Honestly Jack was one of those characters where I just sat there thinking "WTF is she on my ship? Has Shepard lost his mind?"

Look at it from a military perspective, she's the last one I'd wanna mess with.

And the last to listen to your commands. That's not good. As the enginner on Horizon said "They gave us a giant gun that couldn't shot straight." only difference is Jack is liable to blow up in your hands.

Leliana was the only one of the romance options who struck me as having a mature adult attitude toward the whole business.  Zevran was much deeper than he initially seemed, sure--but that just begs the question of why he was pretending to be shallow in the first place.  And Morrigan was too wrapped up in her personal beliefs to really connect with you (or anyone).

He doesn't like to get close to people. He said as much when he explained that he had to kill the one person he loved for the Crows, who ended up being innocent.

Well, I think Twilight is far more effective with its romantic elements than most people give it credit for. Granted, it has little else going for it-- but the romance it does well. I find it a fascinating exercise to analyze exactly why that is (which I do for many romances... thankfully Cori is a giant romance movie buff).

That's interesting. Why do you think that is?

Just, you know, don't write any of the F/F romances.

I think I could swing it, if I needed to. You like another chick because she's more like a man, right? She can fix your car and stuff? I get it, I get it.

You've seen to the heart of it. If a woman fails to work my undercarriage to a pristine shine, she doesn't get a second date.

Depending on the choices you make in Witchhunt, it's really not that bad in retrospect.

Yes, but came out an entire year after Origins, which like seven in love-struck gamer years.

Your assessment of Leliana and Morrigan I agree with completely. I had absolutely no patience for Morrigan's conceitedness. Never talked to Zev.

That was his rationale, yes, but it made about as much sense as his rationale for serving the Crows and then abandoning them and then possibly going back if he didn't like you that much.  It's a defense mechanism of the value-deprived, to attempt to convince themselves that they don't really care about anything enough to be hurt by it.  It doesn't work, so to me it was childish and off-putting.

Even if it's never explored as much as I would have liked in the game, I agree with this statement one hundred percent.

That might explain why I never found him interesting enough to Romance.

I personally would've romanced Shale B) And the she would've squished me under her foot.

I had more patience for Morrigan (perhaps partly because Alistair was such a JERK to her right off the bat) and I never actually did the romance because I can't be bothered to play male characters.  I have some of her traits, myself, so I could sort of empathize with her always having to Be Right, because ultimately that's all she has.  If she admits even for a second that other options have possible legitimacy, then everything that she's done in her life--all the self-denial and whatever nasty things she may have done to other people--becomes unnecessary.  In order to stay square with herself, basically, she has to believe that it all Had To Be Done in order for her to stay alive.

Hence also why she's so very cagy--if she explains what she's doing and why, there's always a chance that someone else might present her with another option and wreck the foundation of her self esteem.  Very problematic.

Hopefully not; that would somewhat diminish possibility of him being a LI.

Given the guy still doesn't have even one officially confirmed girlfriend...

Yea, but you'd have to become a prostitute to tag along ;/

BTW who said males have their Isabella??? Shes ugly like hell. May be an awesome character but her face is unappealing.

I hope the Isabela relationship isn't too similar to Zevran's in Origins. It felt like, just as you were getting to Zev's core and starting to appreciate him a bit that the dialogue options ran out and there was nothing more to talk about. He's very tragic, but so many Bioware characters are, would have loved to see more added to his romance.

What about the kind of romance where one person is in love but the other is not, and the one in love decides to follow the other around despite that one not being intrested?

If you're referring to Twilight, I disagree that Bella was ever "not interested". There is, in my opinion, a grand tradition of stalking in romance-- both in literature as well as in real life-- and it's an understandably fine line. From all I can tell, it's only ever an issue when it doesn't work out.

This.   Kinda bothers me when people call the Twilight stuff 'creepy'

Usually most romances starts with what people would consider 'creepy' but since it was a successful romance it isn't looked at as creepy but charming, flattering, or cute.

It is only creepy when one side doesn't return the feelings, or aa third party is lookin in.

It depends which part of the series they're talking about.  Granted, my only exposure to the series besides the first two movies with Rifftrax is "Mark Reads Twilight" so my overall perception of the series is naturally colored by his views.

@Psychoblonde, I will take that you never take that elf seriously, do you?

As for Morrigan. She's okay in my book. Though I must say as soon as I got the Witch Achievement I switch back to Zev. This is the problem with both ME and Dragon Age, you can't be best buddy with the opposite gender.:D

In what way exotic?

I find her plain. Even the piercing seems out of place. Had she a morisian tattoo on her face, a visible scar, hair done in unusual way with braids or something, waredrobe in screaming colours...All shes got is a bandana which gives her the look of a laundress...

You have an interesting definition of exotic.

I see her as exotic because she comes from faraway Rivain and she has developed an unusual fighting style in her travels by studying the way others fight and she's a female pirate captain. All of those things are a bit "out of the norm" and make her seem rather interesting and worldly.

Oh dear. Someone thinks a female love interest is ugly. I've never heard this before. Not with Morrigan, Leliana, Ashley, Liana, or Miranda.

Sorry, but the only time BioWare has made a female love interest that didn't get ragged on for not meeting someone's personal standards of beauty is Tali, and that only because we can't see her ****ing face.

Oh well, maybe you'll get lucky and Aveline will be the other female LI.

I don...didn't :) know where she was from. I tend to skip the story spoilers, minor and huge, before playing (but I'm not paranoic about them). All I judge right now is by apperances.
As for being worldly and a pirate...I guess in fantasy it has to be something more to be exotic. I mean - her face is not so distinctive from other nations. Its like Columbus arriving on the shores of America and he meets people with...european faces :/
BTW, if she such a exotic pirate captain compare her to Pirates of the Carrabean pirate "council". That is exotic and an great character design. Isabella? I ask again what is so exotic about her? A premise of a mystery?

I am comparing her to other characters in Thedas.. as far as I know we haven't met any other pirate captains yet (unless the Crimson Oars count) so she's still quite unique in that department.

Sooo how do you guys think Fenris will get on with the other companions?

I mean, seriously, Maria, everyone KNOWS that the ONLY MEASURE of how INTERESTING AND WORTHWHILE a woman is is whether or not she has a PRETTY FACE. <_<  /sarcasm

Personally, I think Isabela is quite attractive in a strong manner--I'd say she's quite a handsome woman, and I've always preferred handsome to pretty in ladies.  IMO Bioware does a pretty good job of suiting face to personality for characters.  I like the way Fenris looks, too.  I especially like his hair (even though it kinda looks glowy in some of the screenies) because it lends him some slight softness without looking like he spends all day fussing over it.

I'm hoping he'll be a bit understated personality-wise.  I always like the characters that don't blow you away with a cannon full of personality right out the door.
