W/ Regards to NPCs dying in attacks... Before this game came out, Both Todd Howard and Pete Hines said that quests will never be broken due to dead NPCs in the quest chain. They specifically said that if, for example, the guy you're supposed to deliver something to were to die from a dragon attack, his son, or wife, or brother  or whatever would step in and take his role. Ditto with Merchants.

What ever happened with that plan?

What I do find totally awesome, however, is that they DID make people aware of their relative's deaths. In my game, Nazeem died from a vapire attack, now when you talk to his wife she calls herself a "still grieving widow"

It's fine by me that you don't care about NPCs getting killed in vampire attacks, but I simply don't see it the same way and we should probably leave it at that.

Obviously.  Continue to be annoyed over something you have zero ability to make Besthesda change then.  Was just trying to give you a different perspective.

A lot of the important NPCs are essential, and the old guard screams about it.  With the radiant quest system there's no way that they can hold to that for minor quests unless they make all NPCs essential.

You know...I really am exhausted with Skyrim.

Its no longer "OOH DRAGON!" or "OOH NEW AREA!"
Its more like "Hey look...ah saw that before"

Dawnguard help add some new stuff, but honestly I just am so burned out right now.
Maybe I should go back and finish New Vegas BEFORE school starts.

I thought BIOWARE had a hard to please fanbase.
Bethesda would be all like: **** PLEASE.

Nothing ever makes anyone happy on their forum.

I have mixed feelings about merchants who get killed. Part of me wonders why they programmed these merchants (especially the ones who live upstairs in their shops and thus don't need to be wandering the streets at night), going outside and lunging head first into battle against a friggin master vampire or dragon. Common sense says that their AI would see them fleeing hostility as fast as they can when it occurs near them)

The other part of me is sees this Dawnguard thing as...  an ok thing, if not actually pretty cool. As others have said, this is done to make the threat feel real, and immenent. It would be silly if the vampires either 1) never threatened a town or worse, walked into town and ignored every single blood-filled vessel (townsfolk) and only went after the Dovakiin.

I once tried to make a joke about Kahjit turning into werelions and was promptly "schooled" on the difference by someone who obviously had their sense of humor shot off in the console wars. Stayed away from that place for years afterward...

If you are on the PC, there is at least one mod that offers like encounters for the area above Winterhold. I do not use it, but it has received many accolades.

It is likely you already have. Unless you want to fight its literal living form, that is.

Which depending on where you stand its a good thing (or bad) most companies don't listen to there forum base. At all.

Its like With Skyrim and Saints Row, they listen t othe sells numbers or opinion polls (general ones you get at times for registering the game or a product survey card in the game etc) Forum goers are a picky, and selfish lot when it comes to the fandom. I never have with Video games mind you, but I have with Starwars. The Fact is money, sales numbers, and those little polls/surveys speak louder and go farther than any number of posts in a forum for the most part.

What I'm saying is a few bad apples on that forum won't change crap, Skyrim is the biggest selling RPG in current history, if not all time. That speaks lounder several million players vs a few MEH I WANT (Oblivion or Morrowind) NOT THIS!!! posters.

Lols, yeah. It's why I lurk here in the off topic forums. And pounce on any whiny or stupid thread and utterly destroy it, turning it into a trolls playground, while laughing at the tears of the original poster...especially if it's Luis.

On a more serious note, there are some very uptight people on game forums, and as fun as it is to wind them up at times, it gets a bit boring when you realise just how obssessed they are, that they won't give up and post long explainations, which I'll never read. I just don't have the time to repeatedly troll them, I've got other things I have to do still.

Just had an encounter with a horse sized Chaurus, and was able to defeat him with mounted combat skill! Epic!

And I believe this was vanilla game content; appeared in an area I oft visit, but took another path instead. But yeah; that DLC hut with the Chaurus covering is rather unsettling. Sent an arrow or bolt into that one for good measure!

I'm still creeped out by the thought of giant chaurus, so I'll be going now.

Also, I'm never eeeever running out of vampire dust on my Redguard thief again. I shall return after progress and screenshots occur!

Aren't Chaurus Reapers horse sized? Also, anyone else shoot the Chaurus husks in Dawnguard?

Always happens in a Bethesda game.
You level so high you can just mock everything.

Except for Super Mutant Overlords in FO3. Ouch.

I am playing F3 right now, and I just fought a Super Mutant Behemoth a couple of days ago. The dang thing kept focusing on Dogmeat, ignoring everything else, so I had to spend most of my time applying Stimpaks to keep him alive.

I'd forgotten all about SM Overlords. Figures, I just downloaded Broken Steel last night. Image IPB (I beat F3 and all the DLC on PS3, but am starting over on XBox).

But back to Skyrim...

Must have been awesome when House Redoran ressurect Ald'skar, the giant emperor crab they lived in, to repell the attack on Ald'Rhun when the Daedra attacked.

Ah I love Skyrim's idea of an assassin.

"DIE DAWNGUARD!" the one vampire says as he comes over the hill.
Moments before his head came off his body.

Stealth is a lost art it seems on these rubes.

Maybe people are just a bit too sensitive to criticism of their beloved game. There are at least as many angry counterarguments as there are actual complaints.

I was trying to be civil earlier, but the replies seem a bit personal.

I was happy to speak to Jiub, after finding all 10 of his blasted journal pages in this playthrough (I skipped it in the first one). He had quite an interesting tale. By then, though, I was pretty tired of the SC, as I'd covered a lot of ground. The whole place, really. Still haven't found the third reaper gem fragment, though.

His amulet was pretty nice, but I wished I had done the Dawnguard portion earlier in the game, so it might have been of more use to my character.

In regard to the Chaurus Hunters and the like - I am happier when Serana brings one of those back to life than when she brings back a rabbit, but they still scare the crap out of me. I don't know if it's the sound, or what.

I just gave up, and consoled past it after a while.

I found all but TWO pages.
Close enough.
