(While at camp, Fenris bounds over to the Champion, shirtless and still dripping with water from bathing. While his disposition seems calm, his stance reflects his annoyance.)
Fenris: Give it to me.
Hawke: Pardon?
Fenris: (Narrows his gaze.) You know what I speak of. Give it to me now.
Hawke: (Grins in amusement.) Why, Fenris! I never knew you felt that way; it’s all so sudden—
Fenris: (Sighs heavily.) My armor. Where is it?
Hawke: (Unable to hold her composure for long, she finally breaks out into giggles at her prank, pointing in the direction of her tent.)
(Fenris peeks his head into the tent and, indeed, his armor had been placed into a neat pile. However, upon closer inspection, he notices something is amiss. He turns back around, feet treading heavily on the ground due to his aggravation.)
Fenris: My patience for your games is wearing thin. Where did you hide the rest of it?
Hawke: (Tilts her head in confusion.) What are you talking about? It should all be in there…
(Fenris opens his mouth to speak, when Brutus trots over to his mistress, and he spots something hanging from his opened mouth.)
Fenris: Are those…feathers?
Brutus: (Barks joyously, as if to confirm the elf’s suspicions.)
Hawke: (Realizes the fate of Fenris’ feathered knee-guards, and smiles innocently.) Well, I think we found the answer to all our questions. Though, I suggest the next time we arrive at a market, you invest in something less…digested.
Fenris: I blame you for this.
Hawke: Ah, don’t they all?
-----
Yes. Brutus the naughty, smirking Mabari strikes again.

Oh, and, umm... I just, er, found this lying around somewhere, I don't know where it came from. *coughs; clears throat*
I played warrior once, then again because my dad said it sucked and his shield never appeared when he switched, so I wanted to see if my experience was the same. I also played rogue. But the first playthrough was a mage, and there have been several mage and rogue playthroughs of the demo after that.tankgirly wrote...
Thank you.
So far, I've played the mage three times, rogue once, nada on warrior.
Mage is by far the best in my book. I loved it so much. My first character will definitely be a mage. It's tasty for the main plot, it's tasty for the purposes of both Fenris' AND Anders' respective romances for different reasons, and I found it to be the most fun class to play by far.

I never thought that I looked anything like Fenris, but if you feel like spreading that around, I won't stop you.[smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/joyful.png[/smilie]
Anyways,
thanks for what you said about my story. I'm really humbeled over how
many of the Fenris fans liked it.
not like anybody actually expected pictures, though--people just like to boast
on forums sometimes, and my first instinct is to call the bluff. But as
much as we might tease, you should never feel pressured to actually do
anything about it. I was surprised you even posted your face, in all honesty. We could
be creepy stalkers, after all. Not me, I'm not even living in the same
country as the vast majority of DA fans and I'm barely over five feet tall anyway, so not terribly threatening, but you didn't know that. Although, basically everyone here is too busy drooling over DA2 to take up a stalking hobby, so you'd probably be safe regardless.
But seriously, about the story, you did quite well. I'm very picky about fiction; if it's not a novel I'm sinking my teeth into, then the first few sentences generally have to put me in the mood to read the piece for me to actually read it. In other words, I'm not just being nice here. It was good.

Fenris: (turns around and prepares to draw sword) Prepare yourself! (notices that it isn't a bounty hunter and lets out a sigh) Merrill, do you just fall out of the sky at random times just to torment me?
Merrill: Maybe.
Fenris: I could have taken your head off.
Merrill: But you didn't. So what's the cheese for? Are you taking our fearless leader out on a date?
Fenris: It's just my lunch.
Merrill: Sure it is.
Fenris: Merrill...
Merrill: Oh come on Fen, she's from Ferelden. People from Ferelden love cheese! I bet she'd really like it.
Fenris: Merrill that is a common generalization, it doesn't mean that its true.
Merrill: (walking away) What ever you say lover boy.
Meanwhile in Ferelden:
Alistair: Yes!
Anora: Did the empress agree to the treaty?
Alistair: Even better! We just got a shipment of fresh cheese in!

