Just about everything he does in that short is him stroking his ego, or looking for opportunities to or inciting reactions to also stroke his ego. Or rationalizing the excessive stroking of his ego.

He is so very, very free, after so awesomely freeing himself, and he wants you to noooticeeeee.

Yes! I love the way you describe him, Pseudo.

Now
that we know Fenris is a LI, and he is one of the chars i am most
interested of, i wonder how exactly does the "rival" romance work. Is
it like a love-hate relationship where two people care for each other
but can never admit it , or somekind of unwanted attraction which grows
stronger until a breaking point? Can you *have* a romance with him if
your rivalry level is too high?

Tv tropes put the rival romance under "belligerent sexual tension / slap slap kiss" [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/grin.png[/smilie] It
might go to love/hate if your rivalry is very high, I don't know. No
party member will leave because of the friendly/rivalry bit, so I don't
think a romance would end either if your rival level is too high.

Yeah,
I think I read DG saying that the friendship and rivalry romances are like
taking two different paths that end up in the same place, basically.

Only thing I'm curious about now is whether being aggressive and in-his-face is going to lead to friendship or rivalry. Someone made a good point earlier suggesting that Fenris would like it if Hawke gets aggressive, so that would = friendship points? I'd been assuming up to this point that the friendship path would mean Hawke being understanding and patient and "I'm here for you, let's work this out agreeably", and the rivalry path would be arguments, tension and conflict.
Maybe it's the other way around? =]

Hey guys, any new info regarding who's the m/m LI?

It's just that Anders' romance info on the dragon age wikia is manipulated into saying he's the romance option for (at least) a female Hawke.

I would like more info on the rivalry/friendship system too x_X But as i said before, it's best to act however you feel like it on the spot. I personally think the companions rivalry/friendship might depend on your actions, and however you deal with their personal quests. For example, Anders finds kitty and wants to keep kitty. You may let him have the cat or tell him not to take it. He might become a rival, but understand yer reasons?

It would be hard for me to be aggressive so i hope Fenris can love a snarky/good Hawkie xD

There is a danger in that, though. DG has said that if you don't pursue one path or the other fully, like if some times you feel like being nice and other times you wanna be aggressive, you could end up going nowhere. If you got +20 rival points and then later +20 friendship points, you're back to square one.

I second this so much!

Give me a semi-happy ending, like with Alistair + dark ritual as a minimum, please..:crying:

my first playtrhough had no idea about DR, Alistair died on me :crying: (I took him as I wanted to sacrifice myself but didnt know he wouldnt let me) so i'm hoping if there is a situation similar I wont be so ignorant as to ignore it!

I can see Fenris turning me into a bad Hawke

Im planning on doing a snarky, "chaotic good"-ish female mage who won't take cr*p from anyone (not sure if this is the right expression), and then I'll see how Fen will react to her and work from there..

-Friendship & Rivalry thing

I wonder what the flirt lines do with the F/R-meter, in Origins flirting with a companion added approval (makes sense), so I guess it will do nothing in DA2 because you don't have an approval system anymore. I doubt the 'approval' in DA2 gives friendship/rivalry points for flirt lines, since it doesn't know if you are going for a rivalry or friendship outcome. Now that I think about it, same story about the gifts of course, I don't really get the info on the wikia when it comes to gifts.. o.o'
Would be nice to get some more info about this in the weeks to come.

Did I miss anyting important these last 20 pages? I'm not in the mood to read everything right now. :P

You guys are giving me whiplash on here!

It went from "Fenris is so damaged we can't even touch him. He's so withdrawn only Hawke can get through to him. He's such a tormented soul." to  "He's such a cocky jerk. His ego is extremely huge. I can't wait to take him down a notch."

LOL! :D

I actually prefer my endings to be bittersweet. That way the sweetness is much more satisfying and well earned. I'm probably in the minority though.

I'm kinda grasping at straws here or using old cliches, but what if they are trying to MAKE mages? So they can overthrow the Chantry or something. Since most mages are caught and taken to the Circle, maybe first they need to make mages the Templars CAN'T catch.

