I just finished another game today and I thought I had my character say all the right things but then as soon as I get Deathshand on my side she goes on about how it isn't right then I have to bind her to my will. But I kept picking all the options about strength and being stronger and all that at least I thought I did.
how do you turn Dawnstar to your side when you go closed fist?

Did you romance her? I believe that in addition to encouraging her to the CF views you have to also romance her - unless you romance Dawn Star, Silk Fox, or Sky, they'll argue against binding Death's Hand.

dgcatanisiri is right on the mark. You have to romance them or it will not take. Somewhere along the way a dialogue screwed things up. You can tell if Dawn Star is veering toward closed fist by picking her to lead the defense of Kang at Dirge instead of Silk Fox. When she is under your control check out her character screen. If the bar is too high up then you may have picked a too nice option earlier in her romance.

I had her in the palm of my hand and was with her in the tent. When I went with Death's Hand she was no longer allied with me and I couldn't get her back. I was so heartbroken I had to tell my wife.

She does that unless you turn her to closed fist first.zx2781 wrote...

Recalling from my last CF playthrough, you'll need to start choosing CF options as early as Two Rivers, else it wouldn't work. I think you can start influencing after the first encounter with the Lotus Assassin.
Also, often the proper dialogue to make Dawn Star is often the middle one (if the choice is between three lines of dialogue), since that's more proper of pushing Dawn Star to be CF.

Ugh she can be so annoying with the holier than thou routine. I'd say binding her and using her blood to enslave the water dragon fulfilled our relationship.
Of course I was playing as Scholar Ling so I couldn't have her anyway.

You too eh?
Then again, I'm only playing as Scholar Ling right now because I've never finished a game with her.

The good Tupac Amaru went ahead and enabled this, to be had. Link here, via this post. Matter of dropping it in the override folder of the game, I think.
Can't tell whether it was a bug in this mod or something bit its own tail when running it with the Jade Empire In Style-mod, but order of appearance of final cutscenes and epilogue-slides was skewed for me when last I played the game with both of those. May have to test this out again on a CF-Femmé Monk/Silk Fox run I wanted to do.
