Of course Fenris might take issue with this:
(The party has returned to camp after fighing off raiders, Hawke is attending to some of the party's wounds)
Hawke: Fenris, if you don't hold still I can't heal that gash on your arm.
Fenris: How do I know that you'll heal me, the last time someone "healed" me it felt like my brain was trying to melt through my ears.
Hawke: Do you remember who it was?
Fenris: Some 'shem from the Chantry who claimed that I was "a poor wretch in need of help" please, I've lived on the run for years without anyone I'll be fine.
Hawke: Well, being filled to bursting with lyrium doesn't help much, the process used for healing is similar to the one they use when they Tranquilize failed apprentices, with so much lyrium in you it doesn't take much to overdo the healing spell and accidently strip someone's personallity.
(Fenris yanks his arm away and steps back from Hawke)
Hawke: Relax, I'm no apprentice, I've been patching up Carver over there for since he could walk. And my mother trained me in magic, not the Circle I wouldn't even be able to wipe your person if I tried. I've never harmed a defenseless person with magic and I don't intend to start now.
Fenris: Sure, that's what the all say.
Hawke: Alright then Fenris go ahead, when that gash starts to get infected and ooze then it won't be a problem, we'll get 'ol Doc Tethas over there to cut the whole arm off.
(as if almost on cue Varric presses a button on his crossbow's stalk, causing a wicked-looking bayonet to extend from the front of the weapon)
Fenris: On second thought, maybe having my arm healed with magic isn't so bad.

Gordon Hawke, who hopefully will be a mage is a guy who genuinely cares about his family. After spending his childhood hearing stories about how his family has used their magical talents to assist their fellow countrymen in times of need. However, after having his sister hunted as a apostate and being forced to flee to Kirkwall, Gordon seeks to restore his family honor and the honor of his fellow mages though his quest.

Can we have some nice information about Fen? Please? Pretty please? Pretty please with chocolate sundaes and lots of cherries on top?
*Puppy eyes*
Fenris has nothing to do with Fen'Harel other than the root of the Tevinter word "Fenris" sharing a root with the elven word "Fen'Harel". The Tevinter language absorbed a number of elven words, one among them being "fen" -- for "wolf".
No, this still does not make Fenris a werewolf.

I felt something. As though a thousand fangirls cried out.
And then were silenced.

Okkkay, no werewolf and Fen'Harel theory. That left with the Amgarrak theory.

Thank you, ser.
So he isn't a werewolf or Fen'Harel/part of Fen'Harel [and also less likely now to be a god/demigod/immortal]. 0: I was hoping so.

With that said however, thank you Mr. Gaider for giving us some tidbit of information. If I could, I'd bake you some pie and send it to your offices at Bioware. But knowing my luck, it would be eaten long before it reached you.
His uncharacteristically straightforward post helps eliminate at least one theory we have floating around here.
And I would've eaten that pie.

David can create the dangerously alluring type without falling back on monster movie conventions.
I just think it's interesting that some people evidently think Fenris isn't special enough that he also needs to be a werewolf or a demigod or... something. Not that the werewolf thing wouldn't have been cool. If he were a romance I could do the whole Jacob thing.
"I can't be with you. I don't want to hurt you." *sad eyes as he turns away*
That would be fun to write, purely from a sadistic point of view. I find Twilight both fascinating and horrifying.
