I'd like a bayonet. I never play biotic Sheps, but I imagine a fistfight with one would be quite a horrifying experience.
why?

i actually want melee removed. i never use the B button because its linked to melee. id rather have B be used for another mappable ability. an important aspect of ME3 on the consoles is going to be controller config, and allowing for more hotkeys is the best thing they could do. i even think bioware should remove the Dpad functioning for squad mates and allow it to be used for abilities instead.
1. Play on the PC if you want more hotkeys
2. Melee is one of the best ways to kill a guy, locks them in place, does a lot of damage, conserves ammo, assassin's cloak + melee = rape, ect...
3. Play on the PC if you want more hotkeys

But shotguns don't beat a vanguard charge and then a giant hammer to the face.
I'd be for it!

i dont think i get where your going. i understand the PC has a bunch of mappable hotkeys, which is entirely why im asking if bioware could allow for the consoles to have a few more then the given 3. if your suggesting i go buy a new computer and a new ME2 disc, then i dont think your much help. im also not saying melle is a wastefull manuver, as a matter of fact i think its much too pwerfull as is. it seems to do equal damage to the carnafax, which doesnt make much sense to me. if bioware implements more melee into ME3 then i want my biotics to be euqally more powerfull. if you want a lightsaber that cuts orf bodyparts, then i want biotics that do the exact same thing. id even like the overheating weapons brought back in ME3, just because it opens up another button on my controller instead of reloading. i want the freedom fallout3 gives me with my controller options.

Well, I don't think I would like actual melee weapons. But a quick punch with the barrel (rifle) or pommel (pistol) of your currently equipped weapon could be useful (especially against that darn husks).

If you want a bunch of hotkeys don't play a console game. I don't want my lovely punch of awesome removed.

Hell no. Doesn't belong in the universe. Do you see modern day warfare backpadeling and using melee arms? No, you don't. Mass Effect, based in the future and furturistic weapons. Hand to hand went from sword to sword and guns came along and it has not stopped. Because safety and efficiency. So thats where it stays.

Do you actually think anyone in real life could take a shot from an anti material rifle? The answer is no.Guns are not efficient at all in mass effect.
As a vanguard I melee at least half of the enemies I kill and I think it would be awesome to be able to use a knife or a move to push peoples guns away from me.
