Shep can be resolute and determined, not liking it but resigning to his fate, or opt to join the enemy saying, “ I’ll be the blight on the galaxy with you.” Or something. Yes the player would need the time to make the final choice and if that would be self sacrificing or not then shep would say the line for the choice you pick do this and kill yourself in an attempt to destroy reapers get defiant we will never surrender type of line, pick the neutral option where put ship on ramming course and attempt to make it to life pod if player is too slow they die and a defiant line is said, or Screw trying to kill them…if you can’t beat em’ join em! And offer your services.


EDIT: Or he could put the bomb on a deadman's switch and say, " For the honor...."

If the only ending is Shepard died, I'd be so mad I'd seriously consider sending a letter every day, that requires signing for, for a year complaining and paying the cost of postage, and  putting BioWare on my don't buy till I find out th ending list.  I'm 60.    

If it was just one of the endings, I'd tear up and Shepard would say  "It's what I do".
