OK, that makes it a little easier. I always get Linwe's Armor.

This is quite a tall order, though. I've never made a male character, let alone tried to recreate one. Phew. I've got my work cut out for me, but I do love a challenge.

Maybe we should have a "Recreate Cutlass Jack" competition between us? Image IPB

Many good-looking characters. You have a lot of Nords.:P

Yeah, my Nord quota is pretty much full. Need another Redguard in there I think. The Nords do seem pretty easy to make cool-looking though, I think that's why I've used so many.

Cutlass Jack blows all mine out of the water though.

Hmmm, maybe a Redguard pirate.

Vampire armor also looks pretty swashbuckling. That clasp looks like a ship's wheel. (but lighting isn't that great in this shot.)

That is an extremely bizarre glitch - I've never seen anything like it (even in a Bethesda game), nor could I comprehend what aberration of coding might cause such a thing.

So I usually just avoid ever doing Promises to Keep anymore - I get tired of putting arrows through Letrush's ever-spawning clones' heads after the thousandth time.

Heh you got Multiple Letrush Syndrome. You'd think they'd have squashed that bug by now. I think I had like 6 of him hanging around outside the Whiterun stables on one playthrough. With Frost.

Lol, I've never had that bug. But perhaps I shouldn't cheer, because until a few days ago I also never had the bug of dead dragons randomly falling down from the sky. But now I've encountered three... One literally fell on my head! Actually startled me. xD I thought I was being attacked.

My last sessions in a Dwarven ruin led to a pretty good scare.

One of my fave tricks against Falmer is to use Throw Voice here and there, and watch the blind cannibals toss themselves off of ledges, hidey holes, etc; though mostly I only get to see the bodies along the way. Then while discovering the remains of a fierce Orc lass, I used this trick to attempt to clear the way forward, and then from behind and above into the view of the camera toppled the remains of a Dwarven Spider that also missed a step in search of me! Must have jumped a foot or so myself!

One of my fave things about this game is the variations that may appear in areas that have been seen several times before. Hope this is recaptured in future DLC and TES games.

Ugh, one time I was sneaking through a Dwemer ruin, heard a noise behind me, and turned around to find a Falmer right behind me. That was with my first character. Everyone in the room was looking at me oddly because I yelped.

And for those that enjoy lighthearted moments, try watching this vid at 44:00 min onward while drinking a beverage. This gameplay vid utilizes mods, and includes Scenic Carriages; nice idea, but may require a little work. Enjoy!

Haven't been in any real combat lately in Skyrim, since I've pretty much only been testing and playing with mods lately.  So, I got back in the swing of things tonight and up popped an Ancient first thing.  It's been awhile and it was exhilarating, having been away from the real game for so long.  Had a few good shots so I thought I share:

And after having chased the SOB around Riverwood, got a great ranged kill cam, with a badass capture just prior to arrow strike!

I forgot how much I loved this game.

If you've got Incinerate, you should try dual-casting it on a dragon skeleton. It's blown away a few dozen meters, if the circumstances are right. =D

I couldn't stop laughing when I accidentally discovered that.

I think my record is 4.5 Letrushes at one time. The one whose bottom half is underground is my favorite. What's creepy is when he talks to you, and their mouths all move in sync. I don't do that quest anymore, either.

Oh, and BTW, I created my own rendition of Cutlass Jack last night. I had a saved game from right before you customize your character that I always used, but this time it bugged. I had spent a while building CJ, and it freaking bugged. While my head was on the chopping block, Alduin decided to go for a joy ride. He just flew around, and wouldn't land.

This went on for 5 minutes, before I finally said screw it, and started from the actual beginning. That solved the problem. The second time around was much faster.

I will make sure he's up to snuff, then I'll snap a photo of him over the weekend.

Anyone who says "OLD SCHOOL RPGs ARE THE GREATEST!"....really has suffered cranial trauma at some point.

I am playing Baulder's Gate since I had it on gog.com and said "why not"
I will take Skyrim any day.

At least I dont die in a single hit, or run right into encounters I have no chance of winning.
Or have to waste hours being so weak as to die in a single hit.

So no I will just laugh at anyone who says that old school RPGs are better then modern ones.

People remember the experience they had playing those games, which is subjective. Like 80s music. It doesn't matter if it's cheesybad, if you grew up with it you tend to like it.

Clearly there can be only one. Image IPB

Actually I got that exact same bug the first time I played my own version of me and had to recreate him. I suspect Alduin was trying to find the Rum for me.

^ True. Props to Alduin for being awesome.

This is my first male playthrough, and I'm noticing the subtle dialogue tweaks from that of the female Dovahkiin playthrough. Wow, that Olfina Grey-Mane is not particularly nice to men. I'm used to getting pep talks from her, so it's jarring to see this other, very sexist, side. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, considering the nature of the pep talks.

I'm curious if she actually pitches in during dragon and vampire attacks...she talks a big game.

It is not so much cranial trauma as it is the profound amazement that with over a decade of past experiences to guide them, some modern games like DA2 somehow somehow manage to set the genre backwards and are less enjoyable than their archaic predecessors.

All RPGs can, will, and do one-shot their players.  Take your mage to the ebony-bow wielding deathlord in Lost Valkygg without wearing any +10000% crafted legendary daedric armor and you'll see :D

^ Be sure to visit Arcwind Point in that state, as well. Actually, if you haven't been there, you should. It was one of those places that I had no idea existed, and just happened to notice the path leading up to it in one of my later playthroughs. The path is near Froki's Shack in the Rift - I just happened to notice some small ruins and kept going.

Very much worth the trek...especially if you're looking to fill some soul gems. When I went there, the Draugr were nearly all Grand souls.

And you can get a word of Drain Vitality there while you're at it.

Drain Vitality is a really awesome Shout - I like it even better than Marked for Death. Summon Durnehviir is also a really boss Shout that renders Call Dragon somewhat obsolete - Durny is the better dragon (Sorry Big O).

My toughest encounters are those that are sprung by surprise (eg; Old Orc wanting to die). if I enter these unprepped, my gaming skills are poor enough to result in frequent death. And if I go in prepped, it ruins the simulated surprise.

But my stealthed archers have been to both those locations, and did not encounter unreasonable challenges at either place, though I do not go to Lost Valkygg often due to a lack of reward incentive (;eg; no Word Wall, unique treasure, etc).

I still haven't called either one of them more than once. I stupidly called Durnevhiir whilst fighting Alduin on the Throat of the World, after my first DG playthrough. I kept thinking he sucked, because he was doing absolutely no damage, but realized later that I sucked, because I'd forgotten to bring Dragonsbane. /facepalm One of my prouder moments, to be sure.

That fight is how I discovered that Serana is marked as essential/immortal. That lady took fireballs like a champ, even with just a sliver of health, in direct sunlight.
