They're liers the lot of them. Next time... next time I'll burn their woody witch for them and laugh all the way out of their stinky underground wormhole they call lair... or dungeon... ruin... whatever... they're gettin' it!

I've done as much as I could(DLC/Companion Quests) without destroying/losing Lothering, hopefully bioware can fix this bad boy up. Going to stand by, I've also noticed that random encounters become almost rare at level 10.

I've also noticed that once you step foot in the Lothering Chantry the cabinet is no longer random and will choose the random item and freeze it as default loot.

I also suspect the dialogue with ser bryent could be the cause of the bug.(hunch)

Hopefully the patch won't require a fresh/new game otherwise I just wasted about 4 hours of my life. lol

All this whining and suffering over some ridiculous litte boots. lol

Patiently waiting.

They are awesome boots though...and better you waste 4 hours than umm..I have no clue how many hours my rogue has into the game so far..But I find myself enjoying a 2h warrior more to be honest..

Dual weapon warrior here as well, the set should I ever acquire it complete is for Leliana.

I had just learned about the reload/armor/vendor exploit(don't fix that bioware ^_^), I'm digging the Red Steel Chainmail even though Silverite is stronger it looks bad on chainmail.

Maybe the next patch will remove them from everyone else..that would be helpful, that way they can quit telling us that they are in the cabinet in Lothering.

I'm going to have to find a different way to deal with that old man other than killing him, I suppose.

I couldn't stand his little game and I have no idea what he wants to trade for the helmet, or the Acorn, so, I just end up taking the acorn and offing the Hermit when he gets upset about it.

While they're at it, we need to get some confirmation on if Far Song bow is bugged like this too - no one has confirmed finding it anywhere :(

Joel171: The hermit will trade for plenty of items you recieve from helping the elves at camp.

According to the guide the hermit will trade for...

Pendant Atras gives you for his quest.

The book Cammen gives you for his quest.

The scarf you can obtain from Danyla the werewolf/elf.(Atras quest)

The boots you can loot from Deygan.

The halla amulet that Varathorn can make with the hallas antlers.

The ironbark bracer varathorn can make with ironbark.

Lanayas songbook.(in the chest near her)

From my experience he'll trade for a silver ring as well.

IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trade with him BEFORE completing the Acorn quest/Magic Barrier. Otherwise the mad hermit will become unresponsive.

with the Hermit...if you play his game he goes on and on about how "They" Sent you..and if you play along he gets more and more paranoid until you answer something wrong...and I seem to always mess up along the way.

Follow his rules and you shall have no problems, you'll bork it all up if you let it tangle your mind, my young apprentice.

I started a new game from scratch and scoured Lothering for these boots, I had my dog dig all around and while he did find some interesting items, no such luck with those boots. I also saved my game before I entered the Chantry for the first time and tried about a dozen or so reloads to check the supply cabinet. I did get some variation of pretty low level trash, so different things were spawning in the cabinet, but the boots never showed up. Eventually I got bored and gave up.

The console cheat to add them to your inventory would be pretty cool until this can be patched. That armor is decent for an Arcane Warrior at mid levels, and it does look pretty neat (which is important).

Anybody figured out the console command yet? Or how about an addin that puts them in a rubbish pile somewhere?

From what I heard, people are having a hard time finding them in the Toolset as well, so perhaps the answer to why we can't find any boots is simpler than we thought.

I just did a couple more quickloads before going into the Lothering Chantry. The cabinet always has, for me, 4 Health Poultices and one random junky thing like an Elfroot or a Minor Health Poultice.

^ That's the problem, I swear I saw them their on my very first playthrough(PC) because I remember thinking "what the heck are boots doing in a cabinet".

Something happens to screw this part of the game up. Notice how everything outside is always the same.
