So, I probably asked this earlier, but I had to leave the computer soon after to get thrown into the air while my friend laughed viciously at my fail.

What have I missed? :P

Well, BioWare isn't exactly known for its unicorns and butterflies endings. But other than having commitment issues or dying, at this point I can't really see Fenris leaving for any reason.

Unless he pulls that, "This is the skin of a killer, we can't be together" then I will console myself by throwing my PS3 out the window.

Oh dear. It's going be Valen all over again, isn't it...and this time, no true names to make him stay on your side. :(

Actually, if you and Valen were in love he'd stay by your side regardless.  You didn't have to "command" him to stay with his truename (and by the way, if you do that, he gets angry and says he lost all respect for you).

I never got Witch Hunt. I always told myself Morrigan died in childbirth to make myself feel better about making Alistair sleep with her. x3 But I was thinking along those lines too, Luey.

Wow, that's harsh after she saves your life.

As far as how the Fenris romance ends- it's bound to be complicated, one way or another.  I like it that way myself.  I don't care for Hollywood endings, and Gaider is pretty good at making things resolve well.  Not necessarily all smiles, but without being cheap.

I, ah, meant more along the lines of 'Ooh, I know your the bad guy, but you're offering me something that's I'm not sure you actually do! I'm totally betraying my friends to join you!'

Yeah, I got real pissed off when he did that to me male druid. :P

Hawke: Why would you do that, Fenris? How could you...betray us, after all we've been through together?
Fenris: I don't like being tied down. Not to the Free Marches, not to Kirkwall, not to this party...and not to you.
Hawke: I...can understand that. But why this, why now? You said you loved me.
Fenris: I...I do love you, Hawke. But this is what I have to do. I like freedom far too much to give it up for anything. Even you.
Hawke: You know what's going to happen, Fenris. I won't kill you...but I can't say the same for the others. I'm giving you this chance. Run, and live.
Fenris: ...you win, Hawke. But don't come looking for me when you're done here. I'll be long gone. -turns to walk away-
Main Boss: Fenris, if you leave now, you'll die. I will come after you.
Fenris: Hah. Trust me, if you stay, you're going to die. -laughs and leaves-

-after the battle-

Carver: Sister...sister, are you...how are you holding up?
Hawke: Don't beat around the bush, Car.
Carver: Fine. How are you deaing with that bastard's betrayal?
Hawke: Don't call him that.
Carver: He used you, betrayed us, nearly got us killed, and you're still defending him?!
Hawke: He never used me. He loved me.
Carver: You believe that crock?!
Hawke: He wasn't lying. I could see it...in his eyes. He loves me, and betrayal or no, I still love him. I only...I only wish he had realized...
Carver: Realized what?
Hawke: I wish he had realized...that he was always free. -begins to quietly cry-
Isabela: Hawke...are you...crying?
Hawke: -giggles softly- I'm mourning my pride, Izzie. I made quite the fool out of myself, what with all that talk of running away with him...marrying him. -smiles despite the tears running down her cheeks, then wipes her eyes with the back of her hand and walks away-

I'm such a damn angst muffin. :'(

:crying:

I go to bed, all happy because Fenris is awesome and then I wake up to speculation that he might betray us like Bishop did.

I will say, however, that this game spans ten years and so I would love a semi break up at some point. Just for the angst.

It's just speculation at this point, and Bishop's betrayal wasn't exactly a huge shocker when you consider the kind of person he was from the start.  People can wax poetic about what they like about him, but he put himself first and made no bones about that.

I wasn't surprised when Bishop betrayed me. Still hurt like a sledgehammer to the face, though.

Here's to hoping Fenris doesn't do the same. I'm already expecting it from Carver... If Fenris does the same then my Hawke's going to have some serious issues afterwards.

I hope Fenris doesn't betray me, either, and I certainly would hope he doesn't have a personality like Bishop.

So what kind of a vibe do you all get from Fenris' ministory? I'm sure this has already been discussed, but this thread grows like a tapeworm and I can't spend all night wandering through hundreds of pages.

...I hope he's not like Bishop either...but I still hope he's just a little bit of an egotistical **** at first. Because I will love crushing said ego if that's the case. >:D

if he does betray is in a Bishop-esque 'I love you so I'm siding with the enemy' way, then I will first blink at the screen in shock, then scream and tear my hair out...then cry and wallow in the delicious angst.

I don't get the betrayal vibe from Fenris.

@ Riona45

Hope he doesn't have Bishops personality either, I found it terrible.

I won't blame Fenris if he betrays me or runs away.

After all, that's what a sky pirate does. They fly.

Balthier was awesome though. He didn't stab the rest of the group in the back. He was...the leading man.

Ah Balthier. <3

He really, really was. <3

Here's hoping that if Fenris decides to blow everything to kingdom come, he'll whisper, "I suppose you'd better hang on," and carry me from the wreckage.

I don't know, wasn't Bishop really just an unfinished romance? For the most part, Bioware has given you a way to stay with your love interest, you just have to figure it out. Alistair would stay with you if you didn't make him king. You can even convince love interests to change their minds and morals.

I guess maybe it happened with Morrigan but in the Witch Hunt, you could go into the mirror with her, right? And didn't Obsidian do NWN2? KotOR2 kind of screwed over female fans with the unfinished Atton romance, so they are kind of annoying.

No offense to Obsidian, I love their games, but they are not known for writing good romances. Then again, I heard that their lead writer hates writing them or something.

I don't mean to necro an old topic that people have moved on from, but sometimes this thread moves too fast!

A few pages back, some of you were discussing what the original purpose of Fenris' experiment conducted on him was for. I'm really interested to know that as well. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't DG say at one point that Fenris' lyrium brands weren't part of his original concept and were added later? I wonder if the phase punching was also added to that. It just makes me much more curious about his past!!

The experiment, ha! Well, I did ask about that too on the thread but my post got lost in the avalanche. I wondered what the magister wanted to do with Fenris, use him like HK-47 to assassinate people, use him against the Qunari or as a bodyguard.

Personally, I get the sense that Fenris is a bit of a bad boy with a strong confrontational streak who always, always has to be right. So unless Hawke is a bit of an aggressive badgirl herself, you can kiss a Friendship Romance goodbye. If you prefer to play a more diplomatic, thoughtful, understanding, gentle Hawke, you are probably in for a Rivalry Romance.

And if you are a Good Hawke who is constantly reaching out trying to be understanding with Fenris?

I really don't get the impression he'd ever say - "You are just... Too good for me. I don't... I simply don't..."

And more - "Your non confrontational behavior is going to be the ruin of us all and I find it absolutely naive and narrowminded. Why I'm even fond of you, I don't even know." (end being totally jerky and Heathcliffe / Darcy like, who were equally big headed jerky jerks)

I don't see him conceding to much of anything, but pride and arrogance will be his namestays.
