand. "The
stars are shining so brightly tonight, just like your eyes." The last
part was bare audible, barely a whisper even. She didn't know what to
respond to that. They'd flirted a bit through the time they'd known each
others but never had he actually show any romantic interest in anyone.
She'd thought about romancing Fenris before, which sane girl wouldn't.
But she didn't know how he' would react so she had waited. Now she was
speechless. She noticed he had turned his head slightly towards her,
probably to check if she'd heard it at all.
She stopped, Fenris turned around to see why. Her free hand wrapped itself around his neck
gently and she leaned in and kissed the elf. Later when she thought back
to this moment she'd explain it as instinct. Neither of them had wanted
to be the first to break apart and when they did no one knew what to
say. "This was a mistake" he said as he turned around and walked away
into the night.
They didn't know yet, but Fenris had never been more mistaken.
(Edited because the forum doesn't play nice with copy/paste from my lj apparently)
