My interpretation of the situation: He ran because he second-guessed himself and/or was actually afraid, but not consciously. Don't expect me to prove it, 'cause I don't have any evidence. The entire smirk at random lady's cleavage might've been just a blip of surprise. And something to give me more belief that I'm entirely stable for sleeping with a metal softball bat next to my bed, because if any guy, no matter how attractive, crashed through my window and stared at my boobs, I'd totally take a swing at him. Even though it'd probably not be effective against this said character.

And I just had another idea about the cleavage thing: He was being a typicalmanmale for a few seconds. Chick walks by wearing something way too low cut and most of them go: O_O *Eyes follow breasts*. Probably completely wrong though.

I think
it was a bit more than this, because he definitely seemed amused by her distress. I'm going to keep rolling with my "thinks of all people as one dimensional bit players in the story of his own life" theory to explain it. To someone who doesn't think of that woman as a person (like us) the whole encounter is delightfully slapstick.

Sorry its just Pseudocognition seemed to be very negative towards him and there are other people outside the thread who seem to already have labled him as a douchebag :/
I love that he is a douche. It's a nice change from the Origins cast. I want to understand how and why he is that way. He's very interesting. Character reactions to extraordinary circumstances are my favorite part of fantasy.RosaAquafire wrote...
Just like there are people
in this thread who have him labeled as a gentle sweet lover?
Hehe. I giggled.

The wiki mentions that some romance options will only become available with a rival.
The source is The Escapist so who knows.

I did miss it because I'm the queen of tunnel vision. Thanks
I really hope every romance has both paths.
I'm still a bit peeved at the thought that the only way to seduce a character is to think differently from them.<_<

The only dev quote I can recall concerning that said "some options" were only available on a rivalry path. Meaning some types of interaction with the romance character would not be available on the friendship path, which makes sense.
Edit: Nevermind. I've been'd.

I like this interpretation a lot, I think it could be where this idea came from, including the Escapist source. If what they meant is "you can only get married to the character on a rivalry romance" "you can only meet their mother on the friendship," that sounds awesome to me and would fit with that's been said.
I believe there was a comic strip a few pages back that showed this.Ineffable Igor wrote...

Well put. That theory certainly emphasizes ego and *cough* self-gratification. Garghgasldkfj game, get into my hands, I want to pick apart these characters. And then use them to hit stuff in extremely satisfying ways with slick animation and shiny and alskdjfa;lsdkjf.

I think that whole scene with the woman in the short story was to give us an insight into Fenris' personality.
We he's introduced he's got a pessimistic view on his life so far, the hunters have found him again because he stayed in one place to long and the world outside of the Imperium isn't as welcoming as he had originally thought.
But when we get to Fenris bringing the smackdown to his tormentors we see another side of him. Fenris to me at least likes being the violent, larger-than-life character this living weapon that can tear through an army of mooks like tissue paper. The swagger, bravado, and making the bread lady scream is all for show, it creates an image of Fenris the Unstoppable when actually deep down inside all the guy wants is some peace and quiet.

I'm with the Doc here. I get a sense of helplessnes from Fenris at the start - He's escaped but he doesn't know where to go from here and he's a little lost. I could just be projecting my own wants onto the character though.

As a slightly odd question: Has bioware done, as of yet, a bipolar character? I doubt Fenris is, but...
