Oh, God, this is gonna be a hard joke to let go of.
(I hope Fenris is as jerky as Aimo and Pseudo make him out to be. That'll make doing this all the more sweeter.[smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/devil.png[/smilie])
Glad it made you laugh, though, doll.

Even if Fenris turns out not to be jerky or bi even, it was fun to collaborate with Pseudo and Upsettingshorts on the comic because it's not often I get to throw ideas with others in a creative project, trivial as it is. Definitely no regrets getting this out of the door ;)

Glad you like our musings, thanks.

Just a little jump before going to work. First, great last pannel for the comic I loved it!!<3:wub: That was really funny (bad elf Fenris, lol)!
And thank for the big laugh about the "m/m" matter, that will clearly encourage me to write m/m fictions. :D<3
lol for the bunnies^^

Ok, see you  after work, bye! :)

It's been a trend lately, that's all.  And holy crap, so sensitive is everyone.  By all means do whatever and post whatever you like- that was my point, after all.  I was suggesting that the poster need not come on a thread and reprimand people for posting this or that.  Thread nannies are a bore, for one thing, but the gist was that the person is always free to just scroll past and not be a downer for everyone else.

Right.  Think I've had enough of BSN for one day.

People around here sometimes tend to forget your original point and lock on to the fact that you, unlike the current majority, are not excited over a possibly bi Fenris. I have to say that it's kinda sad, and generally makes everyone with a different opinion feel attacked, singled out, or unwelcome. Some debate is warranted (it's a much better read for me than pic spamming rabbits) and some disagreements will be had, but it seems the point became belittling each other with some exceptions.

I don't agree with homophobia and generalizations that people who like m/m are weird fangirls, but the obsessiveness definitely comes across a bit strong to those who have no interest in it. Personally, there is too much hard-core yaoi shipping (often incestuous, and of canonically straight characters) in most of my fandoms, and DA is one of the fandoms those groups of friends and acquaintances leave alone for various reasons. So DA is sort of my break from all that, and then I come here hoping for some good content (the lyrium thing wasn't bad) only to find pages of in-jokes, more pages of m/m, and more than a little snideness directed at people with opposite (if controversial) views. I mean, no one should be attacked for liking m/m at all, but they also should understand that some people are ready for a subject change.

And that's probably the best thing to do: change subject. It's just particularly sad when good questions or topics are ignored or glossed over in favor of the clique going all out, chatroom style.

I'm sorry others took your original comment, which was aimed at another person, as offense.

This.

I guess I'm the only one who would be really happy that Fenris turned out to be straight as an arrow. Somehow if he was bi, it would kill all the tough/mysterious guy innuendo he now has (or rather seems to have with the lack of info on him). And even though he is almost an opposite of Zev, I probably would be comparing the two half the time.

Oh, and thanks for person who posted the link to '30 Seconds To Mars - Bad Romance'. It's like a drug - I just can't stop listening :D

Has anyone done the 10 Songs fanfiction meme for Fenris, or is that only something for the journal comms?

Of course. Bisexual people aren't tough and mysterious. Duh. And Fenris doing anything other than slapping F!Hawke around isn't tough so if he cries or confides in her he's a p****. And totally not mysterious.

Other people have agreed or disagreed with this, and they have every right to. The element of mystery was debated (now buried under 15 pages or so) and I think keekee53 is just late to the party putting in her/his opinion.

That brings to mind the Alistair dance mod video (here: www.youtube.com/watch ) and makes me wonder how soon someone might make similar mod vids for Fenris.

I would ask from whose perspective this would be, the player's, or the PC's?  After all, the PC wouldn't know the character's sexuality unless it was obviously stated (Isabela.)  That being the case, from the PC's perspective, the 'toughness'/'mysteriousness' of the character should not be crippled upon the initial encounter.  It should remain intact unless the character immediately reacts cowardly (proving they're not 'tough') or immediately reveals their sexuality (which the PC sees as un-masculine.)

Unless, of course, the PC you role's perception of the character is instantly shattered upon said character 'outting' themself?  Which still strikes me as a little strange.  If the character succeeds in proving time and time again that they are strong, why would the PC do a complete 180 upon learning that they swing both ways?  Unless the PC just finds people who fancy both genders... effeminate.  Which I suppose is fair, if it's a character trait of your PC.

Or maybe that's just me.  I like to play games from the character's perspective, not my own.

Well, usually on the first playthrough, i tend to play from my own perspective. Then i'll playthrough again using the characters perspective.

I like seeing how the decisions i would make would affect the outcome.

For instance, if i saw Fenris walking past me, looking all hot like that.......well, I'd HAVE to look. and if there was a flirt option in dialogue, I'd probably jump on it. -lol

Ah, I really have no qualms with Fenris being bisexual or not. I'm more interested in just finding out what the hell happened in his life (and everyone elses, for that matter). The anticipation is killing me, it is. :P

But, I appreciate the time and effort you guys put into your comics/pictures. Gives us forum dwellers something to look forward too, as you have no doubt heard a billion times. ;)

lol, I have a REALLY hard time playing as myself, to be honest.  I know that a lot of people like to play... what was the term being used?  Glorified versions of themselves?  And by that, I just mean, "I'll be playing myself, only as a badass swordsman/mage/etc... and I'll become hero OF THE WORLD!"

I have way too much fun creating characters to play as myself. xD

Possibly both. A lot of people play the first time as their own perspective (perhaps something about immersion vs getting used to the game itself) and then follow as character perspective. I think our impressions of characters definitely impact the way our PCs interact with them at first, whether we think it does or not. My first impression of Zevran (having stayed well away from fandom prior to playing) was that he was kinda meh and Alistair was cool, but over time and gameplay my personal opinion became reversed and it affected how I saw my PC should interact with them in the first playthrough. That said, Zevran's sexuality was not one of the things that had influence over my view of him, because it fit his character and skill set. I never saw him as effeminate so much as a little flamboyant, and given his backstory it made sense to me.

As for it affecting Fenris' mystery factor from either the PC or the gamer's view, it has to do entirely with both the preferences and ideas of said gamer and the way they visualize their PC, which is often so complex that it couldn't be tackled in a single post on a thread.

Gotta agree with that.  I was just curious about the context of the (15 page old?) debate because I'm rarely around for such things.

I can relate more to PC's having that kind of view because, as I mentioned, I prefer to play characters that have nothing to do with myself.  So from my perspective, playing a character with that kind of view/perspective is relatable.  The player finding Fenris' bisexuality as effeminate is more... confusing to me?  Partly because we do know so little about the character's history.

Any word on why Fenris being bi was seen as... less masculine?  You said it was already covered, but I... don't like digging through pages. >> Lazy, I know.

Though to be honest (and non-antagonistic for one) the mysterious Fenris to me wouldn't be one who would show Hawke his vulnerability. At all. He wouldn't cry in front of her, he wouldn't let himself be seen as anything other than a pillar of strength. He would rigidly control himself and be something Hawke can rely on at all times despite not being able to rely on her. He would be cold, impersonal. He would tell Hawke to continue on but never carry her, he would guard Hawke's back but never throw himself infront of her to shield her from a blow. He would be cruel to her to strengthen her.

And if he loved her he wouldn't tell her until after the Magister had been dealt with. (And frankly the ultimate mysterious Fenris wouldn't fall in love with Hawke to begin with). He would be like an aloof big brother type mentoring Hawke. The problems he has would be dealt privately and with very little outbursts. And the outburst he does have would never be around Hawke because he is her pillar and he cannot falter .

That's the ultimate mysterious tough guy.

And that to me is not romance material. YMMV of course.