I know, right? The suspense is killing me here. It would really be nice to discuss the bi LI on the forums right about now, but then again some little part of me keeps hoping that both Fenris and Anders fight so epically over Hawke that they BOTH turn out to be bi because the devs didn't want us to miss such critical levels of awesome.LukaCrosszeria wrote...
Meanwhile i'm amazed the m/m LI
hasn't been announced yet. Gah, I want to know if it's Fenris or Anders
already. That ebil Chris!
*crosses fingers* I know it's not the most mature thing, and I wouldn't want it in real life, but I would kind of love it if there was tension between the two because they're so different in general. Fenris the stoic, deadpan humor elf enslaved by a mage; Anders, goofy humor, irreverent, fights against templars, the textbook example of a mage gone wrong. But then, they both suffered a type of slavery...
My ideal scenario would be that you can either make their differences worse or point out the similarities. *sighs dreamily* The replay value on that would be delicious. Sort of like how you can either push Atton to the Light side he was slowly creeping towards, or twist him back to the old days and eventually get him to murder Mical out of jealousy. It made the playthroughs feel a bit deeper.

Hawke: U mad, Fenris?

Sitting down, she saw the drunken men earn there drunken title. Everywhere Hawke looked there was only revelry and happiness. To her, it was as if they were dancing on someone's grave. "This is a town that doesn't deserve happiness", she thought. These Damned sods even had the nerve to still call the place Lothering, when all the homes and family's of Lothering died years ago. The long walk back to this false town had only been filled by silence and the most selfish confession she ever heard.
Sitting across from her, Fenris was fiddling with his drink and looking at Hawke. "It's as if I'm the only thing he's looked at for the last three days", she thought emotionlessly. Fenris was there when she had saw what was left of her sister, and Fenris had almost always seemed to be there since.
Hawke: Attentiveness doesn't suit you, you know.
Fenris: Leaving you alone right now, would just be idiotic.
Hawke: *glaring* Now idiocy, that's something you could wear just fine.
Fenris didn't even blink when she said it. She matched his stare as long as she could before turning away. At times, she truly did detest the elf. Who else but him could win an arguement without a word?
Fenris: You are not a coward Hawke. Running away from problems isn't you.
Hawke: Thank you elf, but I've gotten all the "comfort" I wanted out of you. What's asked of you had been done once we reached that slope and I have no need of anything further from someone who thinks they know me better than I know myself.
Fenris: It's true you didn't ask me to be here. I came because I...
Hawke: Because you love me? *Hawke was close to exploding* I'm a distressed damsel and I need some shining elven knight to rescue me? Or maybe you think meeting me at dinner might somhow make me love you back. *she scoffed and looked Fenris right in his eyes* As if any woman could love some lyrium broken, knife ear like you.
Hawke searched for the reaction she wanted and promised herself that this time, he would be the first one to turn away.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fenris felt the wound, but pushed it away. "I see you now, Hawke", he thought. Normally, Hawke could easily keep him guessing, but now she was not herself. It's because now she is wounded. Fenris heard her words, but could see their true meaning in her body language.
He had seen her when she had broke, and now she was pushing him away so that she could rebuild her wall to others.
"But not this time," Fenris thought. "She could build that wall all she wants, but only if I'm on the same side of it as her."
Perhaps Fenris shouldn't have confessed his new feelings so soon, but he had always been an honest person. Thankfully, his feelings hadn't faded at all since he held her on that slope. You could call it smothering, you could say that he was making sure she didn't do anything she would regret after such a dark realization, but the truth was far deeper than that. Fenris knew that being there now, was his only chance for her to truly and completly trust him.
Fenris looked at her while she glared. So angry, so raw, so damnably beautiful. How was it that he hadn't seen it before?
Their eyes locked for quite some time. He could see Hawke fuming, and decided that he should take this time to memorize every feature of her face while he had this chance. He heard the drunken sods slowly but surely quiet down. He heard several men enter the Tavern. The armor clinking implied town guard, but Fenris was far too enraptured in his memory game to check to be sure. The group walked inwards and one of them must have fell from the big "oof" Fenris picked up. Chuckling inwardly, he turned his attention back to Hawke while he heard the man quietly swear in Tevinter..... IN TEVINTER!!
Fenris quickly made his body phase to blue as the first sword went for his head. Hawke jumped from her chair and cast Mind Blast to blow everyone away. The armored men where slammed into the wooden walls, while the drunks sadly went right through them. Fenris decided that he would be upset about that later.
