I cant see the problem with this, they have said the 3 dlc's are on disc - i havent seen anything that states the prologue is on the disc, so theyre not trying to trick anyone. Besides cerberus network is the only way you can get a whole heap of content such as Zaeed, Firewalker, various weapons and armor and the ..ahem.. fun place to go to chillax.. ahem - point being you have plenty of reasons to download from the network before you start youre campaign, so whats the big deal over one more item? If you dont have your console connected well, then that sucks for more reasons than just this

Indeed, yes they've talked about the comic, but they also mention about all the content that can be downloaded. I don't think they've ever fully stated that the comic is on the disc. Just that you can go through it at the start of the game.

Yes it sucks for those that don't have an online connection or at least the the ability to connect their PS3 to the same connection their PC is using. Unfortunately there is a lot of companies that use the online functionality as a means to get people content and as pointed out by MC, they have stated about all the content that can be downloaded via the Cerberus Network.

Mass Effect 2 even if you take the 'Default' Shep is still a great game. My Avatar is such a character. The way I see it, it is no different to not being able to change the events that occurred in the background history or psychological profile. The events before Mass effect 2 just happened as those did in such situations.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the comic being a reason some people might have got it, but they've never said it wasn't available via the Cerberus Network.

Quote from the PS3 Content Clarification topic

Jesse Houston wrote...
This interactive comic's initial release will be exclusive to PS3 owners who would be otherwise unable to realize the full effect of choice in the Mass Effect universe and will be included on the Cerberus Network.

From the producer's own writing, it clearly states the comic is on the Cerberus Network, not on the disc.

Your loss. Cerberus Network codes work with any version of the game. Why? Because they bloody link to your Bioware profile not your console. So no it wouldn't give you a bizzare mixture of language, it will give you whatever language your game is since it's a DOWNLOAD. So all you have to do is download it and it will work seamlessly.

You obviously never downloaded something from Xbox Live where the game language was different from the marketplace you have your account in. If that's different on PSN, you could point that out without shouting, could you?

But if there are people like you who get so upset over a download they you can get out of here. The reason that it's a Cerberus Network download is so that people who buy the game NEW will get the comic for free. They don't want to reward people buying the game used with the comic.

I really miss the old Bioware forums where you could state a valid point without being insulted within 5 posts - but as goes the saying "a company has the customers it deserves", from that viewpoint I think EA is doing nicely...

All of us that own ME 2 are used to downloads, and we don't mind because it's a great game. So if you are going to complain about some 5-10 minute download then just leave.

You never got the point, did you? I don't complain about a 5 minute download, I complain about an advertised element of the game that is not included on the disc and in my opinion should be. If you can't discuss a topic in civil manners, maybe you should leave?

EDIT: At least someone raised a good point that it is a problem for people who don't have internet. But that's hard to control. I'd guess the majority of Playstation 3 users have access to the PSN. If someone can't connect to it I do feel bad for them.

And that's another point why the comic should be on the disc, isn't it? :innocent:

With regards the UK/German thing, as has kind of been mentioned here and also by me and DaewaNya (sp?) in another topic, you shouldn't have any issues with getting UK copy and putting it in a PS3 bought in Germany. Simple reason why...

The disc is 'Region 2' which covers all of most of Europe and other areas.

The PSN covers all of Europe (I think, any euros not in it feel free to correct me, but I know it covers Germany for one thing)

As to the online issue, is there no way for you to somehow connect your PS3 to the internet? I'm assuming your using a PC (or Apple or other computer device) to connect, if its a phone or something what am about to say maybe irrellevant so apologies in advance.

If have got an internet connection, then if you have a wireless router, you should be able to get the PS3 to find it and connect to it as PS3 has built in Wi-Fi.

Thanks, than this is a definite difference between PSN and XBox Live (on Live I only get the german add ons when I log in with a german XBL account - Oblivion (UK) was a total mess after the AddOn (german)) - so I hope that explains why I am veeeery sceptical about this stuff.

This may sound strange to some here, but I have no problem hooking up my PS3 to my network - my issue with the comic is more a case of principle. I understand the whole Cerberus thing as a concept to encourage "first" sales (not that I agree with it) - but something that was promised to the PS3 community as a "replacement" for not having ME1 should be on the disc - period.

