Varric seems to be the first one to recrut (well it's kinda obvious, being the narrator), then Aveline and Isabela... I don't count Hawke's siblings of course. ^^

Yeah, I like being able to be in control of when I recruit people. I always got mildly miffed that I had to get through 2 missions before I could get my grubby little paws on Zevran (and these days I always tend to do Redcliffe then the Urn, leaving the treaties for after). It made the Urn mission in particular seem reeeaaaaaallllllly loooooooooooong.

*is no good with delayed gratification*

I won't comment on the ME2 'collect your squad' missions either, because I'll only get supremely grumpy that they are considered 'main missions' in the first freaking place.

*can hear Gabby's voice: "Cata, you're commenting on the ME2 'collect your squad' missions"*

I think Aveline is first actually you escape the blight lands with her.

Aveline should be first, she's with you when you're escaping from Lothering.

I think Aveline is first actually you escape the blight lands with her.

Oh, I see, I thought there was only Hawke and his sister/brother (depending on your class). You're probably right then.

I thought you got Zevran after one mission.

Yeah you get Zev after you complete one of the world map quests. Ugh I hope Fenris isn't like that. By then I already have my party and I'm not swapping them out for some newb.

I thought you got Zevran after one mission.

I'm still not sure...

Rogue DW Hawke, Seb as an archer, [any mage, but I think Anders] and Fenris... Wait, that's 3 guys and one girl. o.o'
Maybe switching Anders with Bethany or Merrill.. nah, I'll just have to play the game multiple times. *grin*

Yes, that too. I'd like to have my sis around too (since I'll be playing tank warrior or 2-weapons rogue at first)... ah well, I'll just test them all and see^^ Varric and Fenris will stuck for sure. <3

My team is shapeing up the same way. I may switch it up every now and then but Fenris stays.

Just need one person with heavy armor with me, to "tank" all the mobs... If I don't play a tank warrior, Fenris will play that part (poor guy, getting all the punch well, Oghren did when I didn't take Alistair with me, soo... many "fist through chests" will fly around )

I hope DA2 doesn't have any segments like the Tower where if you didn't want to kill Wynne you had to switch out one of your current people for her and have her in the party. That was rage inducing. 

Especially in my runs where everyone equally contributed and I had a great balance going on.

@Minxie, *hug*. I don't care what they said about Anders (gosh, have you guys seen the Anders thread lately?)(the DA II one), either. He had gone to the dark side, so what? I had Kreia by my side during the course of TSL and I had no problem. XD

I'm almost 100% sure we will have at least one of those moments -> Deep Roads part, I believe Varric's brother is the one who takes you there, so I assume we will be forced to take Varric with us.

I hope that's early enough in the game that you don't have to swap someone out for him. (Like Morrigan you didn't have enough slots in the first place so she was welcome...somewhat.)

Having balanced team is always winning, and interesting for the story. I've played all my characters in my runs too, but just always stuck with a favourite one, I couldn't help it. It was Oghren for my first Warden, and Zevran for my main Warden.
