You're not the only one. Lots of people around the forum seem to have overlooked the little smile, from what I've seen. Most have said they think he looks sad or something.

The only reason I'm in this thread is because almost everytime I write a Merril story I get writers block over doing her justice, while Fenris just comes easy to me.

That and it was this thread where I found out how absolutly ****ing hysterical gamergirl fan art really is.

Regardless of his understanding of the issues he still looks down on them, and even if he did understand, that probably wouldn't change his opinion of hiding among them. He chooses to live 'free' regardless of the consequences. Being sympathetic towards them wouldn't make kow towing to the human majority any more appealing.
