I know this has been talked about before, but...

I was wondering if people on this thread are hoping for Fenris' overall personality to be super-stoic or more like what was hinted at in the short story (a sort of cocky attitude?).

I'm hoping for a little of both, personally. ^^;;;

(Or if anyone has any other hopes for his overall personality, I'd like to hear 'em.)

I'm hoping for a more stoicism than we saw in the short story but cocky Fenris is ok too.

Serious-cocky works for me. Super srs bsns is a turn-off. cocky to the point of annoyance is also a turn off. When a man thinks he's God's Gift to women/men/the world/whatever, all it evokes in me is a desire to emasculate.

Edit: That 'c' will not capitalize. So after multiple attempts, I give up. But it's driving me nuts.

This. All of it. But especially the last part.

I picture him being fairly reserved, but also having his sarcastic/arrogant moments. :D

Honestly, Fenris didn't strike me as all that cocky in the short story. It was more like he had a kind of cool confidence a person trying to survive has to have.

I have the impression that he'll be cocky in battle since he seems pretty confident with his abilities. But maybe more stoic / reserved in social interaction.

I didn't find Fenris that "cocky" in the short story, either, just super confident, intense, and sure of himself.

Mmm, all pie is good pie in my book! :D

Haha, like what they did with Sten and cookies/kitties? I wouldn't be against it.
I support the Fenris/Toast pairing. It'd make an interesting love triangle.

I REALLY wish they'd done character trailers this game, sigh. I liked getting a snapshot idea of what the character was like in DA:O. There was still SO much more to learn about them, but what we did know was enough to get a clear picture of who they were.

... Aaaand now I'm hungry. =_=;;;
I also hope he doesn't lean too much in either direction. I'm crossing my fingers for some stoic-snark, though. Image IPB

@LittleLuey I agree that the word "cocky" wouldn't be the best way to describe him in that short story.I couldn't find the right word to use there, which is why I put a question mark.  I also thought it was a cool confidence, and I rather liked it.

He can be both.  They are not mutually exclusive.

I don't find him too arrogant in the short story...I get a sort of Simon from Firefly vibe, but with added snark and swagger (dem hips!).

Is it wrong that I want him to have an utterly vulnerable side? (It's the damn Trust fic I did...How can you corrupt yourself?)

BTW - YEAH TOAST! Thanks, now I'm crazy...er.

Any ****iness is probably a reaction to being oppressed and enslaved. Finally being able to free oneself from that, by oneself, and having the crazy abilities with which to eliminate anyone who would try and take away that freedom... it probably feels good. The way I interpreted the story he was making excuses for waiting for new opponents to show up so he could fell them and continue to be free. If that makes any sense. An emotional 180, from having no power to having ridiculous amounts of it, and perhaps wanting to demonstrate it or prove it to himself and others or whatever.

Or maybe I'm seeing rationalization where there isn't any and he is actually sick of the chase. Then again he makes it clear that he is rejecting any of the options he has to blend in. So he's sabotaging himself. But why would he do that? Either to invite enemies and fell them thereby validating his hard-earned freedom further still or just because he likes combat. He seems to forget all about being tired of the game once he's got someone to kill so I'm guessing it's one or both. And to continue to behave like that, he's gotta be damn sure of himself.

Like I said earlier, the ****iness or reckless belligerence is in the one snapshot from what we can infer is around when we meet him. There is a decade for him and errybody else to change, and they inevitably will. Pseudo Hawke is certainly not putting up with that crap.

Edit: lolcensors.

Doesn't sound wrong to me. :) Who knows, maybe he will. In order to really have a romance with someone, there has to be some level of vulnerability. Although, I don't think he's going to be as mushy as us hopeless romantics would like. :P
