First off, am no Games Designer, but I have meddled with basic toolsets before and have a little tiny bit of a grasp of how resources work.

Since... I don't know how long, I have often seen people going "Oooh I wish we had proper squad debriefs like we had in ME" some of those times I've pointed out that they are there in ME2 it is just that some people seem to believe that ALL the squad should be there for no other reason than to be there. Or even more stupifying to give their view on a mission.

For Mass Effect THAT worked... your on a vessel as a Spectre/Alliance soldier and the aliens on board are part of your squad, not only that there was only a potential total of 6 squadmates.

Now moving forward to Mass Effect 2, THAT can't work on several grounds.

1: Your going to tell Jack to get out of Engineering just for some 'group therapy' session that you think you should have? Sure, go ahead if you want the ship tearing apart in the process.
2: Let's look at the main missions (Horizon, Collector Ship, Derelict Reaper, Suicide Mission)

Horizon, you have your report with TIM, discuss stuff, confirm that you've put aside the fact that Ash/Kai really don't like Cerberus and thus wouldn't dream of joining you and so it is on with the searching whilst TIM does his thing. Is there any real need for a 'group therapy' session for this mission? not really? even if there was, who really would have anything to say? Mordin, Miranda and Jacob possibly, Garrus, nah other than in private with you possibly about the VS and their snub. Jack.. read point 1. So basically put there is no really reason.

Collector Ship, big tantrum thrown at TIM, let's go to what does happen first of all, Mordin, Jacob and Miranda *looks up at previous post* only this time there really is a reason because you've discovered something new, unlike Horizon where you worked it out when you got there.
Now the only thing that I'd say probably should have been done is to do what TIM said for you to do in regards reminding people what you are doing, course you might have a different opinion but that is for you to discuss. As for group session, well this is where it gets tricky because you have to account for all the variables possible, which makes it too much of a frelling mess to do properly I'll explain this in English at the bottom, but again point 1 stands for sure.

Derelict Reaper, no TIM, just straight to talking to Jacob and Miranda about the IFF with EDI involvement and Legion. Simply no need for anyone else, not even anyone you took with you but again with regards to that, it falls into the variables once again.

Suicide Mission. FINALLY the one that ALL the squad has been hired for, only this time it's a pre-mission briefing and perfectly fine for all to be there to discuss plan of attack

Recruitment, loyalty missions, handled as should have been recruit/loyalty person, possibly Jacob or in case of Jacob loyalty Miranda and TIM for obvious reasons, no need for anyone else involvement other than EDI to advise where they can go (apart from number 1 who decided where she was going)

Variables...
As i said, full squad debriefs worked in ME because of the team and because of the fact there were only 6. If you account for all the variables for the squad in ME2 it would've been a resource hog of the most massive proportions. To account for who was there, who said what due to who was there, etc.. etc.. etc.. it all costs money, extra dialog requires writing, VAs to do the lines and the whole thing testing to make sure it all fits in fine.

Now... where do we go from here to ME3.
Well, obviously people want the squad debriefs back. Only way that going to happen is if the squad gets reduced or the number of main missions drops to a level that can make it affordable and also that the variables aren't so great. We could still end up with debriefs where we have the odd one or two squadmates, it makes perfect sense to especially if any potential variables are low. But full on squad, unless we're running a military ship and the variables can be accounted for, not very likely.

Will we have a big squad meeting before the final battle, well if it goes out as it possibly looks I'd be shocked if it didn't, not only that though, I would also be shocked if we didn't have a super Shep Talk-jutsu speech to our squad/crew and anyone else who can hear us over comms or whatever.

The latter two paragraphs are all just speculation, everything before that is just my opinion on the matter and how I think people don't seem to comprehend how costly such things can be both in time, money and other resources. I could be wrong but from what I've read up on things, I think I am right.

TL;DR Due to variables and other things I can't see how they could add full squad debriefs for all important missions in ME3 and unless something radical happens can't see changing for ME3. Devs feel free to correct me if am wrong :)
