Yes, at least that was my impression. He asked in a very casual manner, but you could tell he was interested in what was inside. Maybe he's looking for clues to his lost memories or for a bargaining chip? On this note, I'm off to bed. Goodnight everyone! <3

That was my question as well. I was wondering what it was he was hoping to find in the chest, and the first thing that came to mind was maybe a clue to his past.

I'm thinking the same thing, since that is how most of the significant gifts for party members in Origins and Awakening were....and Ser Laidlaw said that the gifts in DA2 would prompt conversations so it seems like a good hypothesis to me..

Hmm, could he have been looking for a phylactery of some sort? I have a sneaking suspicion the Magister's experiment may have involved blood magic, along with lyrium infusion....nothing to prove this of course.

Just lurking around...
I don't want to go to sleep because I'm afraid I'm going to miss the 1000 page mark. For some reason, that would  make me uber sad.
But I'm going to risk it anyway.

That's also possible. From what we know of the magister he is obviously a control freak and would want to have a way of keeping track of his "property" and that would be a method of doing so. There is a plethora of possibilities I guess. But it would make sense as to how the mercenaries are always able to track him down eventually...

I think you're on to something here.... I like the idea of his gift helping to unlock the past. This seems very likely.

Yeah, it does make sense... but he isn't the best at 'keeping to the shadows'

Fenris's theme is so soft and lulling! Of course we're only getting a sample here. I think the soundtrack comes with some preorders right?
