I gave some speculation on that earlier, too. Hold on, lemme go pull it~:

I get the feeling he was only being polite because he felt he could use
Hawke again to accomplish his own goals. (At the point when he says
something like, "I have met few in my travels that have sought anything
more than personal gain," he may have felt a little...guilty?)

I always love your interpretations. It usually is the nice ones that hide the biggest secrets~

Fen actually yells "I am not afraid of you Denerious" in the video, it's right at the beginning of the first demon-battle in his house (around 16:05 if I remember correctly).



It's nice to see some emotions slipping through his cold exterior.

I have a feeling the magister ends up not actually being there in that quest. It looks like they jumped in the gameplay a little bit because one moment they are inside the mansion fighting shades and the next they are outside and Fen's leaning against a wall.

I've watched Gamespot video couple of times and two questions are left unanswered for me:

1) He asks us to help him kill magister ( Denarius? ) in his mannor?

2) Since the manor is filled with the demons, is that Arcane Horror the magister or just a mini boss?

I fully expect the magister to either not be there or escaping (the latter will be less likely IMO). It's just seems too "easy" to me if Fen is able to kill/question/whatever Denerious in the recruitment quest.
I still hope the rival-romance will be if we won't go on a vengeance-rampage wth Fen.

Yep, that's my guess.  At first I was thinking- oh cool we get to kill the magister, but so soon in the game?  Then when Mike kept saying "it's a trap, there's lots of shades," I thought, ok got it.  It was probably a setup.  Still, I like it.  The magister is hunting Fenris, but he's also afraid.

You better be, you ***hole.
