Romance: (perhaps Rivalry, could be Friendship, depends on how he is?) The Cross - Within Temptation

Or maybe it's just because I am excessively pissed off about irl things atm that I'm in a darker-music mood. :P

Hmm... I was going for "Faster", but okie dokie. :D

For Fenris romance songs, only one song comes to mind. Contagious - Trapt

Your Obsession - Joanna

"I'm gonna mess you up so bad.

I'm gonna drive you completely crazy.

Be the best thing you ever had.

I'll make you love me.

I'll make you love me..."

For those of us who want to take our Hawkes on the more creeper yet still adorable route. Is that possible? I think so. ^_^

I'm not sure if anyone asked this before but I noticed this Codex entry the other day and this paragraph caught my eye:

Similarly, even when you send your mind into the Fade,
your body remains behind. Only once has this barrier been overcome, and
reputedly the spell required two-thirds of the lyrium in the Tevinter Imperium as well as the lifeblood of several hundred slaves. The results were utterly disastrous.

(from the wiki)

The Codex links the results to the Darkspawn but Fenris has that ability where he can phase through things. Is it possible that this ability was an attempt to recreate that spell? He did have lyrium burnt into his skin by a Tevinter magister and he was once a slave.

This is interesting. Makes me wonder what the magister's end game was. Perhaps an exalted march on the Black City or the Maker himself. Hm...

I love serious discussion! :wub::wub::wub::wub:

Make you wonder who's the elite boss in DA II aye? I kind of hope they will reveal that soon. Did they reveal that in Origin before the game release? Anyone know?

I do, as well. There's been a bit less of it as of late, but with VA and LI conformation I suppose it's understandable.

I'm thinking the big bad is whoever we choose it to be. From the impression I have so far the major conflict is going to be Chantry vs. Mages. So depending upon who you sided with either Meredith or Orsino. That's my guess.

I don't really see how??  The lyrium burned into Fenris' skin was to make him into a powerful warrior.  The storming of the Golden City was a mass event that sucked up huge quantities of lyrium and lifeblood.  I don't really see the connection, or maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're getting at?  Also Fenris isn't a mage, so I imagine he has the same connection to the Fade that any non-mage elf would, just entering it in dreams.  OTOH he does have that white effect like Fade Shroud.  Will be interesting to see what that is.

I know that Fenris isn't a mage but he was the Magister's slave, maybe he wanted to test the spell on Fenris before he used it himself?

Just discovered that my brother doesn't understand the meaning of the word 'preorder.' Pathetic. -sigh-

So, songs for a Fenris romance anyones?

Angsty: Louder Than Thunder - Devil Wears Prada
OR My Immortal - Evanesence

Friendship: Everytime We Touch - Cascada OR Bring Me to Life - Evanesence

Rivalry: Come Undone - The Used OR Whispers in the Dark - Skillet

Yeah, I just got done listening to my MP3 player, and these songs stuck in my mind.

Rivalry: Howl - Florence + The Machine (More of a beginning of the relationship song)

Rivalry + Fluff + Angst: Die for You - Megan McCauley (And the end)

So you think the magister is trying to get into the Black City??  Why would he do that?  Just trying to figure out what the angle is.

Well, the lyrium experiment must have had another purpose besides making Fenris a very strong warrior. It seems to me as though the Magister wanted to test the boundaries of magic....so yes perhaps he was testing something new.....Lyrium is very expensive so this Magister went to great lengths to test it, whatever it is. I mean, the lyrium has a connection to how he can phase through but lyrium also has a connection to the fade so...

I hope so. But it was said that if you are rivals with someone, once you max out the gauge you can either change their mind about a big issue (I'm guessing this is it for the both of them) or they leave in a huff (or you kill them, maybe). I plan on having them both in party at all times just for this possibility. And Isabella. I shall romance all three at once. It will be an interesting first playthrough.

haha since we don't really know how the romance will go I'm not too sure of a song, but for the time being the song that pops to mind when I think of how I envision the romance to go is MISIA's Edge of This World (), which is a Japanese song but the part of the lyrics that strikes me most is:

"If there's something I strongly wish for I can live more like myself

If I can find something for someone's sake someday, I'll choose the path of believing"

the rest of the lyrics are http://carlenne.live....com/20198.html if you're curious to see the rest.

I'm kinda grasping at straws here or using old cliches, but what if they are trying to MAKE mages? So they can overthrow the Chantry or something. Since most mages are caught and taken to the Circle, maybe first they need to make mages the Templars CAN'T catch.

What if Fenris was actually allowed to escape so they can test to see if he's catchable or not? I'm not sure what their backup plan is in case he did get caught, but it's food for thought.

Maybe he does want to get into the Black City. It's possible that there is a lot to learn about the Darkspawn from the Black City or the Golden City. That is, if the Golden City wasn't just a metaphor or something.

When I read the codex entry I was mostly wondering if a lot of slaves had to die for Fenris to get that phasing ability. I suppose I could've been a little clearer in my original post.

Edit: Spelling

I think in this case, they aren't leaving you because of their personal feelings for you. For example, if we're going with Fenris hates mages route and you romance him, if you side with the mages, he'll still love you but if you're going to take this path then he can't come with you. He doesn't hate you, but he's not about to abandon his own convictions. This is just an example, though, but yeah.

Am definitely going to do a couple of playthrough to explore that area. I remember in the Urn's quest, if you didn't take Wynne and decided to distroy the Urn, then she will not attack you. But Leliana will regardless you take her or not. And if you spared Loghain, Alistair will simplly left.

Similar situation happened in Awakanings as well. Could this be one of the 'hook' David mentioned?

Time to go, my usual Wednesday night off.

Don't forget the prompt tomorrow (NZ time).

Night.

Well in Tevinter the mages are the ones in charge, and the Black Divine goes along with it (or maybe is a mage? can't remember).  I would guess they want "superweapons" to use against the Qunari, since that seems to be their biggest problem as of game time.

What if Fenris was actually allowed to escape so they can test to see if he's catchable or not? I'm not sure what their backup plan is in case he did get caught, but it's food for thought.

Rambo!   If I was going to do that, I'd send him up against mercenaries rather than Tevinter soldiers.

Oh dear. It's going be Valen all over again, isn't it...and this time, no true names to make him stay on your side. :( Sad fan-girl is sad. I now believe I will have to kill Fenris down the line if I keep my mage anti-Chantry.
