Selfish? For what, taking bread to survive? Wanting to defend himself? How on earth is he selfish anywhere?
Just about everything he does in that short is him stroking his ego, or looking for opportunities to or inciting reactions to also stroke his ego. Or rationalizing the excessive stroking of his ego.
He is so very, very free, after so awesomely freeing himself, and he wants you to noooticeeeee.

I can
see why some people would outright dislike these personality flaws, but
I'm very excited. I've been waiting for a jerk LI forEVER. Badboy
Garrus was as close as I could reach. I'm positively thrilled at the
opportunity that I can have a partner in crime for being simply
baaaaaaaad. Confrontation! [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/devil.png[/smilie][smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/devil.png[/smilie][smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/devil.png[/smilie]

Now
that we know Fenris is a LI, and he is one of the chars i am most
interested of, i wonder how exactly does the "rival" romance work. Is
it like a love-hate relationship where two people care for each other
but can never admit it , or somekind of unwanted attraction which grows
stronger until a breaking point? Can you *have* a romance with him if
your rivalry level is too high?
Tv tropes put the rival romance under "belligerent sexual tension / slap slap kiss" [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/grin.png[/smilie] It
might go to love/hate if your rivalry is very high, I don't know. No
party member will leave because of the friendly/rivalry bit, so I don't
think a romance would end either if your rival level is too high.
I think I read DG saying that the friendship and rivalry romances are like
taking two different paths that end up in the same place, basically.
Only thing I'm curious about now is whether being aggressive and in-his-face is going to lead to friendship or rivalry. Someone made a good point earlier suggesting that Fenris would like it if Hawke gets aggressive, so that would = friendship points? I'd been assuming up to this point that the friendship path would mean Hawke being understanding and patient and "I'm here for you, let's work this out agreeably", and the rivalry path would be arguments, tension and conflict.
Maybe it's the other way around?
