I've just bought ME1 two weeks ago for the PC, and every so often the game freezes for a good 20-30 seconds, usually in combat. Very occassionally the freeze is permanent however. Also, sometimes when I am talking to someone and I select a dialogue option, Shepard will try to say the line, freeze, and then skip right on to the NPC's response.
When I load up the game there is a patch advertised, but when I follow the link the page is no longer available.
Do these problems sound familiar? Is there a patch? Would the patch even help?
Hoping someone has some answers because though I can just soldier on (ha) through the game, it's really irritating and immersion-breaking and kinda ruining what promises to be an otherwise enjoyable game.
Freezing and crashing

If it does, change the title of thisthread to include the word Resolved, so we know not to look in here to offer advice.
If it doesmt, please post your system specs (including windows and directx versions, desktop or laptop) so we have a place to start from when you need help.

Okay, the patch actually made it worse.
All the problems from before, but now the background noise was so loud I couldn't hear the dialogue (and that's background noise of extras talking, water fountains, etc., not sound effects which I know has a seperate volume slider).
So I re-installed to get rid of the patch. The old set-up was annoying, but at least it was playable (to a degree).
PC destop, Windows XP
Graphics card: Radeon HD 4350, 1GM memory,
AMD Athlon 64 Processor
3500+
1.79 GHz, 2.25 GB of RAM
Hope that all means something to someone. I'm not too technical myself.
Anyone any ideas?
