I hope we get to see both "The Fenris stare" and "The Fenris Eyebrow *" in-game, my Hawke wouldn't mind it.

I think it was somewhere on the forums, but I don't remember exactly where. And my brother deleted the computer's history. Sorry.
Actually, just forget I said anything about it. I'll just...be going, now.

(An ogre lashes out with its big meaty fist and sends Fenris flying backwards)
Hawke: (running to Fenris' side) Fenris! Fenris, are you alright?
Fenris: (spitting something out of his mouth) I swallowed a bug.

As a general rule, the way friendship and rivalry works, is that friendship
means agreeing with and supporting the follower in what *they* want to do, no
matter how crazy, illogical or dangerous to self and others. Rivalry means
opposing their big cause, often for the right reasons. So it's very possible to
be a better friend to someone by choosing the rivalry path, since you're trying
to stop them from giving in to their own self-destructive whims. It's not
always the most intuitive, but definitely don't think of friendship as doing
the "right" thing and rivalry as doing the "bad" thing.
It's just as likely to be the other way around.
Things just got more interesting...AND complicated. I likey.

Thanks for the quote and I agree with you, interesting and complicating indeed. I love how you can be a better friend by being a rival to some characters... I think I'm going to like the new friendship/rivalry system a lot.

Noooo D:
I'm not a fan of Jacob. He fluctuates between porn star and douchebag soldier. I don't want him anywhere near Fenris.

I would still love to know if all romances have two paths, or if some are only available on rivalry/friendship
I'm not sure but I think some dev said all the romances had a rivalry and a friendshop path, but (from a preview if I remember correctly) some romance options would only be available on the rivalry path.
An example (imo) how the latter would fit could be with Izzy's romance:
Izzy's a hedonist, and asks Hawke "..not thinking of bringing feelings into this" as in their fling.
If you rival her hedonist way of living you might end up changing the way she sees love and commiting to a deeper relationship with Hawke..
Sadly we all would love to actually know anything but we'll just have to wait untill March unless some dev pops in and tell us anything new. *sigh*

Two
people that have conflicting views may fight over it. This does not
mean they hate each other. It may, however, mean they get into some very
heated arguments. That kind of conflict also does not necessarily
exclude the fact that you may be attracted to someone.
Rivalry does not mean a companion hates or disrespects you-- if that was the case, they wouldn't be traveling with you.
There
is a point at the "end" of the Rivalry path which mimics the end of the
Frienship path: the companion is loyal and whatever conflict lay
between you has been resolved. That's how the path works.
I was wondering if a rival companion would ever really get over Hawke not going along with their plans, and that clears it up for me. I 'm looking forward to seeing this in action.

I've come up with theory concerning the romance picture we have of Fen and Lady!Hawke.
*Fenris and Hawke are kissing, and Hawke notices how careful he's being*
Hawke: Fenris, you don't have to treat me like glass. I'm not some delicate flower.
Fenris: I-I...I'm sorry, Hawke. -he pulls away slightly-
Hawke: There's no need for an apology.
Fenris: No. There is. I...don't now know if I can do this. -notices Hawke's hurt expression- I don't mean it like that! I... -He sighs and turns away- Hawke, there's no one in all of Thedas I trust as much as I trust you. I don't want...if this doesn't work out, I don't want to lose you as a friend.
Hawke: Fenris... -puts a hand on his shoulder and, after a moment of hesitation, pulls him into a hug- You'll never lose me. If you're not comfortable with this, we can always wait.
Fenris: I can't do that to you, Hawke.
Hawke: We can always wait. We'll always have time.
Fenris: -smiles softly- I'm not know for procrastination, my dear.
Hawke: Is that a challenge? -grins slyly-
Fenris: -turns around a presses his lips against Hawke's- Maybe. -grins-

It works wonderfully on my monitor, but *shrug* I don't know about other people's.
Edit: don't mind me, I'm gonna eff around until I figure this nonsense out.
EDIT 2: Yeah, I'm just gonna leave it as is. Click the link for the full picture, his ear gets cut off in the image as it appears in the post.

Aww that was sweet, I wouldn't mind that in-game
@quickthorn:
I think it's been posted that at the climax of the rival-path there could be two outcomes, you either come to an understanding between each other or the companion will leave.. but I could be wrong. X-P
@Kayemdi:
That's one lovely background... DAT FACE

You know it's funny how often I have to say the opposite of this when I'm playing video games.
"I'm a girl"
"Show me your breasts."
"I can't do that."
"Then you're not a girl."
"<_<"
