Casey, Mac and the rest of the team will make the final ruling, but I hope they don't.
Why not? Well, I like the mystery of not knowing. As soon as you see it, it takes away that mystery. Some people assume Tali is a pretty looking, almost human crature. Others assume she is more alien. Once that choice is made for you by the team, then it is set and cannot be changed.
For me, it is like when one of my favorite books gets made into a movie. No matter how good the actors may be, how well they read the lines, how suitable they actually are to play the role, they never quite live up to the mental picture I have created after years of loving the book.
Still, as I said, it isn't up to me, so we'll see what happens in ME3.
Generally I agree when it comes down to books and such like... But this is already a game we see, so I don't see why arbitrary lines should be drawn over what we can and can't see... Plus, you can use the same argument for female turians (and we know why we can't see those: they just didn't get round to it!).
I say show us tali's face. BEFORE it turns into an unnecessary mystery. It's a FACE. It's not the meaning of life. Making her face a grand cosmic mystey is like putting the ****** on the pedestal.

Ok, this thread has gotten completely out of control.
It started off ok, but now it's just a bunch of name calling and trolls.
Can a forum mod lock this please?

Not saying that I'm really too upset about it on a personal level, but it was just awful game design in my opinion. It was completely jarring and for all the wrong reasons.

Do I want to see her face? Surely. It's a worthy risk. All this imagination and expectation is of less importance for me then the possibility to see the looks of another alien race.

Tali is directly linked with Quarians (duh, im the master or deduction). So by not revealing Quarian face Bioware will ruin a big portion of the game, because this is a major mistery of the game, and not revealing it will be equaly disapointing as not revealing anything about the Reapers.
Thus if Bioware will show the face of Quarians (and hopefully how they look without enviro-suite) people will get am idea how Tali will look like, thus it will not be much of problem to show how she looks like anyway. Because if wee know how other Quarian look like, then she can't look much different from them.
Bottom line: if Bioware want to finish the game without disapointing majority of the gamers (such as non-Talimancers, and Talimancers who want to see her face), they have to reveal faces of the Quarians.

Sure, she might not live up to everybody's mental imagie of her, but BioWare shouldn't really care about that. They know how Quarian's look (they said so in a podcast some time ago), and they should just show the Tali -they- have imagined.

The Predator / Yautja face theory is just complete b/s, have you even seen what a Predator skull is supposed to look like? It's nothing near the skulls you can found in ME2 when you save that Quarian.
So, without any weird mandibles, it is a given that the Quarians don't have a weird skull shape and therefore have faces not that different from other humanoid species found in the game. I even would be tempted to say that the Quarians look more human than Turians from the evidence we have ingame.
So where does that leave us? Well I guess that since I can find aliens "beautiful" in the game, and the Quarians have a similar facial structure than them, I could easily find a Quarian beautiful too. After that it's up to Bioware to what degree they should look "exotic" or not, I would rather have them not look "too human" just for the sake of diversification, but the room for extravagance looks rather thin when you take into account the things mentioned above.
I'm pretty sure a good balanced design could satisfy the majority of people wanting to see Tali's face. Human enough that we can find it beautiful, alien enough that that the quarian species remains unique.

And I will be very pleased if the ME3 Tali romance scene will be more like the ones in ME1. I really enjoied ME1 romance scenes, they were...epic. Intense. In ME2 they just talked, looked each other and kissed, and that sucked, Bioware could have shown a ME1-style romance scene still hiding Tali's face...
And sorry for my english.

I have to agree. I'm quite happy with my mental image of how she looks. I think that unless the devs somehow coincedentally make her look the way I imagine, or close to it, I'll feel a little jipped. It won't kill my interest in the character, it'll just be one of those disappointing things that nags at me for weeks after I beat the game.
Gotta give the devs props though regardless of how they handle it. This is a very unique situation they've found themselves in.

this is generally contrary to the "its our game, rawr philosophy" RE: unique outfits, guns, etc.
Bioware generally imposes its will on such things as "this is our idea of Tali, do not want your idea"

HA, wouldn't it just suck if the quarians go back to the home planet and it turns out the Geth left along time ago?!
Even Legion mentions the Geth have taken on more of a "caretaker" role on the planet and don't regard it as a prize or anything. They treat it and regard it as we here in the States regard Arlington National Cemetary which IIRC is the exact reference Legion used to campare their treatment of the Quarian homeworld.

Yeah, one way or another whether it's for war or the peaceful transition to the Quarians, we'll be visiting the Quarian homeworld in ME3 or a DLC.

I will mention it again.
Quarians faces have no chins, there helmets are only half the height of a human face, but still the same width.
they cant make a human type face attractive to those dimensions.
She could be a lizard.. or a kitty. or anything.
1.They are surpose to be hard.
2.All Quarians have a slight almost lisp...... like they have forked tongues.
3.Quarian homeworld was hot and dry.
Which is why I think she is lizard like.
The chin
images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090210002944/masseffect/images/thumb/8/8f/Tali.jpg/220px-Tali.jpg
The distance between my nose and my upper lip is a little less than half the distance from my upper lip to my chin, and I have a cave-man chin. That said, you could easily fit a more subtle chin in Tali's helmet, if you want to assume that her mouth starts right below our line of site into the helmet. Even easier when you can screw with human face proportions a bit.
... Maybe she doesn't have a chin, but it's certainly possible that she does.
Moving on:
The tongue
My friend has a slight lisp, and she doesn't have a forked tongue. In fact, I would wager that all of the entities that
you have spoken with that have had lisps have not had forked tongues.
Maybe she does have a forked tongue! But the argument, "Accent, therefore forked tongue," is not valid. If you want to assume she has a forked tongue, and I want to assume that she has a tongue with a second Tali-head on it like the alien from Aliens, we can both be right (according to Bioware).
Moving on:
Hard skin
The points about quarian hardness, their arid natural environment can give clues, I think. I don't think it implies that they are lizards, though. It does suggest to me that she isn't a space elf.
Moving on:
What we do know, Quarians are mammal analogs
http://masseffect.wi...om/wiki/Quarian
1. The quarians are also stated to be mammal analogs that nurse their young. ( (Jump to about 5:15)).
2. They're stated to have lips.
3. They're stated to have tear ducts.
4. They don't have ears as we would recognize them. So I doubt she's some sort of furry space cat, much to the chagrin of some strange people out there, I'm sure.
We have no information on wether or not they have any hair. You could assume that goes along with the mammal analog thing, but you could also be completely wrong. Plenty of mammals with more or less hair, and then again we're talking about an analagos species that shares no ancestry with us and therefore does not have to share any trait that is distinctly "mamalian," since they aren't mammals.
They might do some distinctly non-mammalian thing... Like molting. Who knows? We certainly don't.
All of the mamal analog thing doesn't prove they look exactly like us either. Rhinoceri are mamals that have lips and nurse their young, and are "harder." Maybe they look like Rhinos. Naked mole rats don't look a damn thing like us, and they're more closely related to us than the Quarians. Maybe they look like naked mole rats. Platypi are mammals. DO you see where this going?
In conclusion...
I don't think we should expect them to look completely human, but we already know they don't look completely alien. What's left to suprise us with, Bioware? Just show us their damn faces already <_<
