Limited voice actors is the only real life excuse. Whether you accept a lore excuse is solely up to you, don't expect others to feel the same.

There is no lore excuse...ever. He can make up that excuse all he wants. He's just wrong, and frankly it's hiding the fact that an excuse like that doesn't cover other reasons for bizarre voice acting.

Seriously,
if you hate the voices of the DUnmer that much, mute it. The subtitles
are there anyways, so I don't see what the problem is. If you really
need an explanation as far as lore goes, what Therefore said is as good
as you're going to get.
Deal with it.

It's amazing how people are so willing to provide a solution without absolutely willing to understand what I said.

The fact there is more voice actors this time round and lots more unique dialogue is exciting. Due to space issues lots of dialogue had to be removed from Oblivion. I think new compression techniques means that they dont even have to worry about restricting dialogue any more. We already seen in a couple of the reviews how even small npc's can hold a individual and distinct conversations.

With more voice actors, which is apparent I think a lot of the dialogue issues will be resolved. Although I dont know if they are trying to do regional accents for each race.

Can we drop this crap on the VA's before this gets locked?

There are in fact alot of VA's, most of who work very cheap. And the Cheaper they are, the worse they are. The Lore states its a regional dialect. Which is good enough to an extent. But the facts are, Bethseda didn't want to hire numerous and good VA's.

Budget versus time, Profits versus payout. Given I've watched Anime for years, Sub and Dub, I'll say upfront you have more bad than good VA's and the good ones are not cheap. When you look at the huge number of NPC's in Oblivion you would have needed at least 30 VA's, I wonder what Oblivions budget draw up was at the time.

Though as said above looks like things will improve, though I don't buy the whole "not enough space" think given the sheer number of VA's and lines I've seen in games like the GTA saga and Saints Row 2.

@KenKenpachi I'm pretty sure Bethaseda tried to put Oblivion on only 1 DVD.
Cause it would cost a lot more to print game in more DVD's.

Has anyone decided what race and type of character they'll first play?

Imperial Warrior
Malthred Fordring, one of the last surviving Blades in all of Tamriel
Reason for arrest: Arrested for being a Blade, conspiracy against the nation of Skyrim and posession of contraband (the last two offenses can be attributed to the mere act of being a Blade and having a Blade amulet on his person respectively)
Romance: None
Weapon Focus: Combat with a sword and shield

No problem!

I would recommend to check out descriptions, youtube videos, etc., and then make a list of all the mods you want to install.

If you are considering some of the overhaul mods (FCOM, OOO, MMM, Fran's, Warcry, etc.), or a large number of different mods, then I would suggest before installing any of them, to post the steps of your intended installation plan here to get feedback: http://forums.bethso...-oblivion-mods/

About 7 or 8 months ago, I didn't have very much experience installing big overhaul mods, but I made went through this process, posted my install plan, got feedback and I had a quick and easy install process, thanks to their help.

For the overhaul mods in particular, the installation order is very important, so it's better to install them all at the same time, rather than, for example, one overhaul first and then another one later.

I'ld say Imperial is your best bet.

Nords are more of your Barbarians, Redguard, your Melee, Britons Mages. Imps tend to count on subtility while still being able to use force. Though in the end none of that really matters and is just discription, you can totally play a Magic casting Nord if you wanted.

I think im going to play an Imperial, duel wield/archery combo. Stealth looks much more appealing now with improvements to it and the archery system.

Im not to concerned about magic on this play, but Im not going turn away the usefulness of Restoration and Illusion. I doubt I will go into battle with a spell equipped, but on a challenging fight I wont be scared to use it if necessary.

I'm pretty sure they did, in an open world game 2 disks would totally ruin it, so it's a blessing when they keep it too one disk.

Kajhiit are good for stealth and archery, because there inherent see-in-the-dark powers allow them to spot people hidden in dark places, allowing better stealth kills with a bow.

Yes, they had to. At the time Oblivion was released the Xbox 360 could not read dual layer disks.

It was so bad that they had to delete a lot of content. Emil Pagliarulo was pissed because he created unique Arenas for every city (including the city of Sutch), with quests, NPCs and lots of voiced dialogue.

In the end, they had to delete the city of Sutch (turned it into a dungeon), and all the Arenas except Imperial City.

That's a shame. Oblivion could have been an even much better game :(  I mean they were about to bring back the "Arena" concept that was dropped for ES 1: Arena. And wasn't the 360 the leading platform for Oblivion?

Symnpathy4saren- Well like I said I like delving into a game and trying to explore everyting for which it has to offer including various areas and such. Now currently I'm just going through I guess what would be considered the tuturioll of the game I have found a few different pieces of heavy armor, light armor boots shield and some weapons. Had to dump some stuff due to inventory restrictions.

Now a couple of things for which I've learned about the game that I don't care for is 1. the things for which you've got equipped still count towrads the amount your allowed to carry, unlike other games I've played. The other thing is there isn't a key for highlighting interactive objects like barrels and such which makes the game go slower because you've got to check out every thing.

Now currently I have not added any mods and only the Knights of Nine and Shivering Isles DLCs as they came with the game. Currently not sure where to even sure where to find mods for the game. The descriptions on the DLCs don't look to bad thouh.

Now I've got a couple of scrolls any way to copy them permanetly to the rest of my spells?

As for the graphics being dated that might be true but will have to admit that they do still look good.

As for why Elder Scrolls why not? I like RPG games like BG; NWN, TW, DA and had been thinking of giving it a try. And when I seen the ES IV 5th anniv for $30 bucks and I wanted something new to play figured why not go for it.<LOL>

The spell you have seems like a "one use only" spell manuscript. You aquire actual spells from purchase, achievement in a guild or from a Daedra....which are Elder Scrolls 'gods'. Spell manuscripts are different, although you can collect a lot of them. They don't use any of your magicka. You can eventually buy a house to store all your loot in....I have my items stored neatly and efficiently. I also have enchanted jewelry and a robe to increase inventory weight for looting.

What class did you pick?

Yes, the only real benefit for scrolls is that you can use them even if your magic skills are low, for example if you are playing a warrior or stealth character.

And of course, you can sell them.

I don't want to buy it for $60, and I don't want to play it on my outdated MacPro. I'd rather play it on the work computer that we're buying/building specifically for our small game dev biz.

The Steam Winter Sale will be dropping right after Skyrim, so even if I was in the technological area to buy it, I'd still wait.