Phasing back to normal he quickly kicked a man square in his temple right before he deflected a thrown dagger by slapping it's blunt edge. Hawke had left his line of sight, but he could smell the ozone in the air that told him of lightning. Good to know she at least has something to do.
Rushing a thick man who was still keeling from Hawke's Mind blast, Fenris wrapped his hands around his neck. Glancing at the mans arms Fenris was slightly impressed. Probably trained 60 hours weekly, Fenris thought as he wrenched the merc's head at an impossible angle.
Looking up he saw two men slowly approach him with weapons drawn, while Hawke was busy picking up a dagger from off the ground. The merc who had flown the farthest rushed her and she seemed to watch him with only an intresting look on her face.
Time slowed as Fenris realized what she planned to do. The man brought his sword around to impale her and Hawke had decided to watch him do so. With a snik the blade went right through her, right under her heart. Fenris didn't hear her cry out, but he did see her bring the dagger around and into the man's head, as he held the impaled sword right above her stomach.
Fenris didn't remember how the fight ended, all he could see was Hawke bleeding to death in his arms. All he could hear was his own screams for her to heal herself.
All he could feel, was the world lose meaning.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hawke stared at the wall while Fenris finsihed wrapping around her change of bandages. In the end, Fenris had practically force fed Health poultices down her failing throat. She had been bedridden due to her injuries, but appearently Fenris chose to ignore the Healer's request not to bother her.
She glanced at Fenris and found that it was he who was glaring now.
Fenris: I was under the impression *he said with what could be venom* that mages normally use magic in fights.
Hawke: I must have forgot.
Fenris: ... And you call me the idiot. *he muttered just loud enough for her to hear*
He finsihed tying her bandages and walked over to sit by the window. She stared as the anger seemed to just leave his body. His eyes seemed to... she could be wrong, but they seemed to glisten.
Fenris: Are you trying to kill yourself?
Hawke: Nothing so morbid. I guess I figured I'd look more like Bethany with a sword sticking out of me.
The comment would have unnerved everyone else, but Fenris almost seemed saddened.
Fenris: That is not funny.
Hawke: And here I was looking for laughs.
After she said it, she found it impossible to look at him. The wall next to her was all she could see. The wall that seperated her room from the bar that had been destroyed, and the world that had allowed her sister's body to be cruelly made into a darkspawn's plaything.
Fenris: I'm not going to let it happen again. I would sooner die.
That was the few words she saw coming, but meant more than she thought they would. They were simple words, but there intent was clear. Fenris wanted to be a shield that protected her from the world. He wanted to be that damn elven knight she taunted him for earlier, but not because she needed him to be there for her. Fenris wanted to be that knight, because the way he felt demanded for her demanded it so.
Hawke felt her defenses crumble. Breathing was becoming harder, and she could hear him walking closer. She could hear him sit on the foot of her bed, and she could hear heart beat faster as he did so. She had to do something, anything.
Hawke: *Trying to control herself* I do not love you, Fenris.
Fenris: Liar.
It was then that she turned away from the wall and looked at him. In an instant, his moss green eyes had captured her. She couldn't look away, Fenris seemed to peer right into her soul.
Fenris: "You are scared that I would ever hurt you, like circumstance did all those years ago on that slope." He leaned his body closer to hers until Hawke almost seemed to be laying down. His eyes held hers the entire time he did so. "That fear strikes you like nothing else, and was struck again when you saw what was left of Bethany." Hawke's body wanted to cry at the mention of her sister, but Fenris's eyes stopped it. His moss green globes seemed to freeze them together in time, away from the cruel world they knew too well. She almost didn't notice that she was completly lying down now, Fenris hovering right above her from the bed, his face almost inches from hers.
"Hawke, you love me with all your heart, but you never dared listen to it." Impossibly he leaned even closer to her, Their faces almost touching, eye's never straying. "I will make you listen to your heart Hawke, if it's the last thing I do." Fenris dipped his head downwards and brushed past her lips. His face nestled her neck and ever so slowly, he brought his head slowly upwards until his mouth was next to her ear.
"I will... that is, once you get better."
The Selfish Basterd.
@ Thread. Inspiration came from a song my friend Austin used to love to listen to. I figured a sequel to a short story everyone seemed to like would go better than a whole new one.
Sorry if it's too long. I'll edit it as I find grammar mistakes, so please don't point them out. Please let me know what you think.
