i have seen references to party member slots...has it been made public how many party members one can actually have?
not looking for specifics on party members beyond what has been released, just the set number of party members we can pick up.

That's the number of party members we can have traveling with us at one time. We can have 8+ party members though.

The total number available? There are 9 permanent companions with a very good chance of another surprise companion.

but slots. can you have all 9 or fewer

You can recruit all 9, yes.. Some party members will be difficult to have at once though, like Morrigan and Wynne.

There are 8 permanent party members + Shale if you get the Stone Prisoner (it comes with all new copies of the game).

There are temporary party members, and we know of 10 of them so far, but they'll leave your party after you finish their quest or that section of the world.

People have speculated that there are secret party members. If you go to the spoiler forum, they can tell you more about it there.

Essentially though it will be yourself plus up to 3 other characters in most adventures (i.e. party size = 4).