And yes, maybe I'm more of an old school gamer, but I don't feel particularly "rewarded" by extras that I need to download from the net - if I want to play the game in a couple of years again, who says that everything is still available (I don't have it on disc, and I can't even make a backup of the stuff - well, on the PS3 I actually can, can't I? Hmmm...)

*sigh
If the whole language thing is not a problem on the PSN I maybe give it a try, but it is a bit risky to shell out 50 Euros without knowing first hand...

Thanks for the discussion to all - I found that rather refreshing... :D

As irritated as I am about the ps3 users getting ME3 content (all up to date DLC) FREE... It is WRECKLESS and RUDE to give the comic only via online. I know people who don't have access to the internet, they are sorry out of the luck, they may buy the game new. Not to mention ITS THE FRICKEN ORIGINS. The summary of events of the previous game. Without it they can only have ONE kind of Mass Effect 2 playthrough with no altering changes which can only be made with Mass Effect 1 / Comic. Without it they are losing out on the replayability that PC and 360 users get.

*sighs* As irritated as I am that there are still people with this STUPID notion that the PS3 users are getting ALL ME2 content free.

Go read this topic as it is clear you haven't
PS3 Exclusive Content Clarification

If you read through the latter pages there are a few people (including myself) who explain why such a BASELESS ACCUSATION is false. Also on the first page in the OP, Jesse Houston states how the Comic was on the Cerberus Network. That post is over a month ago and even before Jesse stated it in that topic they had announced the comic was going to be on the Cerberus Network. The Game has gone gold so there really is no point in such posts as the one you have done with regards the DLC and comic.

Yeah it sucks for those who don't have internet connection, but nothing much can be done about that now.

Oh and with regards losing out on replayability. That isn't entirely true, I've got 3 PC ME2 default Sheps, they all have done different things throughout that. Sure the permutations from the 6 choices in the comic are big and obviously allow a more varied story but it isn't an absolute requirement to enjoy the game and have different playthroughs of it. Especially when you consider the choices available in ME2.

The game will also support the Cerberus Network, which is Bioware and parent company EA's way to release free and paid downloadable content to Mass Effect 2. The Genesis Comic, in fact, is a Cerberus Network item, which probably means that it, like other freebies on the service, will only be freebies if you buy the game new. (from Kotaku)

Can someone from Bioware please elaborate on this??? The ME1 replacement comic is not on the disc but only available as download??? Posted Image

If that's the case any plan for buying ME2 on the PS3 just died for me right here, so please clarify this!

PS3 users shouldn't even have anything related to ME1, they are giving u a BONUS of knowing the ME1 story and make your decisions to import save, be happy for it even be on Cerberus Network, I just hope BW don't forget the other platform users and put it too so I dont need to play ME1 again to change my story on my xbox...

I think it's a pain that you have to download it, Bioware are advertising it as a fun and important part of the game but I think that it's just indicative of what companies expect from us, and that includes having an internet connection.

Huh? What's that for an argument? I have a PS3 and therefore I am not allowed to get anything that has to do with ME1? Did you even read what you post???
The last time I looked I don't have to bend over just to give a company money, they want to sell something to a customer, not the other way around...

PS3 users waited over a year to get the game, they have no ME1, so the comic is a (cheap) replacement for not being able to experience ME1 - from my perspective I should even get all important ME1 cutscenes to get into the right mood (they are rendered anyway) with the game.

Just got the ps3 version and I do have the pc version but wanted to enjoy the game on my ps3 as my pc monitor is **** and I want to enjoy the game from a huge tv screen rather than small monitor.I have no online connection on my ps3 as I don't really care about console online features but when I saw that the interactive comic is not on the disc....well I was pretty damn furious about it! doing the decisions of me1 is a key part of enjoying the me2 experience and forcing people to get online for the comic is in my mind a blow below the belt.

The cover of my version says "Contains ME2, interactive background story & 3 bonus missions" (translated). That's plain wrong when the comic must be downloaded.

If you don't see why people are pissed off about this you need to pay attention to detail or stop being a rich douche. Not everyone has internet connection for their ps3. Just like Cythar said, it says there's DLC but it clearly states INCLUDES INTERACTIVE BACKSTORY. How is that included when I have to download it? Free or not. I certainly wouldn't have bought this game brand new last night had I known the back story comic wasn't included without getting online. I would have waited at least a month when I'm getting a connection and then bought the game. This is WITH OUT A DOUBT false advertisement.

Does anybody know if you can download the comic to a flash drive, and just import to your ps3?