What if Fenris was actually allowed to escape so they can test to see if he's catchable or not? I'm not sure what their backup plan is in case he did get caught, but it's food for thought.

Just me, but I don't think experimenting on Fenris has anything to do with getting to the Black City or with making mages...

Mages/Magisters in Tevinter are constantly jockeying with each other for power.  If you have control over a weapon that is more resistant to magical attacks and can phase through people, I'd say that it is more likely Fenris was used to help advance the magister's position in Tevinter society/politics...

For my first playthrough, I'll probably choose answers that sound somewhat like how I would respond in real life. Although, honestly, not all would fit because my initial reaction seeing Fenris would probably get me punched.

[Fenris punches through stupid guy's chest]
Me: Holy sh---I mean, Hi. How are you?
-insertFenremarkhere-
Me: [laughs nervously] So, um, do you control that? The light up thing, I mean. Or does it happen when you're particularly...excited?
[Fenris punches me]
Me: I take that as a no then? (given that he hadn't ripped out anything like stupid guy from before)

Yes it is, but why does it have to mean anything? It's just a cool name, that's all. And it's not a "wolf-demon", it's just a giant wolf.

Oh, I'd say arrogant. It seemed like he was rationalizing his long stay in one place as laziness, when it seemed more to me like he was waiting to be caught up with so he can remind the hunters that he's free and and 'by the way still gifted with spectacular murder powers allow me to demonstrate on your face.'

Playing it close to the chest because he knows, or thinks, he will always come out on top. Or to give himself the opportunity to come out on top. And then rub it in their faces.

But the story says that subconsciously he knows he's stopped because he's tired of running.  I don't read that as arrogance, rather "let them come" as in- a line has to be drawn somewhere and I'd rather be dead than running the rest of my life.

Not saying he's not arrogant, though- he seems pretty confident.  (Posted Image)

You know, I'm really wondeirng what Hawke (or Fenris) is going to say in that situation. What do you say when you see that? Everything that you can say when you see someone for the first time (assuming that is the first time we meet him) makes no sense.

(In my mind) Hawke will probably first turn to Isabela and say (without sound) 'Oh my God Maker!' and that in the 'he is yummy kinda way' and not the 'I'm freaked out about it way'. I need therapy! :'D

@Weak Spot, Gaider said a while ago that there is a reason why he has that name. ;)

Edit: about the mini story, I think the 'undead' hunter is going to play some part in the game. Would love to meet him and kill him (again). >>'

What??  Did we read the same story?  He tried to hide his markings at first, until he realized that he couldn't blend in anyway.  He wasn't trying to call attention to himself.  To me when he is ruminating about the innkeeper, he sounds weary, not cocky.

I could imagine that he didn't grow up a slave, though.  He seems to be a free man who simply won't bow under.  As far as his judgment of the elves, it sounds like he just expected elves who didn't have to deal with the possibility of being enslaved to be more dignified.  Sounds like a bit of naivete to me.  Slavery is the worst thing he can imagine, so as long as one isn't a slave things should be chipper.

That's how I read it, at any rate.

I think the line between confidence and arrogance is often blurred. A person can be confident of their abilities without being arrogant. Thane springs to mind in this case. Though, I will admit, that the two often go hand in hand.

Am I opposed to a rival-mance? Absolutely not. In fact I'm expecting it because I'll be playing a mage… As long as rival-mance doesn't mean we're only doing it for the smex then I'm good.

Thane was spiritual and selfless. If the story says anything, Fenris is very selfish, cocky, and self assured. But we shall see.

Not sure how rival mances will be played out, dinno. But I could see Fenris betraying or walking out on someone who isn't willing to burn down a crate full of kittens if those kittens happen to come between him and ultimately completing his goals. Not needlessly, of course.

Seems to me that would be more of Anders/Vengeance personality rather than Fenris...but if it is (I tend to think at least one of them wouldn't because the writers wouldn't want to write essentially the same character twice for the game), it would make it interesting that there were no "normal" romances in the game...

well..from my experience..the name of the character tends to say a lot about the character. Imagine if John Rambo was re-named as Polly Pocket.
