The true Drow in ES games - minus higher social mannerisms and reasoning.

LOL. I always found it amusing that one of the most discussed games on this website next to ME3 and DA2 is a non-Bioware game, and that it's the only one out of those that's consistently discussed in a positive light.

I heard the Bethesda forums are pretty negative as well, but yeah you're completely right. The Mass Effect section is full of people angry about the ending. While Dragon Age threads are about how they ****ed up Dragon Age 2 and how Bioware is going to mess up Dragon Age 3. The other forums outside the off topic are basically dead.

The Bethesda forums...are a camp divided.

The main camps are:
Arena and Daggerfall: Those who think the original MASSIVE game world was the best
Morrowind
Oblivion
Skyrim.

The only other real groups are the people who enjoy the whole series but they are few and far between. If its not one thing its another thing on there:

"THIS FEATURE ROCKS!"
"NO IT SUCKS! X DID IT BETTER!"
"SCREW YOU ALL Y WAS THE BEST!"
"I like both"
"DIE!!!!!!!!! HERETIC!"

Its worse for Fallout.
"HOW DARE YOU NOT MAKE IT ISOMETRIC AND EXACTLY LIKE FALLOUT 1 AND 2! BETRAYED RARGH! I WANT A KICKSTARTER NOW! I WANT ISO BACK NOW!"

The real difference is, no matter the supposed divisiveness on the Bethsoft forums, Bethesda is still wildly support financially by their customers. Skyrim sales....nuff said.

No need for a kickstarter, it's already done with Wasteland 2 will a full isometric view. Leave Fallout alone with a clickable 1st and zoomable 3rd person camera with VATS. It works. And one thing about Bethesda, unlike our forum sponsors here, they don't destroy the things that actually work in their games.

...a bit of advice: if you wanna be able to recruit Ahtar as a follower, make SURE you have NO other "Kill Bandit Leader at X" quests active, and DO NOT start "Lights Out!" until after you've acquired Ahtar's quest. In fact, it's really best to just speak to him immediately after he's done giving Roggvir a haircut to get the quest from him.

Damn quest-breaking bugs - always very bad news for a perfectionist like me.

Also, don't accept any bounty quests in Haafingar until Ahtar's quest in completed. Or visit Broken Oar Grotto at any point before getting the quest. And if you get any radiant quests asking you to retrieve and/or kill something in Broken Oar Grotto, reload and don't take that until you get Ahtar's quest.

Otherwise, you are doomed.

BGS forums have been negative all along, at least in the General section.  Same old story.  Why can't we have our Morrowind back, waaaaah.  The Lore forum is the island of sanity even if it's a bit starched.  These are people who know how to take what they like, make it better and leave the rest.  The dedication that some of these Elder Scrolls lore nuts show is probably something other IPs can only dream of.

How can anyone say Arena is better than Skyrim? lol

It's such an ancient primitive thing. It came on floppy disks and was 25 megs in size. It's like saying "Horse carriages are better cars than Lamborghinis."

LOL. Every fanbase has those grumpy old codgers who think everything was better "back in their day", even though that's obviously not true to anyone not blinded by nostalgia. It just comes with the territory, m'afraid.

Ever been to the No Mutants Allowed board?

"WAAAH FALLOUT 3 IS NOT ISO! WAAAHHHH ITS NOT WHAT I WANTED! WAAH ME ME ME!"
Its filled with sobbing ISO worshiping snots who think they are the real RPG players.

Not so much about New Vegas, since Black Isle vets made it.

Mostly though its worshiping ISO

Is it unmanly to be attracted to strong women? Because I totally have a soft spot for strong women. It's why I take a liking to characters like Serana and let my Dovahkiin marry Aela the Huntress.

Serena a strong woman? Maybe in the broadest definition but her mother was a hell hunk of a female.

Arena and Daggerfall can't really be compared with the later games. They're dungeon crawlers, not open world games. Travelling from one map location to another by foot takes days alone. As in, real life days.

Also, most villages in those games are probably bigger than all Skyrim cities put together.

^ Not to mention that a lot of it, if not all of it, was procedurally generated.

And every building in a city looked exactly the same, outside and inside. Woe to you if you got a quest to deliver something to someone who lives in one of those buildings. You'll spend 50 hours trying to find them.

Well, haven't played Arena, but navigation in dungeons was really... interesting in Daggerfall.

Those were real 3D dungeons! (never mind all looked the same). Not like these simple corridor pathways nowadays! Map was entirely useless... and good luck finding your target... or the way back for that matter...

Now that was a great game!

To be fair, Farengar was probably already sitting there. That sassy lass Serana probably walked right into that position, just to tease him. Image IPB

Nope, Serana was already there when I turned around from the enchanter and then Farengar non-chalantly walks over from the alchemy table, sits down and starts watching the show.

Hey now.  Ever come back from those Dark Brotherhood missions and report back to Astrid only to find her leaning over that table...and she only turns her head to acknowledge you?  Clearly the women of Skyrim are teases :o

That reminds me of when I'm talking to girls who are wearing t-shirts or tank tops with text written around the chest area. I'm torn between wanting to read it and not wanting to come off as a pervert.

Women confuse me sometimes.

I can imagine how that probably plays out: the girl wants you to look, but then reprimands you for it. It sounds like some sick kind of guilt trip, masquerading as an attention-getting ploy.

I don't wear those shirts, because they confuse me as well, and I'm female. And I don't want dudes staring at my chest. I'm married. Image IPB

On a sidenote, I keep thinking that it would be cool to have the face-changer in Riften as a follower. I could use a firecracker on my team, and I bet she could probably kick some butt.

That happened when I worked at a landscaping company once:
Girl 1: I hate it when guys stare at my chest!
Girl 2: I know right its so gross!

While...both of them were wearing very tight shirts, that were low cut.
I mean...come on that its just ASKING for attention.

At least its better than when they have 'Juicy' written on their backsides. Image IPB

Has anyone actually fought a Legendary Dragon? My PC is level 75 and I've only killed Revered Dragons. I wonder if they could gobble me all up...

EDIT: The wiki says they start appearing around level 78. That would explain why I haven't seen any yet.

Havent seen Legendary yet. But nowhere near that level. Highest I've encountered were the pair of Revered Dragons. But those were a set Dawnguard encounter, not a random one.

But that was one incredible looking fight on that ice lake. I think it topped my list for interesting fights so far.

She has made my 'Wish She Was On the Hit List' entry in my personal journal; abrasive only scratches the surface.

And not only will she not work on Vampires and other Undead, but has the ignorance to announce it publically. Time to turn the entire TG into a feeding ground.
